Week 1 - start of a new cycle and seedling has popped with no issues. Looks like she’s gonna be a strong grower👍. Not much to it - 12 hour soak of the bean in tap water and another 24 hours approx. between a damp paper towel.

While it appears to be working and advancing growth a little faster than expected - the smell makes me wanna walk into oncoming traffic. Week 3 update - all is generally well coming into week 3. Her growth rate is steady and we should be able to fim at some point this week. Getting a little leaf twist on the lower fans for unknown reasons but doesn’t look like an issue of concern at this point. She’ll get spiked with some Bactrex this week too and we’ll likely cut out the foliar feeds now that she’s got her legs under ‘er. Thanks for swing’n in as always👍😎👊.

After the snip she sorta crunched into herself for a day or so and then burst out growing like mad again👍, she’s fixn to be a real step performing plant as we come into late veg. Cut out the boom boom spray, spiked the last feed with some Bactrex and should be starting with some LST this week. Alls well yall👍😎👊.

Week 5 update - She’s growing real well and we just continue to spread er out to widen the canopy and encourage more growth tips. You can see the tip count change week to week now which is kinda cool. This approach to Fim’n autos is paying huge dividends the last couple grows👍. Think I’ve given up on any kind of defo during veg. Unless it’s serving a very specific purpose. I’ve left this one alone and it seems to have paid off. Week 5 update - she’s runn’n into heavy veg. Now and looks like transition is starting but bloom is not quite there just yet. I’m starting to really appreciate the ease of watering with plain tap water too. While soil is messier than coco the time saved mixing nutes is a big bonus.
Tried to get a good pic of what the fim did and you can see in the photos that we’ve got at least 3 main branches extended out from the node where we made the cut👍. So cool! This method is my go-to for training autos and this one looks like it’ll be just as, if not more successful than the last auto run👍. As always, the looks and support is appreciated y’all. Week 7 update - coming into week 7... of veg... yeah, it’s pretty obvious now that this girl is a photo so I guess OS sent me the non-auto version of ‘er. We’ve got a bit of a problem to solve now and I’m not quite sure how I’m gonna do it as her two neighbour autos are currently in flower. So much for the comparative auto organic side-by-side too👎. It’s all good and we’ll roll with it somehow to stay on pace for the next cycle. Just another one of those annoying, unexpected grow problems that pops up I guess🤪. As a plus - good ol Bruce is a vegetating beast that is has potential now to yield pretty huge I think. Don’t expect to be waiting on this and will likely try to move er into flower next week. Just might have to jam er in with the white widow (something I absolutely did not intend on doing). Cheers y’all👊
Nov. 10 update - looks like the plan to flip to flower may wait a few more days. During defo we found a couple of aphids on er🤬. Not many but where there’s a couple, there’s always a potential future problem. Zapped er with some diluted neem oil and dish soap and will probably treat 2-3 more times prior to the flip. She’s got some breathing room now though as we’ve moved out both autos to the small cab and the widow into this one. Alls good unless these little bastards start multiplying.👍

Week 8 update - noted exactly 2 aphids during defo last week which was enough to warrant a couple neem oil treatments prior to flip. Aside from that, alls good and flip took place nov. 13. Gotta say that I’m so far impressed with the ease of care and growth rate. She’s healthy and took well to the fim. Gonna be interesting to see how she fares with the extra room in the cabinet. Flower shows come’n up😎🤘.

Week 9 update - well this is certainly frustrating as all hell. The aphid issue has been knocked down on this plant but it’s in full swing with new nymphs on the neighbouring white widow.🤬. This is annoying but we’re considering big it fortunate that we only just started transition and are still able to give each plant a full spray. They’ll both be given a defo and pull back this week which should also assist to knock down the issue. Probably gonna have to hit em for 2 weeks to ensure we properly knock down the infestation. It’s always something isn’t it folks👎. Thanks for checkn er out👊.

Week 10 update - into the 2nd week of transition now and all I can really say is that this plant is a champ. Our little aphid issue is now a full on infestation with the neighbouring white widow yet this plant seems to be resisting them for the most part. It’s actually really weird - we spotted the aphids on this plant first and then they exploded on the widow but kinda seem to have left this one alone. Either way, we hit both cabinets with a lady bug bomb to try and get the issue under control. This plant is going to make out just fine I think (here’s hoping for the widow though🤞). She’s turning over into bloom quite nicely and I continue to be amazed at the ease of using the biotabs lineup👍. All is generally well, the troops are munchn on aphids like ferocious piranha on a cow carcass👍. Thanks for stopp’n in as always - flower shows coming into full force now😎.

