GanjaGecko Week 1 On day 3, a bit more substrate was added to all the ladies to support the young gals. They all received another 20ml of water with a corrected pH value of 6.0. The ladies are doing well. There's not much to do in the first few days. By the end of the week, the ladies were moved into their 12L fabric pots where they will stay until the end. In the first 4-5 weeks, watering needs to be done more carefully as the ladies are not able to take in large amounts of water. On day 6, they were repotted. Two of the three ladies went into 12 fabric pots. The three ladies have now settled comfortably in the 60×60×180cm tent from Spiderfarmer under the Sanlight EVO 3-60 1.5 with a maximum output of 200W. The full power is not used here; 150W is sufficient for 60×60cm. Of course, a bit more wattage brings a bit more. The goal is to achieve the best possible g/Watt ratio. Lady#3 is still in the seedling pot. She looks quite weak, and the leaves don't look so good either. So it's pretty much decided which two ladies will stay. If she doesn't look better in two or three days, she will be removed. The substrate mix consists of about 80% BioBizz Lightmix and about 20% coco with perlite (70/30). For the growth phase, there are about 11L of substrate for each pot. The last liter of substrate will be added with the flowering fertilizer when switching the light cycle to 12/12. Additionally, for soil improvement, there was: - 1 tsp/L Mega Worm from Plagron. - 2g/L rock dust - 5% BioChar In the pot where the ladies have found their place, the hole where the ladies will be placed was sprinkled with some Great White Mycorrhiza. On the surface, there was just under 60g of BioGrow from GreenHouseFeeding, which was thoroughly mixed into the substrate. The recommendation is 3-5g per L of substrate. To prevent deficiencies in the later growth phase, there are 5g/L. The soil was moistened with a pressure sprayer/tree sprayer, and then each of the three ladies received 1ml/L PowerRoots, 1ml/L PureZym, 1g/L BioEnhancer, and 0.75g/L Dynomyco Spark. Each lady got 2× 250ml at a pH value of 6.0. Additionally, nematodes were added to the water to prevent pesky fungus gnats. The Sanlight EVO 3-60 1.5 was dimmed to 40% on day 6 for repotting. This gives the ladies about 400 ppfd. The distance from the LED to the ladies is 40cm. The VPD was not optimal for the ladies' stage at the beginning of this week due to the cold temperatures. By the end of the week, with the larger pots and thus more water evaporating, it was heading towards 60% humidity. The temperature in the tent was around 24°C during the day. The target in this stage is 60-70% humidity and about 25°C. GanjaGecko Week 2 The two ladies have recovered very quickly after being repotted and are settling well into their new pots. Lady #3 hasn't made any significant progress after three more days in the seedling pot. Lady #3 is the one that germinated last. At first, she just didn't want to open her cotyledons and needed a bit of help. So, she hasn't been the most motivated of the three ladies from the start. With that, Lady #3 is out, and Lady #1 & #2 can claim the garden entirely for themselves. So far, the ladies look healthy and show good growth. The VPD was somewhat optimal this week. The temperature in the tent was around 25°C during the day, and the humidity was about 60%. The target at this stage is 60-70% humidity and around 25-26°C. GanjaGecko Week 3 Midweek, on day 17, both ladies received their topping. Lady#1 is still slightly taller than Lady#2. This will surely be managed with some LST in the coming weeks. The topping was well tolerated by the ladies, and they developed good side branches. Midweek, the lower fan leaves on both were removed. On day 21, the last two were removed as well. Lady#2 started to get a bit too much water this week and received about 150ml less than her sister for the rest of the week. The VPD was somewhat optimal this week. GanjaGecko Week 4 This week there wasn't much to do except adjust the distance of the LED and watch the two ladies grow. By the end of the week, the ladies have grown into stable bushes and are developing quite evenly. They could be twins. Starting next week, there will be some LST until the ladies are sent into flowering in one to two weeks. In past grows, I topped more. While you do get a lot of nice buds because many shoots develop, with a 12L pot, the individual buds won't be the biggest. So, a bit more LST and with less topping, there will also be one to two weeks less growth, as the ladies won't have to constantly recover from topping. Since I will only have two ladies per tent in the future, the 12L fabric pots will be replaced with 19L fabric pots. Bigger Roots=Bigger Fruits. The VPD was somewhat optimal this week. GanjaGecko Week 5 In week 5, leaves were removed here and there from shoots that had already developed new shoots again. On day 34, we