Started with biogrow lightly. I think the soil had some good nutrients in.

Is it normal for the pistols to be so brown at this stage? Should the buds be fatter? Is it because of high temperature?

hey fruitgrower, good question, every genetic ages in different ways according to the different environment it's in. I'm guessing you're also worried because it seems early on. As you know the gens you're growing are large yielders, so they're gonna need more time whatever happens. What I say to myself is that pistills will all turn brown during the drying and curing anyway so it's not really a good indicator of when the plant's ready. Right now you've just finished the stretch for the plant which is a stage where there's a lot of action going on, now the plant is going to get buffer, and you've got a fair few weeks ahead of you yet. Sit back and mind the plants, but this stage is going to be pretty much on cruise control, so sit back and relax. hope this helps ! 🚀

Looking close. I really do think it's nearly ready, probably going to harvest on my next day off. Can I get a second opinion please?

I moved the fans around now and took two cfl out.... Temps are now around 29c, when it nearer to harvest I'll take the other two cfl out and maybe turn the blue light off on the led? What do you think guys?

@Fruitgrower, you can get smaller ones, but you should really get something that looks like that thats the main point i was making 😉

So two very different opinions there then..... 😂Now I'm confused. I'm seeing mostly cloudy trichomes and 5%amber

@Fruitgrower, yeah... that’s another factor altogether...personal preference in the final product. I like em all, so some harvest will be mostly clear trichs, sometimes mostly cloudy or amber. Sometimes I like a baked potato, sometimes French fries, and sometimes potato salad. All yummy. Very different.

I was thinking to harvest on the next 6 days probably on the 5th day Sunday the 8th or Monday 9th. Otherwise it will be a week longer..... I did by a little Jewelers Loupe but I find it pretty shit tbh

@Fruitgrower Check out my diaries. It was my first grow as well and then I had several more seeds so made an other one.

@Fruitgrower, I think you did right. Anyways the breeder says it takes 7 weeks from seeds and the minimum I saw that was done 10 weeks and it can take up to 14-15 weeks. But nice to grow really cool plant. The first one I overdried it was like a dry herbs but the next one is proper I left outside for 4 days and then placed in the jar and every day take out for a bit longer to avoid mould. Now it is fine. I just don't really like the effect of the buds. Do you ?
Ferenc
Ferenc
@Fruitgrower, Not really I did not really like this strain I mean I liked to grow but the smoke itself is not the best I will see what you say when you are done.

@Fruitgrower asked “Is it normal for the pistils to be so brown at this stage? Should the buds be fatter...” With cannabis EVERYTHING is normal, because we just don’t know what’s going to happen. Just like the kids of two parents don’t necessarily look alike, plants express individual characteristics that don’t always align with our belief of what is ‘right’. Brown pistils (pardon my spelling correction in your quote but it is quite a different word hehe) can mean ready, but often not. You need to see the trichomes under a microscope. Short of that, a trained eye can discern overall color tone without seeing individual trichs, but it’s tough to do without experience. New-ish growers tend to harvest way too early. Fight off that urge. Let her finish, almost as nature intends, but without the complete drying out and dying while still in the earth. You will enjoy your harvest. And you will do better next time. Warmest regards!

@Fruitgrower, high temps will do that. And why pistil color is not a good indicator of trichomes maturation. I hate a jewelers loupe. I have a digital microscope that plugs into USB. Not perfect but ok for $50
Fruitgrower
Fruitgrower
@growdoctordc, but also as you can see in week 6ish the pistils (correction noted) 😉were already brown probably due to high temps and stress
Fruitgrower
Fruitgrower
@growdoctordc, I am trying to fight that urge lol. I did buy a little Jewelers Loupe but I can hardly see through the fucking thing! So I just zoom in real close on the photos every day and I can kinda see where it at as its maturing (you can do this on your smart phone on the grow diaries too 😉) although it's not 100% accurate and I have followed a couple of other grows to use as a comparison. I have ordered another microscope but still awaiting delivery. I am flushing now and giving no nutrients, I have shortened the light cycle to help boost our and lower temps a bit and turned the blue led off so it's only getting red light.
