Transition from seedling to vegetative. Bumped nutrients up to “early veg” in GH feed chart with a little hesitation, Alaskan Purps are working on their 3rd set of leaves but Cheese started 4 days behind the rest after Himalayan Gold turned out to be a dud and only has its first set coming in. Nutrient amounts are total for 10+gal rdwc, not ml per gallon

Water change keeping nutrient levels at previous Early Growth standards. Have been turning light up by ~1k lux a day for the past week. Added +1k lux today with intentions of starting to add +2k lux a day soon on the way to ~40k. Lux at canopy currently at ~20-22k lux. decided to top the (taller) Alaskan Purps at the 4th node and topped the Chunky Skunk at the 5th. Cheese still not ready for topping

Light raised to ~40k lux (varies across scrog from 30-50k). First full Late Growth nutrient feeding. FIM attempt on cheese sucked, had to top, expect delays. Everything else starting to grow into the trellis. Found Chunky Skunk roots in the res, Cheese had started to go that way too, pulled them back. Past weeks have pretty consistently had an initial bump in ph the first day or two but after knocking back down seemed to settle at 6.0-6.1 on their own.

Last week in veg? Keeping nutes at Late Veg amounts. Light at ~40k lux (~30-50k depending on location on trellis). Hopefully next week will be transition to flower, will find out if I filled the net out too much or not then. Luckily I have the 2nd scrog net meant for flower support if lower net gets too full we can just let her grow up and support her higher

Transition week. Lights on 12/12 schedule starting now. Raised light to an accurate 16”-18” where previous 16” citations were not accurate because of scrog net being pushed up and growth above the net (was more likely closer to 12” then initial 16” distance after net had been pushed up a little and growth above the net factored in). Also turned light up to approx 60k lux (50-70k depending on location at canopy) Last week got a little nute burn but pulled tds back by adding water-only as res dropped from plants drinking. TDS rested around 1400 after burn hit while closer to 1700. Plants are drinking so much/ water being added so frequently the res was only hot for 1-2 days before tds reading was back down to 1400ish so hoping the impact will be minimal. Also noticed that last week ph dropped rather than rose during the week. Previously ph would rise but get knocked back down and seemed to settle around 6-6.2 on its own while this week it did the opposite and dropped to around 5.6-5.7 and wanted to settle at that on its own.

Nute burn after res change for the 2nd time, but I was coming in at 75%. Worked new charts for 35, 50, 60, and 75%. Coming in at 60% this week instead of 75 Growth exploded last week. Raised the light and they’re chasing it. Trimmed the undercarriage for airflow and humidity concerns . +1day: raised the light to the roof and turned up to full power

Clearly that net was already too full when I flipped to 12/12, this is way more stretch than I expected. Alaskan Purps are 33” and Cheese is 26” Been trimming the undercarriage more for airflow. 60% nute dilution seems to be working well. Flowers starting to be visible, esp on cheese.

Clearly that net was already too full when I flipped to 12/12, this is way more stretch than I expected. Alaskan Purps are 41” and Cheese is 33”, lamp to plant distance referenced from Alaskan Purple. I’m not sure WTF is going on with this rear Alaskan Purple, noticed it was “wispy” with thin leaves later in veg, that’s continuing more obvious now and bud formation seems to be lacking. Same nutes, air, water, buckets, etc etc etc as Front Alaskan Purp but looks totally different, and questionably healthy. While doing undercarriage maint I noted the main stalk for this one seems to have just stopped growing right after it got past the trellis, and everything up at the canopy are smaller side branches. Buds def starting to form on all of them now

What’s going on with this rear Alaskan Purple? It’s top leaves are all thin and wispy-like, curling down, and bud formation on it is totally lacking compared to the front Alaskan Purple. Going back to weeks 3&4 you can see these symptoms showing way back too

Been debating trying to supercrop some of this Alaskan Purple but hesitant this late in flowering. Decided to ride it out and see what happens, it’s a learning experience I guess. Buds are starting to show a little frost

Took the two tallest branches on the weird looking rear Alaskan Purple and super cropped it so at least my Alaskan Purple canopy was even, still entirely too tall but even. Cheese and Chunky Skunk looking good. Chunky Skunk living up to the name and really bulking up.

Love that dwc setup you have going! Mind me asking what you're using for lighting? Those plants sure look happy. Can't wait to see how those Alaskan Purps turn out.

Greenhorn_Greenthumb
Greenhorn_Greenthumbcommented5 years ago
@Mrs_Larimar, the curl on the leaves does appear to have gotten less severe, but the buds are still certainly not fattening up as much and a few other weird things I’ve noticed like an abundance of pistils that seem to be unusually thick compared to the rest are still around. I looked over your comments and that flowchart from last week, from everything I can tell she should be doing ok

@samadhi, Thanks! These things are stretching far more than I expected though and I think I def filled the net out too much before flipping to 12/12. I should be adding the next week either tonight or tomorrow, the growth is huge now, too much even

Do you plan to intervene to slow the stretch via supercropping, etc. or just let it ride? They look beautiful but if they are just starting to show flowers, and you're already getting closer to the lights than you'd like, I worry that they may double in size. 😬 Still though, amazing work!
Greenhorn_Greenthumb
Greenhorn_Greenthumbcommented5 years ago
@samadhi, I haven’t really thought about supercropping and have only planned on letting it ride and seeing what happens. Alaskan Purps have 14” to the light and cheese has 21”, so I have a little room to spare as long as the majority or the stretch already happened