spontaneously decided to switch the two ladies from 18/6 to 12/12 on day 36. Everything was prepared on day 34 for this. The last liter of substrate and the additives went into the pot. The substrate is a mix of about 75% BioBizz Lightmix and 25% Coco with perlite. The ladies have a total of 12L of substrate, 60g BioBloom (5g/L) from GreenHouseFeeding, 12 teaspoons of Megaworm (1 tsp/L substrate), 3 teaspoons of Bat Guano (1 tsp/4L substrate), some Dynomyco mycorrhiza, and a bit of Great White mycorrhiza as well. While loosening the surface to incorporate the fertilizer into the substrate, it was easy to feel that the ladies have already well-rooted their pots. Unfortunately, a few small roots were damaged while loosening the surface in the substrate, which makes the ladies look a bit sad now. This will change in a day or two. An addition that will be a regular part of the routine in the future came from a tip from Stony_German, and that is that the ladies will be able to enjoy silica in the future. - For some crops, silicon fertilization of the soil increases yield. The crops can benefit from the suppression of diseases, reduced damage from pests, stronger stems, and stress resistance, or lead to a direct increase in yield through an additional silicon application. Benefits: - Direct stimulation of growth and yield - Counteracts the negative effects of nitrogen overdose - Suppresses some plant diseases caused by bacteria and fungi, such as powdery mildew - Combats stem borers, spider mites, and various leafhoppers - Alleviates various environmental stresses. GanjaGecko Week 6/1F As expected, both ladies have quickly recovered from the stress and are looking fit again. Here and there, I've removed a few leaves that have developed side shoots again. By the end of the week, a SCROG net was added to the tent to give the ladies a little support as they stretch in the coming days. Lady #2 was raised about 2 cm so she could better bind to the SCROG net, allowing the lower shoots to get a bit more light and stretch as much as possible. At the beginning of week 6, a small additional light was added. A Far Red light strip in the 730-745nm range - the Spider Farmer SUPP-IR 16. This is turned on for 10 minutes as a little sleep aid before the Sanlight goes off and continues for 20 minutes after the Sanlight goes off. The lighting with Far Red LEDs accelerates the metabolic shift after the lights go out. This allows the ladies to recover better at night and start the new day feeling stronger. Plants have an absorption spectrum that sees Far Red light as an indicator of the onset of darkness. We can take advantage of this fact with artificial lighting. The so-called phytochromes are responsible for the absorption of Far Red light waves. These are a type of photoreceptor proteins that influence a variety of plant growth processes. Phytochromes control processes such as germination, flowering, and photoperiodism, which is the regulation of the day-night rhythm. Essentially, there are two types or conformations of phytochromes in plants: The Pr-form (r=red) has its absorption maximum at around 660 nm and the Pfr-form (fr=far red) at about 730 nm. What do phytochromes have to do with plant lights? Quite simply: By using the Far Red spectrum, relevant processes like photoperiodism can be specifically influenced to optimize nighttime recovery and thus photosynthesis, leading to better yield results. If the low-energy Far Red radiation stays on for about 10 to 15 minutes longer than the regular light in the evening, it acts as a "sleep initiator." In this way, plants switch to their natural sleep mode faster and can use the extra time for recovery. GanjaGecko Week 7/2F The ladies continue to look fit. With the scrog net and some light cropping, the small side shoots are catching up nicely. The larger shoots were gently turned to the side daily so that the smaller shoots could get a bit more light. Both ladies are absolute workhorses. The small shoots are growing incredibly. The light cropping was done once daily on the ladies until day 48/13F. This way, each lady has a fairly even canopy. When the stretch sets in around the end of next week, or at the latest the beginning of the week after, most of the shoots should be about the same height. On day 49/14F, the shoots from the banding were so hard that hardly any of them can be bent anymore. By the end of the week, the two ladies are already showing the first clear signs of flowering. Next week, there will only be additives for now. The leaf tips could indicate a bit too much fertilizer. In general, the ladies have the flowering fertilizer from GreenHouseFeeding and BatGuano from Plagron as a flowering booster in the pot and shouldn't really need many more additives. GanjaGecko Week 8/3F On Day 50/15F, the SanlightEVO was set to 150W. This will be the maximum for the 60×60cm tent. The ladies are getting 900 ppfd