Week 11 update - into the third week of stretch now and still lookn good. The ladybugs have definitely kept the aphid issue under control on this girl. Had to pitch the neighbouring plant which was just too far gone but that will help the situation even more. Wiped down the whole cabinet plus the drainage trays with a bleach solution just so that we’ve done everything possible to wipe em out. Also ruthlessly defo’d er to thin the numbers as much as possible. We should be good for ripening if everything stays on track. Thanks as always for take’n peek😎👊.

Week 12 update - it’s hard to stay positive after losing a plant to something like this but we’re still happy to report that the aphid issue is “under control” at the moment🤞. The defos and cleaning have done a lot and the ladybugs have done the rest. We’re still dealing with stragglers so it’ll probably be an ongoing battle and one we might not even win🤷♂️. She’s developing really well however and she’s showing some true resistance which is good. Cautious optimism right now👍😬

Week 13 update - on the fifth week of flower and aphid problem remains under control. They’re still present but really don’t seem to like this plant and they don’t appear to be growing in numbers. She’s still worth seeing through at this point and flowering nicely👌. No significant smell yet. I’ve witnessed some yellowing of the fan leaf tips the whole grow but have no idea what it could be as the rest of the plant is healthy and vibrant. Biotabs seems to be doing its job quite well👍. Should start to get really interesting As she thickens up.

Week 14 update - 6th week of flower and happy to report that there are. O further signs of the aphids which is pretty cool. Figured we’d have to battle em for the rest of the grow but they appear to be gone👍. Starting to see some rust coloured spotting on the leaves so think that may explain the tip burning too - possible calmag def. I know how this turns out if you don’t supplement so spiked the feed water with some calmag just to be safe. Important late weeks of flower are coming up and all is generally well👍.

Week 15 update - 7th week of flower and she’s frosting up nicely. Gotta figure another 2-3 weeks at this point and don’t expect a heavy yield. The calmag seems to be deterring The leaf issue but only time will tell. If it ain’t calmag then it could be light burn so moved up the lamp a couple inches just to be safe. Looking forward to the finish and it’s approaching fast👌👍.

Week 16 update - 8th week of flower and all I can say is - meh... trichs are colouring out well and expect we aren’t too far away. Kinda sad really as the buds haven’t thickened out as hoped. We should be looking at a pretty skinny crop. Just can’t help but feel we left something on the table here with this grow and I can only wonder what my traditional nute regimen might’ve seen ‘er do. Despite this one nagging issue (really just my ego demanding Better weight results) - she’s growing well and the calmag shots appear to be stemming any further leaf issues. Think as soon as we start seeing some colours pop on the buds we’ll look to the flush. Not long now folks - thanks for hang’n in with it👊.

Week 17 - week 9 of flower and she looks almost less developed than last week. Trichs are ambering a little on the tops as expected but the middle and lower portions are glassy and reflective - not near ready yet. Cut out the calmag too. At this point I’m just banking on ‘er starting a rapid fade this week and next🤞. I got a full hydro run ready to go for this space and I’m getting impatient. Alls can do is pray she thickens out before the trichs mature. Still go’n strong folks. Thanks for swing’n in👊😎.

Week 19 update - starting into 11th week of flower now. Trichs right in the sweet spot but she really hasn’t turned over as hoped. The pics are also deceiving as she’s very skinny and underdeveloped in terms of both frost and bud structure. We could chop any time now but will likely flush the medium one more time instead and wait until next weekend. She’s been a bit of a weird one for sure. Harvest report to follow on next update👍.
Background
Original Sensible has been in the bizz for 25 some odd years and has its roots in the UK. Don’t know much about em but I do know I liked the photos of their Bruce Banner Auto so had to pick up some beans. This strain Looks to be a balanced hybrid consisting of some real faves - Colorado Ghost OG x Strawberry Diesel x Auto Ghost OG. She’s reported as a short flower’r - even for an auto at about 65-70 days. Let’s see what happens - Hulk smash!
If you’ve seen most of my other stuff than you know I’m huge on botanicare. That said and due to some gentle prodding, we’re expanding our horizons and giving the full Biotabs nute lineup a try. The grow will be in a straight soil/perlite mix - entirely organic. It’ll be interesting to see how this nute regimen stacks up against a companion grow with BioBizz products but in either case I’m not expecting huge yields. Just the bud and smoke quality that the hardcore organic growers all rave about. Thanks for taken a look.👍😎👊
And so ends our foray with the biotabs lineup. I have to say I’m pretty impressed with the nutrient system as it seems she had most of everything that she needed for the majority of the grow. Method suffered a little as she didn’t take to the FIM as initially hoped. Still got 2 mains but 3 or 4 wouldve definitely been preferred. The plant itself was a champ. EXTREMELY resilient and manageable in terms of foliage. That said, organic growing is not without its pitfalls and for the reasons below we will be sticking to hydro and soilless applications indoors.

