Natrona Straw Trop Cherry
Lineage: Trop Cherry × Strawberry Cadillac
Height: Medium
Flowering Time: 56–63 Days
Scent: Strawberry, orange
Both parent plants have amazing terpene profiles, so some phenos lean orange while others lean into strawberry terps, or a combination of both. These strains are bred for flavor and yield, so you can expect a tasty and rewarding grow.
Hello Friends, welcome to my new journey in learning more about growing cannabis. This time I’m growing photoperiod strains of String Seeds Strawberry Collection. I won these seeds in the Diary of the month July 2025 with my Sunset Sherbet Automatic Diary. Here is the link if you want to take a look.
https://growdiaries.com/diaries/226341-sunset-sherbet-automatic-grow-journal-by-natrona
I chose these seeds for the flavor profile and what may be some beautiful colors. In addition, in the back of my mind I wanted to try a full photoperiod grow. The photoperiod strains I’ve grown before have been grown outside, untrained and subject wet and rainy spring followed by over 100f heat and humidity during our summers. Some were lost to bud rot at harvest. These will be my first controlled photo period grow. My tent is AC Infinity 4x4x6.5. I will grow these under 18/6 light hours with my autos (Apricot, Godfather OG, & Blueberry) during the seedling and veg stages. These are supposed to be heavy feeders so I’ll have to keep an eye out for nutrient deficiencies.
When the autos are harvested in mid-December, the Strawberry collection will be 6 weeks old. At that time, I will determine, based on their size and temperament, when to flip to 12/12 for flower. That will be near Christmas so I may keep them in veg until the New Year. I plan on training with Hst (topping) and LST. Straw-Trop Cherry and Strawberry Cadillac of the Strawberry collection are 56–63-day flower period. Based on this, these will be close for harvest in Mid-February. Straw-Lectric Lemonade has a 9-week flower phase and ready for harvest in early March.
So, friends, wish me luck and thanks for joining me on my new adventure.

I stacked three crates to bring the seedlings closer to the light and arranged the tent gals on the perimeter so these can be directly under the humidifier. I check them daily and give them a good misting with deionized water.
11/14 Pictures and I gave a watering with some cal mag and recharge because Strawberry Cadilac showed light tips Indicating a need for nutrients. That makes me think this Strawberry line is a heavy feeder.

I brought in from outside my prepared posts to transplant. I tested the soil temperature, and it was 58 degrees. Too cold to plant. I prepared the tent area by moving in shelving and stacking crates to keep them close to the light. I put the pots in the tent overnight to warm the soil and transplanted the next day. On transplanting, I poured 500 ml ph 5.84 temp 73.5 and 294 ppm into the planting hole. Once I transplanted, I poured an additional 500 ml around the planting hole.
This week the girls doubled in size.

On 12/1 All the gals were topped except Strawberry Cadillac #1. She is the mutant with the main shoot coming off the side. Since she is already weird, I attempted to FIM her. This method is supposed to create multiple colas rather than control the height of the plant. They all looked fine the next day and did not show any distress. I topped them between the 4 and 5th node.

All are between 18-25 inches from the light. They are on raised shelving, pushed to the far side of the tent to receive the most humidity directly under the humidifier output.
I am using up various nutrients until I trans plant to the 5 gallon fabric pots. I decided to try Real Growers Grow Dots for this grow, so when I transplant, I will stir in Grow Dots into the soil and water only and CalMag as necessary. This decision is made to remove some tedious steps. With Autos near harvest, the photos in early veg and NYCDiesel a photo in late veg, I am having to make 3 different fertilizer blends to accommodate them all.