in the middle and 800 ppfd in the corners. The ladies are developing wonderful flowers. Otherwise, they also look super fit. The VPD is pretty perfect during the day. The humidity stays around 40%, occasionally dropping to 37%, all at an average temperature of 25°C. I don't want to get too excited too soon. So far, everything is going pretty well in this run. The ladies are starting to get a bit thirstier. Where last week they needed 100-200ml less, by the end of the week, the ladies needed a drink for two consecutive days. In terms of height, the ladies are about the same size. The lady on the left has slightly more diligent side branches that are reaching more towards the canopy. Otherwise, I am very satisfied with both ladies. GanjaGecko Week 9/4F In the fourth week of flowering, both ladies have developed super beautiful buds. In terms of frost level, both are now about equal. I've never seen so much frost on a pile before. The ladies are drinking quite a bit. In the meantime, they also get half a liter of water between watering days. I probably won't need the second layer of the scrog net in this run. The stretch has been somewhat limited for both ladies overall. Perhaps the daily cropping/banding during the first week of the time change helped keep the stretch under control. Slowly, even when you open the tent, a crazy scent wafts through the nose. I just can't quite say which direction it's going yet. GanjaGecko Week 10/5F In the 5th week of flowering, the ladies were incredibly thirsty. Currently, they are being watered daily. The slowly rising temperatures outside are causing the humidity to rise to 50% and the temperatures to 26-27°C. The tent is mostly open during the day. Unfortunately, one bud shows minimal bud bleaching, but that's not a big deal. GanjaGecko Week 11/6F In the 6th week of flowering, I unfortunately noticed a slight potassium excess with Lady#1. Two or three leaves show some brown spots on the edges and tips. Therefore, Lady#1 did not receive any GreenSensation or PK 5-8 this week. GanjaGecko Week 14/9F !!!BUDPOOORN!!! 😄 In the 9th week of flowering, the two ladies have really developed some beautiful color. The contrast of the trichomes with the pistils and a nice dark purple/red underneath is stunning. I've kind of fallen in love with this strain. Maybe I got lucky with these two ladies. But both have grown to about the same height, which has made the even lighting very pleasant. The trichomes on the head buds are mostly milky. I would say about 90% are milky, 5% clear, and 5% amber. What's really crazy is that both ladies could be harvested exactly as indicated after 63 days without any worries. Lady #2 is ready to go. Lady #1 could use a few more days for the buds to swell a bit more. Today, on day 98/63F, the ladies received water for the last time. The ladies have been getting less water in the last week, and I intentionally put them under a bit of H²O stress, which is supposed to stimulate cannabinoid production. For the upcoming last days of the ladies, there will be no more water. Sanlight has observed that if the plant dries out in the pot before being hung, it has an immensely positive impact on the later taste. The ladies will be hung next week on day 101/66F, at the latest the day after. This way, they have another 7-10 days to dry before going into jars for curing. Not to mention, one has to plan around the work week and aim for the weekend. GanjaGecko Week 15/10F Not much has been done in the last 3 days of the 10th week of flowering. There was no more water. The Sanlight was dimmed from 75%=150W to 60%=120W. The ladies were already ready by day 63F. Now that they are no longer receiving water and are just supposed to let the trichomes mature, it's enough for them to be illuminated with a bit less power. Biomass won't increase significantly in the coming days. Last but not least, the slightly lower temperature of about 23-24°C will also help preserve the existing terpenes a bit. On day 101/66F, both ladies were hung up to dry. All leaves without trichomes were removed for drying. Since Lady #2 has grown very densely and I want to avoid mold formation during drying, each of the individual side branches with their two to three secondary branches was hung up. GanjaGecko The ladies hung out for 7 days in the tent at 19-22°C with a humidity of 50-60%. After being carefully prettied up, the buds went into jars with 62% Boveda packs and into the cupboard. There, they will be opened 2-3 times daily for a few minutes to air them out at first. Before the jars are closed, a fan will be used to move air around in the jar to avoid mold in the last one to two weeks while they are still curing. Lady#1 wet: 530g/dry: 88.4g Lady#2 wet: 460g/dry: 62.4g If the ladies had another week of growth so that the side branches had grown to the height of the rest of the canopy, there would definitely have been another 20g dry.
