This will be my 1st coco coir grow with 6 plants, as allowed in California. I am a medical card carrier and this is plenty for me needs as I make edibles and bubble hash for my self. Day 1 Pre Germination. I'm hoping to go 6 for 6 with the beans so I can max my grow. I will be using 3 gal fabric pots with a 30/70 perlite / coco mix that needs a lot of CALMAG per my hydroponic stores customer service rep. This confirms from what I have been reading about coco coir it holds on to Ca Mg per cation exchange. I will buffer my media with CALMAG. I also will be using a 6/2 light shedule for my veg. I have read an article in a reputable magazine about breaking up the 18/6 into (3) 6/2 blocks as cannabis is a short day plant " (six hours on, two hours off) may increase plant growth while also potentially creating a more stable controlled environment. " per the article. so I will take one for the team and let you know how it goes. also I will be using the 3 part Emerald Harvest Line with their CAL MAG and Silica supplement Sturdy Stalk. and I will be shooting a time-lapse of the grow as soon as the rockwool cubes show roots I will move them to the 3 gal pots. wish me luck. Any coco coir growers out there have any tips on buffering the coco that I might have missed. Any techniques as far a treating the media before you plant? please let me know. watering or feeding schedules things that would help me as a first timer in coco. thanks for the support.

I had to transfer to the bigger pots the week. There was a lot of stretch in the cups and they were falling over. so will see how it goes this week. Coco with the Azomite and a little clone x myco powder at the root base, Just a baby feeding 1 mil/gal of the three part Emerald Harvest and Cal Mag in a 5 gallon bottle. PH at 6.1, then another 5 gallons of plain PH 6.2 water no food to get run off from the pots. The runoff was PH 5.8 so in happy with that. I got the time-lapse running so I will post it at the end of each week moving in to the next one. waiting on a green filter for the camera to help adjust the color so everything will not look blurpule. Cheers.

Well I went and named all the girls after rock and roll songs with their name in the title. see if you can guess all 6 artists 😁 A few are taking off some are still putt sing along, one looks like a Nutrient lock out (N) it looks a little yellow. #3 and #6 are under a different mfg. light and I think that is what is shifting the color. When they are under white light they do not look as bad I gave them there first mid sized meal today 2/15/19 850 ppm @ 5.8 ph the runoff is pretty high 6.8 so tomorrow ill water the runoff I collected in the saucers and ph'ed it 5.5 and re-water ea. with an equal portion of that mix. I have a tripod now for the camera and the time-lapse should be more stable and less jumpy. Ill post some pics from the start of the week and the end. Cheers

For me it looks like a ph issue, check the ph of your drain after watering too. It will show you the ph of your soil. You should so the same with ppm and i would recommend to give them a lower dosage of nutrients (850 ppm is high for veg stage). And im not 100%sure but it looks like you overwater her too. Always wait till the soil is total dry 👌 Best wishes 🌱✌️

It still looks like there humming along gonna give one more week of veg after transplanting them so the roots can settle in. I don't want to stress them with to much after repotting them as the roots were air pruning though the 3 gal pots. My freaking camera stopped taking pictures at day 4 of week 4 not sure why, then today the power went out in my neighborhood it happened around the dark cycle so I hope with that and the transplanting it would not stress them to much. Another VEG feeding this week with extra (N) I hope the pale ones benefit from that. I diluted the food per the advice of you all to 500 ppm @ 6.0 ph will see how it goes this week I will post more at the end of the week as always. Thanks Drewbie

Flower time is here. Transition Feeding as above 3/7/19 I will still irrigate during the week with PH 6.0 water with 1 mil CAL MAG and 1 mil SILLICA /gal I'll be using DJ Short's 11 on 13 off light shedule as I was using a 6/2 x 3 veg schedule I might a well keep it exotic. I have been reading that it will help bring out the flavor, smell and appearance of the buds at the cost of a small sacrifice in yield. Because this is my medicine I will have plenty off the 6 plants, and I'm looking for quality over quantity. As far as I can tell I have not seen any detrimental effects of the 6/2 light shedule it is the same amount of light as 18/6 I just broke it up in 3 parts. It did help keep the heat down. I found I did not have to water as often as well. Would the plants have been bigger had they had and 18/6 I don't have the data to confirm or deny that. All I know is that the plants are doing their thing and they look healthy to me so maybe for the home grower in a hot area this method might work for you. I wanted to try it and I'm just sharing my results with this amazing community of growers. As always I will be uploading more images and Time-lapse at the end of the week. Cheers to all yall😇

What is the best time to SCROG in the plants life cycle and is there any preparation for this.