Her odour wasn’t particularly strong for any part of the cycle but there was definitely a notable diesel scent coming off ‘er both pre and post chop. Maybe even a bit of an earthy, peppery scent too. Gonna go with 3/5 lolli’s until we really know what we have post-cure. Same applies to the taste, definitely prominent diesel in ‘er but so far - I’m not seeing anything overly different that what I would expect from other mediums🤔.
As far as effects go; ripped the bong real good and laughed hysterically like I hadn’t in some time👍. For now and until further testing is complete - she’s strong and very uplifting with an average/typical come down. Still not sure where I’m putting her in the hybrid spectrum yet but 4/5 lolli’s at this point for sure👌.
Update - after a couple vape sessions she’s quickly starting to prove herself a notable any-time sativa. Uplifting and euphoric, relaxing but yet not quite sedative.
Update - after some curing time in the jars I have to say that the terp. Profile is impressive. She’s easily the dankest, stickiest nugs we’ve grown to date. The strawberry has definitely come out with the diesel now too. Not the densest, but definitely living up to the all organic benefits touted by its proponents👍. I’m Happier about the turnout on this grow with each passing session😉😎

I just can’t get behind indoor soil grows anymore. A little less hassle in terms of nutes yes, but the growth rate is much slower and there’s always that increased chance of pests come’n in with the product... and wouldn’t ya know it - aphids absolutely infested both the grow spaces and tore up a white widow so bad we had to pitch ‘er. This plant however, was like a battle hardened warrior fighting em off. After a couple neem treatments, some major defoliation, 3 lady bug bombs and the kitchen sink being thrown at er - we got rid of every last one of those little bastards. She came off wayyyy better than the other 3 plants and it was impressive to say the least.
2 coconut emojis for the tainted medium and yes - I definitely took off an extra coconut due to bitterness with the aphid issue.

And now the final numbers. She trimmed out easily and she’s definitely got some serious goo to ‘er - excellent dankness factor despite a very fluffy bud structure. As expected and after 7 days on the rack (1 more day than needed due to laziness) she dried up quite a bit. After stripping the stems we did have a lot of popcorn bud. Fully usable but still popcorn. The head buds are of acceptable quality but not massive by any stretch. What she lacks in bag appeal she makes up for with effect👍.
Considering this ended up being a photo grow vs. What was supposed to be an auto grow - there is simply no excuse for anything less than 2oz. Thankfully, she didn’t disappoint in that respect coming in at 2.7oz off the stem. Much better than originally anticipated so no complaints there.
3/5 palm trees for being “acceptable” overall.

@CRiSPrGrow, yeah finally got around to it. Doing a break cycle between photo runs so figured I’d try all the organic nute swag I have with autos. So far so good but that spray dude - seriously. It smells like cat gizz mix with dead people.🤮
@mr_h_kovert, very true! And I’m still workn through a solution. Options are kinda limited given the pot size and I can’t let er veg. Forever. Trying to stay with the run sched. Too so this is a bit of a head scratcher🤷♂️. Any ideas?

i really value the time and effort you put into your journals dubs. Hugely informative and educational in many respects.
I'll be interested to see how my predominantly bio-tabs regime compares in terms of growth and yield - a lesson learnt from last grow has led to getting the tabs in the soil immediately as there is a little time delay in them breaking down so they went in when the seed was sown.
No mention of Orgatrex in the nute review - might this have made a difference?