All the gals bounced back after the topping. The FIM I attempted on Cadillac1 did not work. I will let her grow out as is, maybe some LST. This gal already drinks more than the others and after I took pictures, 2 big fan leaves show nitrogen deficiency. So, she needs more food than the others. The Strawberry’s received 1.5 liters 3 times this week. A big week for defoliation and lollipop. It is evident that topping an asymmetrical plant does nothing to create more tops. The 6 Strawberry plants are huge for 7 weeks. Originally, I was planning to wait until January to transplant, however, the roots were showing out of the bottom of the pots, and every plant is over a foot tall and half are over 2 feet.
I believe the CO2 Exhale bag makes a difference in the speed of growth and development.
These are heavy feeders. All showed some nitrogen deficiency earlier on and I’ve increased feeding. I planned to use grow dots extended for photo period plants when I transplanted them to 5 gal. I asked Santa in early November, and he kept sending notice that the order had been delayed. So, I decided to use TPS1 for this grow. I flipped to 12/12 on 12/28 and will water only this week. I hope to reduce the stretch during the first 2 weeks of flower.
I must admit; I took on more than I can handle. I started these in November expecting them to be much smaller at 6 weeks. But no, these gals have grown with vigor. I had these 6 huge plants and 4 autos in the 4X4 tent. They grew faster and bigger than the autoflowers am used to growing. Christmas week was hectic with 5 harvests, 6 transplants and defoliation. I had to have my husband assist in the transplant to hold the plant as I held the fabric pot open.
A side note: I’m taking applications for Spring & Summer cabana boy positions when I go to the beach. Strawberry Cadillac has the big fans needed for the job.

I have been giving water only ph to 6.4-6.6. I want to reduce the stretch in the first weeks of flower and flush out excess nutrients.
12/29 2 liters
12/31 2.5 liters 55-60% moisture
1/2/26 2 liters the pots are at 55% moisture and need to water more frequently than every three days. So I researched how much water to give to 5 gallon pots. They should receive 1-1.3 gallons of water each watering with 10% run off. I have been underwatering, which is better than overwatering. Anyway, to make sure the pots are saturated with plenty of run off, I gave them 1 gallon each on 1/3. Water, water everywhere🤪. Every pot overflowed with enthusiasm.
This 6 photo plant grow is more than I anticipated. I now must have 2- 5 gallon buckets of water ready. 6 gallons for the strawberry collection and 3 gallons for NYCD and tomato. The tent is at max capacity and in 5gallon pots, I can't lift them. I am rethinking to limit photos to 2 at any given time and filling the tent with autos for future grows.

These strawberry collection gals are growing steady during this early stretch. I gave water only last week to contain the stretch. I also turned the lights down to 80%. Other than Cadillac1 all the plants look the same so I tied ribbons to the pots as identifiers for pictures. Kitties lost interest in my leaves, now is play with the pipe cleaners.
I’ll have to tighten them up as I found one on the grow room floor.

01/05 Supercrop Last week I indicated I might supercrop Cadillac1 since she is so tall. Well, you will see pics during the process of bending the stem and taping the position. I pinched the stem in my fingertips and rolled it a bit, then bent the stem, (notice the outer casing is not broken) applied tape to the joint to keep the branch from completely bending over. Each side had at least 3 nodes.
1/06 the side nodes on the branches have turned up and made more tops.
All gals show the beginning of white hairs identifying they are female.

These strawberry collection gals are taking off like rockets during this early stretch.
Cadillac1 and S. Trop Cherry 2 have grown at least 15 inches this week. I cannot push them to the edge anymore. Pics show them pressed up against the light. What to do? My hubby suggested cutting them off-you should have seen the look I gave him. I decided to do more super cropping of the tallest branches. These girls were 56 and 57 inches from the soil to their tops. As tall as me but an additional 15inches due to the pot. I tried to bend the stem by about 10inches, so the tops are about the same as the other plants in the tent. Fingers crossed they slow down.
Strawberry Trop Cherry #1 28” #2 57” before 47” after These two are my Hollywood stars from the movie “Twins” #1 is Danny Di Vito and #2 is Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Since the grow dots did not arrive before the transplant, I decided to use TPS1 and start during the first week of flower. That’s now. The mix for early bloom is as follows:
TPS1 14ml/g
Silica Gold 3ml/g
I needed to add 3ml/g of Calmag to raise the pH after accidentally lowering it too much.
1/10 66.5F, 6.22 ph & 1023 ppm
1/14 70.3F, 6.42 ph & 1007 ppm Pics
1/11 !st flower week defoliation and lollipop for all the Strawberry collection.
1/16 More super cropping of Cadillac1 and 1st time Trop Cherry2. More pics
General observations: I usually use Air pots but these can be messy when water squirts out the side holes. I decided to use the 5Gal fabric pots AC Infinity provided when I got the tent. The fabric pots hold moisture longer than the air pots and since I have to water with at least a gallon, the humidity increases to 85%. This is way out of range for early bloom. Also, the ventilation fan increases to 10 which is very loud and only helps a small bit.
I noticed that after defoliation the RH came down to the upper 60%. Not optimal but better.
I should have defoliated in week 3 of veg to reduce the humidity in early flower.
The only time my environment is optimal is when it’s close to the next watering day. Then it goes right back up after watering. It has been very cold here and the tent temperature barely gets above 73f. Increasing the tent temperature would help the VPD. When the plants were touching the lights, I held the lights at 80%. I just increased to 100%.