CRiSPrGrowanswered grow question 6 years ago
depends what you want out of your scrog. So if you want to scrog in order to increase yield, you really want to start the scrog during veg, as early as possible, threading the plant through the netting to create an even canopy from whence the plant can start making colas. You'll be putting the scrog up as close to the plant and the pot as possible, really really low. you're not really past that, but it's a bit late for that. Other idea is to use the scrog to support the flowering and kinda mush the canopy and leaves down to make an even canopy, you can do that right now, but it won't help increase the yield. So in summary : you're a bit late on the scrog, but you can still use the netting to support the flowering in a good way. no worries ! hope this helps ! 🚀

So far so good got a little build up on the colas looking for more and more the coming weeks. trichomes are mainly white not a lot of clear ones. 60 to 65 days flowering time on the package. about 5 weeks out to harvest will flush the last 3 weeks. getting sticky-icky smells citrus and sweet for now. I just want to say I do not get paid or receive any type of compensation from Emerald Harvest. with that said I am loving their 3 part line. I have given full strength from week 2 till now and have not seen any lock out or nuite burn. no problems with the plants. any other EH users out there please chime in. thanks

The girls have come a long way, it's the start of week 11 form seed. This is week six in flower ( if you count one week for transition?) we made it past the 3 - 5 gallon transplant shock, topping, defoliating, most importantly the HERMIE INVASION. Which come to find out, they were straight dudes as I gave them to my neighbor for decoration with the rest of his Floral and fauna. I would check on them every few days. not even drag queens just dudes. this is week 1 of late feeding per the EH chart and no more grow nutrients . Now its all about bud production and getting the flush time correct. I'm thinking the last 3 weeks just PH 6 water to use up the food in the coco coir and drain the salts out. any thoughts on flushing please let me know your thoughts, any positive or negative experiences you have had. I am courting on you GD community your my only hope. "episode IV reference"😎

What are some key indicators on the optimum time to flush your plants and cut off the feedings? I am going for that white ash when smoked. is that a good flush a slow cure or both?
Solved

OutForReal
OutForRealanswered grow question 6 years ago
White ash is what you get when your weed is properly flush. The flush will help to get rid of the nutrients that the plant have in stock , and it's the fact that the nuts are present or not in your weed that will bring the "hard black ash". In coco a 7 days flush is good enough as it will really get rid of the nutrients faster than in soil. Now about the optimum moment to flush : it must be based on your trichomes , forcexample you want a 100% cloudy ratio? Then flush at 90% cloudy to be sure to get almost 100% cloudy 7 days after

Water the ladies with some PH 6.0 CALMAG 5ml/gal and a small shot of KING COLA and EMREALD GODDESS about 1ml/gal in between feedings. I am using a little heavier feeding this week than last weeks late flower per EH chart. I leaned into it a little more by 2ml extra per gallon I have not seen any nuite burn the whole time so I think they can handle an extra 250ppm its my last feeding I am hoping for some swell up on the colas, I know there is some sacrifice in yield with the 11/13 flower shedule but these bitches smell bad ass. I have to leave the fan and filter on all the time now as soon as I open the tent it wafts through the garage. If a bag of citrus fruit were to slapping sloppies with a brick of Blonde Lebanese is the only way I can describe it. I am going to feed this week and start flushing next week with PH 6 rainwater for the last two to three weeks. The hairs are starting to turn orange and trichomes are getting more cloudy. thanks for liking.

I had a little leaf curl on a few fans so I backed off on the watering and I put a elevator drain screen under the 5 gallon fabric pots so my roots would not get the root rot. Gonna Start Flushing this week, giving the Ripening feeding per EH feed chart and getting a better wet dry cycle with the plants. will water in another day with plain rain water I collected ( SEE WEEK 8 VIDEO) and keep a close eye on the trichomes clear cloudy ratio. The buds are getting thicker. thanks for all the feedback on this grow. I got some good advice from SpinnerCaribbean on flushing with coco. cheers

I can see the finish line. I started the flush this week 5/2/19 nothing but Harvested Rain Water 25 PPM filled both 5 gallon pots nice and slow to saturate the coco until I had runoff. I checked the drip pan PPM was 1986 I'm sure the residue from the other feedings were still in the pan from weeks past. I collect a clean sample of runoff today 5/5/19 with a 5 gallon flush on each pot and check that. 1100 ppm I used the Flawless Finish on the 5 gallons to clean out most of the salts let the plants slowly eat up the reserves in the fan leaves. I am seeing the yellow fade of autumn now. will let dry out for 2 more days and Flush again with the Flawless Finish on 5/7/19 PPM 390 I am seeing the fade to yellow on the shorter one the tall one is still green but the PPM on both are at 390. another 2 day dry out last flush 5 gallons of R/O WATER. on 5/9/19 The time-lapse files got corrupted 😥 but I shot a live video of some close ups. Cut of the SCROG and wow are they sticky. the smell is really strong now. Thanks for all the support and advice on this grow. I have to have patience for the chop, all most there.