It seems like you forgot to use either the pk liquid boost or the pk compost tea of biotabs! Thats what you need to bring out all those organic growing benefits for the flavor/taste and extra effect complexity!
I did a 'full organic' grow a few years ago but I was very ignorant and only mixed some basic nutrient powders with my soil and didn't add compost tea or anything the flowers ended up having near to no taste.
--> Now I just started a biotabs grow and I can't wait till they are week 2-3 of flower and I can finally brew the organic pk compost tea for them :D
I come from 100+ grows in different systems, most of them in hydro in dwc. I get pretty good results with dwc but there are 2 reasons I am trying biotabs:
1 - I want the plant to decide how much nutrients it eats, with the idea of getting a smoother smoke (in hydro I feel like its a trade off between a 20+ day flush or feeding for longer for thicker buds, less than 7 days flush doesn't change a thing for me vs no flush, I really need more than 20 days to notice a big difference...)
2 - I want more terpenes!!! This is what the main catch is for me (and most people I think, its either you want to 'just add water' benefit, or you want max quality and choose for full organics to get more taste). In hydro I would need to add fermented/compost teas and other bacteria to get a more 'full' taste with more terpenes, but then I struggle if the tank goes above 22.5c it starts to smell....

I find that most organic co.s will own the fact they don’t derive the same yield results but no one ever makes mention Of the other fact that regardless of system - a plant will chemically change the various nutrients it consumes in order to utilize them for growth. This chemical change happens regardless of whether the nutes are natural or synthetic so; in the end, on a strictly biological level - does it really matter if the nutrient starts out as organic or synthetic? 🤔. That question’s been roasting my brain stem for 6 months now. Same with phenotypes - how do we know this is the Bruce banner #3 pheno if the seed hasn’t yet even sprouted? 🤔🤔🤔. Sigh... lol
@TheBudWhisperer, ahh - the good old sales pitch...buy this and you will grow beanstalks....and organic ones at that!!! Organic is of secondary importance to me.....well presently anyhow. It's the claimed simplicity that pulled me in although as you've quite rightly pointed out, if the tabs are water only then why all the additional products? Emperor's new clothes perhaps?!?! I'll see how the ladies get on with the bio tabs manual being followed pretty much to a tee and fo sho gromo - any problems I'll be shouting you loudly!

thanks for the detailed response bro. used the biotabs for the first time this year though not as a stand alone. fulvic acid and calmag were on hand. next grow i'll be using a few more of their products and I'll be accounting for the fact that the tabs take a little while to break down. [either get them in the soil a little earlier or provide a little feed until they take effect.] hopefully i can lock this regime down.......as i am a simpleton!!!
@mr_h_kovert, actually very impressed with it as an “organic” nute system. This’ll be a 17 week + grow and the only thing she’s needed aside from tap water was a couple shots of calmag to get to the finish. So it is easy and does do what they say it does. But with indoor, I will not be utilizing it as a standalone nute system again - the yield results just aren’t there IMO. I had wayyyy better than expected results with a purple haze when the tabs were used as a supplement to my normal nute regimen. Might incorporate them that way in the future if I’m growing in coco. It’ll def. get the nod for next years outdoor. The “all organic” folks should love this system for sure. I’m partial to “synthetics” myself (which are actually “organic” too just don’t tell the purists that - I’ll save that soapbox lecture for another time😉).

I just wanted to ask, do you know the main reason for the burning of the tips? I've been watching your grow and I have the same strain and I'm having the same symptoms on my girls. I would like to stop it from spreading 'cos that might affect my final yields.. I have been giving them less nitrogen and more PK and more bacteria but I have raised my Ec in overall so it might be nute/light burn or it could be some deficiency caused by too much something (Nutelock).
@Shagrath, hey dude - in my case, my best guess is light burn and could be ur problem based on the height of your lights from canopy - mine now sit at about 20” (6” higher than yours) and I haven’t seen the problem get worse. As far as your grow is concerned - I had trouble seeing any issues at all with Your leaf tips. To be safe I’d bump your light up now just in case. All that said, mine is an all organic soil grow so my issues may show a little differently than yours in a hydro application. As far as I can tell though, looks like your plants on point so your nute mix is likely just fine👍. If you’ve got other more detailed pics you want me to look at, reach out any time. Otherwise, ur plants lookn like a winner for sure bud👍. After a 9 week veg. She should turn out beastly😎.