And water on 1/24.
1/18 I did some defoliation of some large fans covering buds, rearranged the tie down strings and moved plants around the tent to manage space. I put S Cherry 1 on a crate to raise the canopy closer to the others and put a heater in the tent to raise the temperature and improve the VPD.
The limbs where I supercropped are starting to rise upwards and one limb is almost touching the light now. Let’s hope the stretch stops. Pics show burns on the leaves that were touching the light before supercropping. I do not like the strings. They get tangled in the other plants when I turn them and the arms where I bent down are interfering with the surrounding plants.
I am still trying to determine how much to water. I am giving all of them 1 gallon, but the smaller plants have a lot of run off but the larger plants don’t. Cadillac1 needs more water because she drinks plenty and she is next to the heater which dries her out.

To balance out the feed solution, I blend some of one bucket into the other and then back to the first bucket. I do this a couple of times to even out the PPM and temperature.
Strawberry Cadillac #1 51” #2 52” each drinks 1.5 gal
Strawberry Trop Cherry #1 37” #2 57” #2 drinks 1.5 gal #1 only 1 gal
Straw-Lectric Lemonade #1 40” #2 50” both drink 1 gal.
Other than bud development, they should not stretch any more.
STC#2 is taller than the light, so I have her pushed to the back.

Side by side you can see I usually get a tall and a short pheno when I grow 2 of the same strain. Both S-Lectric Lemonade and S-Trop Cherry are like this. The Cadillacs are both tall exceeding 6 feet: the super cropping held them at 52 inches.
We had our first big snow this week following a light dusting last week. Pics show my kitties investigating (but not for long).

STC1 is the shortest plant in the tent. Even Though I have her on a crate she is overshadowed by Cadillac1. The buds on 1 are small but puffing up and filling out nicely. STC2 buds are denser and much bigger. Some of the buds on the super cropped limbs are too heavy and flop over. When I harvest, I’m going to measure the length of the limb spread and determine how tall this strain would have been if not super cropped. In the future, I will not buy seeds that the height range is not listed, 4 of the 6 plants are 4 inches from the light. Other than this oversized and crowed jungle, all is going well.
Happy Valentines Day to all my friends.

2/17 Oh boy, Strawberry Trop Cherry2 the buds are still packing on weight causing the limbs to flop over. To remedy this, I tried wiring chopsticks to the limbs then tying the limbs up with string. Some I tied to each other, others I tied to a support pole. I really hope this works to support them as they have at least a month to go and are bending and twisting under the weight. Each gets 1 gallon at the regular watering schedule.
The buds on Strawberry Trop Cherry1 are developing flat, showing pinks with lots of orange pistils. Strawberry Trop Cherry 2 buds are stacking tall and thin. and are very frosty.

1 quart of TPS1 lasts 6 weeks feeding 6 plants in 5 gallon pots. Good thing I had the foresight to buy another bottle 2 weeks ago.
2/25 I did my first trichome check on day 45 of flower and to my surprise, both Cadillacs and S Trop Cherry 2 show more amber than 20% and the others are mostly milky. The S Lectric Lemonades are the 9 week group and are milky but show no amber.
Maturity was rapid and faster than 56-63 days or 9 weeks. My friend @Sour_D recommended Flawless Finish to help with flushing. It is out for delivery by tomorrow. I wonder if the Exhale Co2 bag contributed to the faster ripening.
2/26 In light of the readiness to harvest, my husband did a preliminary wet trim of all the gals and I flushed all of the strawberry collection with 1.5g of plain PH 6.67 water.