💪Was fighting high humidity at the end had some BUD ROT I caught it early and have remedied the RH issues. The 2 that made it and did not Hermie could not be more different one Sativa dominate and the other Indica have some nice colas and a ton of popcorn buds but they are rock hard. 2lbs 2oz wet with the lumber. I am going to test the THC in it as well and post the video. Bubble bagged the popcorn and trim got 9 grams of hash all together see pics. and this strain did not disappoint in strength 18.2% THC not lab tested but pretty close with my Tcheck device. 13 oz. of buds, wow are they smelly. I have more genetics from The Cali Connection "Blue Dream Haze" will be the next grow. Smoking this strain is very reminiscent of hot knifing hash in high school, the flush and drying I'm happy with as the ash goes white the smell out of the jar is a strong skunk/diesel aroma that lasts forever it seems. It hits smooth not a lot of tastes on the front end, upon exhale the hash notes are very dominant with subtle herbal/citrus notes and the thickets whitest smoke I have seen. burns well in a bowl. The first hit was a super charge with some 73 bubble hash crumble and the buzz was good have some visine eye drops your eye will be dry. strong head high mild body good for early evening after dinner helps my acid reflux and sleep woke up fresh as a daisy. If you like the Hash vibe or making bubble this is a good strain for you. cheers

@Mrs_Larimar, I'm glad you got a laugh out of it. I am just tiring to be engaging with my posts who says you can't have a little fun as well. thanks for the tips on the coco they seem to be doing well. I need to dial in my watering shedule I have got a lot of mixed signals on how often to water. As of now I'm letting the plants tell me as apposed to a ridged time frame. P.S. I am a child of the 70's so that might give you a hint on the songs good luck👍

that is very sad... you had no possibility to keep them ( second grow space<) because the hermies still get you a nice yield aqnd yes that worst case loosing plants

well i would separate the hermied plant.... and the seeds it produces are probably feminized, that the way they produce fem. seeds, stressing a plant so that she pollinate herself.... getting feminized seeds but if the semen of you hermie pollinate other plants... aaahm i dont think you got feminized seeds then...................................well its better keep her seperate, put away the pollen sacks and done... but keep her alive

I think its worth looking into to see if it is real or bunk. like I said in my early posts it was an article I read in a hydroponic magazine and I wanted to try it. so more questions for me anyway. I'll try one more grow with a better gene pool and see, I like the tip on the LEDs 90 is the hottest my ten has ever been in the summer. ill keep everyone posted next week. thanks for the feedback👍

@DrewbieDoobieNoobie, why 4/6? no idea, each life is going to handle the stress differently. These are fem seeds? Not regs? Can't be 100% sure, but that light cycle sounds stressful and the heat you're worrying about probably isn't as detrimental because it's an LED. You can run hotter with an LED and avoid the experimental light cycle. My understanding on fems is that unstable genetics can herm, but stable genetics can herm with too much stress. Have you contacted the seed bank to ask? good luck mate!

@earlsmeds,why only 4 and not all 6 are you sure its the light cycle?

You heard that 3x 3(2) light schedule may increase plant growth... Does the natural sun drops to nights every 2 hours while shinning every 3 hours, 3 times a day..? You’re going to confuse the plants.. plants recover at night with continuous hours with no disruption. Plants naturally need 6-8 hours of continuous sunlight (generally plants). You’re taking it away and splitting it by 3.. let us know how they thrive.

@MaryJaneUSA, that's the theory about helping stabilize the environmental conditions, sorry for the confusion on the post 😬 I will keep a close eye on this method. I live in a pretty hot and dry area so if it help during the summer months without hurting the yield it might be a cool pardon the pun alterative . Cheers Drewbie

@MaryJaneUSA, I think You may have misunderstood my post the ( / ) was not meant to be a division sign. 6 hours of light 2 hours of darkness in 3 continuous segments for a total of 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness per day. I'm just breaking the 18 and 6 hours into 3 blocks of 6 and 2. cannabis is a short day plant, so I will take one for the team like I said and try this. I know it goes against conventional wisdom but nothing ventured nothing gained. I will keep everyone posted on how they thrill or don't. I found this in a Grow Magazine and to their credit they said it MAY help plant thrive. as their disclaimer said. I'm just conducting and small experiment to see if their are any truths or benefits to this method or is it all just witchcraft. thanks for the comments Drewbie

Got through the dry and cure, super happy with the results not a lot of taste up front. Hash taste on exhale with citrus and diesel notes on the back end high comes on strong 70 to 75 % head 25-30% body. looking forward to the next grow from Cali connection Blue Dream Haze cheers.
