10/12:
They're looking great! I just gave them a little spring water today since they're getting compost tea tomorrow.
I transplanted two of the smallest ones into 3 gallon pots today, so there's just one left..and it seems stunted. I also turned on the 3rd set of quantum boards today.
10/13:
I fed them all about 16 ounces each of compost tea today. I had brewed 5 gallons of tea using 90% rainwater collected the day before, and 10% aquarium water. My tea contained about 2 cups of very rich compost a handful of biochar, a tablespoon of 7 diff species of endo-mycorrhizal fungi + 25 species of beneficial bacteria, 8 tablespoons of big bloom (mainly for the earthworm castings), 2 tablespoons of liquid molasses, and a tablespoon of kelp me kelp you. It had been brewing for 48 hours and was very frothy.
10/14:
WIth so much light and airflow, they are drying out very quickly.
I fed them about a third-gallon each of water with grow big, big bloom, kelp me kelp you, boomerang, cal-mag+iron, armor si, and soluble humic acid.
I also foliar fed them a few times with humic acid and big bloom.
I'm seeing signs of calcium deficiency on a few plants today, but the tea should correct that. I'll add cal/mag to the watering regimen anyway.
10/15:
I foliar fed with big bloom and a little kelp a few times today, and douched everybody with about 16 ounces of Ph adjusted tap water with a strong dose of cal-mag.
10/16:
I fed everybody about a quarter-gallon containing all the good stuff, at full strength for the first time. I also misted everybody really well with Ph adjusted spring water a few times throughout the day, just to rinse off any built-up nutes. None of the new growth shows any signs of calcium deficiency, but I dosed them heavy with cal-mag again with this feeding.
I did some leaf-tucking today, but have decided not to FIM anybody. Since I've overplanted, I really don't want to increase their individual footprints at all.
It's starting to get colder outside at night now, so I peeled back the insulation in the attic, above the closet, and my temps are even more manageable. Very optimistic now about running the additional 200w grow light in the space above the main area!👌
10/17:
I see a lot of overnight growth today. 👍
I sprayed everybody down with Ph adjusted tap water a few more times and rearranged the garden a little bit.
10/18:
Week 2 is ending well. Very happy with their growth this week!👍
Today, I did a myco root drench, with a little added boomerang for all the aminos, vitamins, and earthworm castings.
I soaked everybody thoroughly with about 3/4 gallon each and let them sit in their trays to soak it all up. I'll let them go completely dry before I feed them again so that they really drink it all in next time.
I lowered the lights to 21 inches above the tallest plants right at dark, so they'll wake up to an especially bright sunshiny day!
I potted up the last seedling today in a 3 gallon pot...that's 19 plants in 14.5 square feet of available lower garden area!
15 that are turning 3 weeks old tonight, 1 that's turning 2 weeks old, and the 2 babies, which are turning 1 week old today...(Happy Sproutday!)
That can't work for much longer.. especially since they are surprisingly staying shorter and branching more than I expected with the 3000k+660nm's. Maybe something to do with the first week and a half they were under 3500k+660nm. Rather than growing taller early on, they are branching like crazy. This, too, could present a problem with such limited space.
The top section is roughly 8 more square feet (2.5 feet x 3.5 feet) of available garden area, with about 3 square feet currently taken by the evaporative cooler and the carousel I have it sitting on. I'm considering trying to run the whole op without the evaporative cooler in the top section so that I can fit a couple more plants under the 200w.
But that's gonna be very tough to keep cool if it doesn't hurry up and become wintertime where I live...
...or maybe I'll just devote the top area to my Stardawg and the runtiest two hybrids and keep the cooler running..
What to do, what to do....👈
@@@@Tryhard,
Like landing a jumbo jet on a municipal air strip!
If all goes well, I'll have 19 plants in a little under 18 sq ft....and that just doesn't seem feasible..hopefully I get a few that are just a big cola with no side branching....the bitch of it, is that a SOG with no access from the sides or rear is impossible to manage, so I can't use a trellis net.
Be careful buddy we done the same thing and had a problem with some water run off from above to the light below and nearly caused more then a little problem 😱
They look healthy and strong 💪🌱😜
@HydroGrowLED,
Ya, that was a concern, but the evaporative cooler in the closet is keeping RH right where it needs to be.👍
My vapor pressure deficit has actually never been so good...(.9)
@Silverback_Guerilla, and another thing I noticed I was using a mars hydro light wasn’t the tsl that I use now I think they have meanwell drivers too but it was mars eco and had fans above it and it used to make the ones above not grow as good and the soil used to dry out in hours cos of the bottom heating 😑
🌱💪🌱
@HydroGrowLED,
Ya, thanks man!. About 30 years ago, I did the same thing I'm doing now, but was growing hydro back then, with HPS and MH running below. It was always so sketchy handling water a foot or two above a 600w HPS..I am less worried now with soil as my medium, but even still, I'll be taking them down for waterings, and have good catchment trays for whenever I put them back up there. Plus, the meanwell drivers are IP65 rated at least..
Looking awesome so far. Have you checked under the leaves with a good loupe or microscope. I had a plant twist and curl at the top that once and it was broadmites. Also had a slight bronzing of the leaves. I do not wish that plague on you but check if you haven't done so.