This week I flushed all gals. The S_Trop Cherrys each received a total of 3 gallons of water with a flushing agent. Hopefully it will be enough to remove excess nutrients, I will flush through the weekend. I plan on chopping this weekend.

Strawberry Trop Cherry - STRNG Seeds
W18 F9 3/8-14 Harvest week 3/9
Strawberry Trop Cherry was not easy to grow. These were in the tent with 4 others. They remained medium-tall at 40” and 50”. These were positioned on the side of the tent, but the Cadillacs in the middle over shadowed these 2 most of the time.
They were among the largest of all the collection. Trop Cherry2 was topped 2x and super cropped 1x to keep her under the lights. Without HST she would have been over 7 feet tall. In super cropping, you bend the limb without breaking the outer skin. Pics include one of the healed knuckles where I super cropped.
S-Trop Cherry 1 was the runt of the tent and produced the least She was overshadowed by her sister and the Cadillacs. I experimented with CO2 bag and I’m sure that contributed to the massive growth since @strngseeds indicated this strain is medium height.
I consider medium height 2.5-4.5 feet.
Even though the plants were crowded in the tent, touched the walls and each other, they didn’t not get mildew, mites or other undesirable infestations.
For my first time growing photos in the tent, I feel this was successful.
Smoke report:
We vape Trop Cherry throughout the day. The flavor is sweet and fruity strawberry. The strain is balanced with head and body feel and not overpowering. The general feeling happiness and relaxation comes on quickly. The overall feeling is more mellow and less intense compared to other strains I’ve vaped. This strain is bred for flavor and terpene profiles so the THC content may be lower.

Natrona Strawberry Trop Cherry - STRNG Seeds
W18 F9 3/8-14 Harvest week 3/9
The Strawberry Trop Cherry’s hung in the closet hanging to dry. With summer temperatures outside harvest week, the humidity in the garage was over 75% and the temps in the garage were in the mid-70s. I did not want mold after all this work. In the closet with the air conditioner running and the door closed, I can achieve 54-60%rh and temps of 66-74F.
The S. Trop Cherry were #1 40’,’ #2 50” tall and inches from the lights and #1 was overshadowed by the Cadillacs. I flushed 3x with flawless finish.
I used all 577 wet trim of all 6 plants in the strawberry collection in bubble hash. I was in awe as the bagged leaves swirled in the washing machine, the water was Kool-Aid red and later was a deep wine red. The strawberries show their true colors.
These were harvested on 3/9 and dried for 2 weeks dry weights taken on 3/27.
Strawberry Trop Cherry 1 149g wet 10g dry
Strawberry Trop Cherry 2 522g wet 62g dry
This totals 72 grams or 2.57 ounces
The yield is like my previous auto harvests. For a photo period strain I think the yield would have been larger per plant given their size.
The taller Cadillacs overshadowed these as they were pushed to one side. The smaller harvest is confirming my preference for growing autoflowers since the harvest is about the same size but is finished in 8-10 weeks seed to harvest rather than 18-20 or more. However, for my first time growing photos in the tent, I feel this was successful.

The Strawberry collection is from STRNG SEEDS for a contest i won. Cadillac was the parent and the S -Lectric Lemonade and S-:Trop cherry are thr crosses I grew them together and am overwhelmed by their size and bud density. Excited to be trying them soon.
@WhiteEdge, I hadn't heard of them before i won these seeds in a contest. This breeder breeds for flavor/terpene profiles. I am curious, do they really taste like 🍓.
I hope I dont screw them up.
These all look lush and vibrant. I find myself wanting to fill my tent to the brim and having to hold back. Humidity is a bigger issue than physical space for me
Haha I like the "you should have seen the look I gave him" at the suggestion of topping due to the big stretch haha that made me chuckle. Looking like a beautiful tent!!
@WonderJo, Frostbanger , Blue cheese and Apollo are good ones. These were easy to grow and good smoke. Fractal was a good smoke but hell to trim. I usually grow 1 seed at a time of various strains to get variety and results in a small harvest that doesn't last long. Merry Christmas 🎄
