📆 Germination Week, 1-7 August 2024 1 Aug - Placed 3 seeds in a cup of RO water, put in tent under light at 25% power, temp 74 degrees F. 3 Aug - All seeds cracked, roots appeared. 4 Aug - Placed 2 seeds in RootRiot starter cubes, 3rd seed was an obvious weaker sprout so I discarded it. 5 Aug - Seeds sprouted. 6 Aug - Waiting for roots to appear before placing into DWC. 📑 Thank you Devine Seeds for this sponsored grow and the opportunity to participate in the photoperiod competition! 📑 My experiences dealing with sprouting seeds in water, they must float, they must crack/show a root within 3 days or be moved into a damp paper towel for fear of drowning the seed. If the seed sinks right away, there is a great possibility that it is bad. I also use a regular light cycle, or 24 hours of light. Sprouting seeds in complete darkness 24hrs have always had unreliable results for me. 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🍽️ Root Riot starter cubes 🔆 DLI is 12-15 canopy coverage at 18hrs That is it for this week. Thanks for the look, read and stopping by.

📆 Week 1, 8-14 August 2024 8 Aug - Main root appeared. Transferred to a temporary DWC system. 11-14 Aug - Observed and let the plant grow. 📑 The plan: Using a 2 gallon Deep Water Culture system, along with a new blend of Plagron, Botanicare and Europonic nutrients, appropriate feeding schedule, meeting optimum indoor growing conditions; this Indica dominate plant will grow into one of the old time favorites, Northern Lights! Producing a THC content up to 23%, flowering time of 65-67 days, and heavy yields of 500-850 g/m2. I’ll veg her for 5-6 weeks then flip into flower, where she will bud for another 8 weeks. Finishing in time for the November Devine Seeds competition judging date. 🍶 8 Aug initial nutrient solution started 🍽️ 8 Aug initial feeding schedule started 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient solution EC 0.5 at 76 degrees F 🔆 Light power at 25%, DLI 12-15 canopy coverage at 18hrs 😤 Using General Hydroponics, HGC728040, Dual Diaphragm Air Pump, 320 GPH That is it for this week. 📆 Week 2, 15-21 August 2024 15 Aug - Transferred seedling to permanent 2 gal DWC home, adjust light power to 50%. 16-21 Aug - Observed and let the plant grow. 📑 This week I moved the seedling to its permanent home in a 2 gal DWC system. Turned Light power to 50%, with a canopy coverage of 30 DLI. Her growth rate has been normal, she is healthy and thriving. Plagron nutrients seem to be doing a good job so far. One of the greatest gifts a gardener has is patience. This probably more than anything is what makes your work pay off in the end. What distinguishes the master gardener is consistency and observation. As growers we cannot manipulate the plant genetically without breeding it, rather grow a seedling to its true potential. If we stay consistant in our practices, and learn, we will reach our goal in achieving this. 🍶 15 Aug nutrient solution changed 🍽️ 15 Aug feeding schedule updated 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient solution EC 1.0 at 75 degrees F 🔆 Light power at 50%, DLI 30 canopy coverage at 18hrs 😤 Using PYPABL, Air Pump, 400GPH That is it for this week. 📆 Week 3, 22-28 August 2024 22-28 Aug - Observed and let the plant grow. 📑 Her growth rate has been normal, she is healthy and thriving. I clipped off the first set of leaves and shoots this week, as they always tend to have a hard time keeping up with normal growth of the plant. Other than that I just observe the plant daily. 🍶 22 Aug nutrient solution changed 🍽️ 22 Aug feeding schedule updated 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient solution EC 1.2 at 73 degrees F 🔆 Light power at 50%, DLI 30 canopy coverage at 18hrs 😤 Using PYPABL, Air Pump, 400GPH That is it for this week. 📆 Week 4, 29 August - 4 September 2024 29 Aug - Topped plant. 30 Aug - 4 Sept - Observed and let the plant grow. 📑 Topping her this week didn’t slow down the growth rate. NL is growing fine and I will soon flip her into flower, probably next week. This week I focused on keeping only the main branches, and removing all side shoots with some minor defoliation. Increasing light time to 20hrs per day sure is helping to enlarge plant size. 🍶 29 Aug nutrient solution changed 🍽️ 29 Aug feeding schedule updated 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient solution EC 1.3 at 75 degrees F 🔆 Light power at 50%, DLI 30-35 canopy coverage at 20hrs 😤 Using PYPABL, Air Pump, 400GPH That is it for this week. 📆 Week 5, 5-11 September 2024 5 Sept - Removed lower foliage from the plant and side shoots from the branches. 6-11 Sept - Observed and let the plant grow. 9 Sept - Flipped light schedule to 12/12hrs. Adjusted DLI to 30-35. 📑 This was a good week for NL, and her last week at a 20/4hr schedule. Midweek she went into a pre-flower schedule of 12/12hrs. The tent I have her in only allows for about this much space. This week I also removed lower foliage from the plant and most side shoots from the branches. 🍶 5, 9 Sept nutrient solution changed 🍽️ 5, 9 Sept feeding schedule updated 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient solution EC 1.6 at 75 degrees F 🔆 Light power at 50%, DLI 30-35 canopy coverage at 20hrs 😤 Using PYPABL, Air Pump, 400GPH That is it for this week. 📆 Week 6, 12-18 September 2024 12 Sept - Defoliated plant. 13-18 Sept - Observed and let the plant grow. 📑 This was a good growth week for NL. It began with a defoliation that led into the start of her pre-flower stretch, looking good and healthy. Another week and the budding begins. 🍶 15 Sept nutrient solution changed 🍽️ 15 Sept feeding schedule updated 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient solution EC 1.6 at 75 degrees F 🔆 Light power at 50%, DLI 30-35 canopy coverage at 12hrs 😤 Using PYPABL, Air Pump, 400GPH That is it for this week. 📆 Week 7, 19-25 September 2024 19-24 Sept - Observed and let the plant grow. 25 Sept - Determined plant was a hermaphrodite, and destroyed it. 📑 This week started off good, then she gradually showed what she was to become. Male flowers appeared, in many places (see pictures). So this is the end of line for Northern Lights. 💚 Thank you Divine Seeds for the opportunity to grow your genetics. These things happen sometimes. 🍶 19 Sept nutrient solution changed 🍽️ 19 Sept feeding schedule updated 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient solution EC 1.5 at 73 degrees F 🔆 Light power at 50%, DLI 40-45 canopy coverage at 12hrs 😤 Using PYPABL, Air Pump, 400GPH That is it for this grow.
