Week 3 update - well, we made it through week 2 with res. Changes every 4 days and so far no issues, no rot and no other bs issues. Amp’d up the nute concentrations now that she’s got ‘er legs. She’s was showing a little nitro deficient. On another look at the last weeks I don’t think the prior issue was algae (indicating light leaks). It could’ve been contaminants in the pump on week 1 which has since been removed so who knows. The addition of the H2O2 last week has since been removed for obvious reasons. I simply can’t continue adding this throughout the grow as it’ll only serve to kill off the bad stuff, but also all the good stuff that she’s gonna need. That would likely include the hydroguard so what would even be the point of using it otherwise. Doubled up the frozen water bottles last week but we’re now down to 1 to avoid damaging the roots that are now dangling for their food. Again, this potentially won’t be an option soon once the root ball fills out so we’ll see how it goes. This’ll likely be the make or break week to see if she carries through (unlike the last attempt). So far, so good but I’m holding my breathe and will continue to be throughout the grow I think🤞🤞🤞. Hope’n for her growth to kick into high gear now that she’s got er fingers well into the res. Thanks for swing’n and stay tuned! Disaster can strike at any point.👊
Oct. 10 update - talking to your pitcher during a no-hitter is something you simply don’t do. It would seem this is also the case for microbial issues you have with your reservoir when growing hydro🤬🤬🤬. After just 24 hours without including a shot of H2O2 my res. Looks like it coughed up a foot fungus and the roots are now showing signs of early stage rot.... FUUUUCK!!! The temps in the res. (Which I cant fix) are proving unsustainable without an anti-microbial additive. Changed out the res. Again and added in a charge shot of H2O2 in the hopes that the plant can shed the rot and recover. History is slowly repeating itself again folks - let’s hope that we can fix this and at least get this grow back on track (albeit with what is certainly going to be a decreased yield, salvage grow at this point). Boo urns👎👎👎
Oct 9 - res.change
Oct 10 - res. Change w/H2O2 additive
Background
Here we go again🙄. My next attempt at a hydro application after the utter failure that was the last. If I screw this up again then I will potentially consider giving up on it entirely😂.
*Note: nute mix numbers are per 10litres.*
This one’s interesting - indica dominant, super tasty and high yielding. Fastbuds does not disappoint on the whole so shes def, getting the hydro application. Here’s to hoping for a monster!🤞
@Visualize, nawe - all dosages are halved and it’s botanicare so not unfamiliar. My issue (if I have one at all) is temps. And there’s no cost effective way to fix this either. Who knows - I could just be f$&kn crazy too🤪
@TheBudWhisperer,maybe to much nutes from the beginning?i dont have any probs with dwc and i only use 3 components lately bionova superhydromix and when 3 weeks into flower i use pk13/14 and green sensations that’s it and never had an issue🙏Maybe less is more😉😉
@Punchman, appreciate the resource dude. Might give that a shot on subseeuentgrows. My issue seems to be temps and fungal growth more than anything else. That’s what I’ve drilled down to as the problem based on process of elimination. We’re gonna see how things shake out on this one and reassess as/if necessary in the event of another total failure. Thanks again for the link. Sounds like a time saver👍👍👊
@TheBudWhisperer, I’m in the same boat as far as humidity but I’m grabbing a new 30P today hopefully, heres a great new product I just ordered for hydroponics, it only helps with PH but I had to pass it on

@mr_h_kovert, thanks buddy. Yeah - love all methods but this one may be a problem for my environment. Might be no cost effective way to keep temps down enough to avoid root rot... either way it was worth one more shot. Week 2/3 will probably tell the tale👍. Cheers dude👊
Make sure you don't have any light leak. Algae usually comes from light. Make sure you don't have any light leaks between the hydrotons. Also the site where you are inserting your air tubes.
Is hydroguard not doing much for you? H2O2 will certainly kill every thing including the good ones. Bennies usually like temp 23-24C. I have a peltier cooler that I've drilled into my DWC bucket and have my temp set at 23C, and my grow tent is about 26-27C.
How much air are you pumping?
Also, you can insulate your bucket. there are some cheap insulators on amazon.
But your plant looks fine in the picture. Just slight nute burn if that. Take some pics of your roots.
Meanwhile, look at heisenberg tea. this is the ultimate root cleaner with good microbes.
@MaryJaneUSA, surprising to hear that temps should be at 23c - if that’s the case then it has to be light leakage through the hydro tons. I maintain between 21-23c o. Average and I’m getting algae buildup still. My air pumps good - 2 stones in a 5gal bucket so def. enough. The h2o2 is essentially a desperate effort to avoid this bs. I’ll def. get a cover on the net pot and see if that helps. Thanks for the thoughts bud - truly appreciated👊👊👊
Hey there!
Thanks so much for growing FastBuds 🙌🏼
Let's hope you can work some hydro magic of this beauty!
Looking forward to seeing more pics!
If you need any assistance, don't hesitate to let us know!
Happy Growing! 💚🌱
@mr_h_kovert, yeah I have a problem. They’re all in various stages and within the next month or so it should slow down to only 4. It’s harvest season and indoor changeover so It’s straight anarchy right now. Probably shoulda thought this trough a little more but I just can’t help myself😉. Lol
@TheBudWhisperer, to be fair it's gone well so far, still a good learning curve though. I had 2 previous attempts in soil neither of which went well! I am enjoying DWC though
Great looking buds...in order to keep the roots healty and clear try a batch of nute solution and freeze it into cubes like you put in a glass and place about 4 cubes a day in the Bucket....i know its a pain in the ass but it keeps your roots cooler and healthier....happy holiday’s and best wishes...sorry i did not see this sooner....🙏🙏❤️❤️
@Silky_smooth, all good silk and thanks for stopp’n in! Honestly - buds are just finishing the dry and look’n fluffy and light - not on par with my typical results by any stretch. She was stunted from the start cuz taproot was too far from the res. BUT - finally got my dwc mix dialed in and made it to harvest. Next run will be all hydro for ease of maintenance and manageability. It’s just too versatile a growing system to ignore. Thanks for the inspiration girl! And best to you and yours for a “dope” 2020😉👊
@Green_T, cheers bud! She comes down as soon as I have a little time for it. Buds will unfortunately need a wash though as this one wasn’t able to avoid the aphid infestation. Brutal but salvageable👍
@mr_h_kovert, it’s actually a little surprising yeah dude👍. I did a Cali snow that was about this y’all and it farted out to over 4oz. I get anywhere near that I’d be blown away. Still a few weeks left so who knows. She could be a champ after all - even with all the issues and bs👍👍🤘👊
@mr_h_kovert, all things considered I should just be happy it's still alive but I can't help but be annoyed that she won't reach full potential. Is what it is and still a good learning experience. Already looking forward to the next attempt in DWC. Thanks for the look as always Harry👊
