This week I need to focus on keeping the heat down. I got a Spider Farmer 2000 last week and woah it brought the temperature up by a lot, so much so that I have to keep the tent open. Overall I’m really happy with this experience and I feel like I’m learning something new every day. TIMELINE: 05/14: The heat got up to 32c the other day and my plant seem to have suffered some heat stress. I’m sure she’ll recover as she seems to be pretty resilient, this one. I also watered her with some nute-free water today - and I put in some other plants to keep her company under the light. They won’t stay in there forever, but for now I think it looks pretty cute with a bunch of plants in there. 05/15: More growth! Two of her leaves got really fucked up due to the heat stress. I re-adjusted the lights so they’re now a bit further away from her. 05/16: I feel like she’s looking a bit off - light green leaves with darker edges? I might just be a paranoid parent. There’s so many ways to fuck up. 05/17: I set up my exhaust fan yesterday, but today I’m noticing a strange sound coming from it - I hope it’s not a defect fan, but just a loose screw. My plant is still looking somewhat pathetic after those hot days in the tent, but she’s growing and I’m making sure that she’s not getting too hot today. She was also fed with nutes. 05/18: Ordered a humidifier - it’s a bit late seeing as she’ll probably go into flower soon and will need lower humidity, but at least I’ll be ready for the next grow. My plant has some white tips and I’m not sure if it’s from the heat earlier this week or if it’s nute burn. I guess time will tell - right now I’m not too worried. 05/19: Got the humidifier set up! So now I’m pretty happy about my grow tent. My lady is looking good to me - very bushy. 05/20: Pictures are getting less and less flattering the bigger she grows - she’s become a freaking bush 🙈🤣 I love her tho. It’s also my birthday! So yay!

I’m growing under a 200W LED light... how close to the light should the seedling be? Right now it’s just about 90cm / 35 inch away from the plant.

If you don't have a lux meter, you can try downloading an app that performs this function to your smartphone. it is not 100% reliable but you can still get an idea if you have a good smartphone. in the first days your seedling needs at least 4000/5000 lux to grow so I advise you to approach the lamp and try with your smartphone to help you adjust the distance.

Worried mom on the loose. Today I found that my little plant has a wrinkle on one of her leaves. What could it be from? I’m wondering if she’s either dehydrated (4 days since last feed) or maybe the light intensity, because I turned it up a bit. Any advice?

give it a bit of water and see how she is in the next 24-48h; twisted leaves is a sign of stress. but they usually recover well once they get bigger.

While it's a controversial topic, as you said, it's hit or miss.. I think the growing environment plays a big role to this question. When i grow in my boxes, which are not very tall, then i top just to keep the size of the plant in check. That's of course next to lst as well. With larger growing strains, it might even be necessary (well, i shouldn't grow them in there, but that's another question ;)) If you have the vertical space then I think i would try to make a direct comparison, by growing 2 plants, one topped and one not, and then comparing the yield of each. This way you could see and compare the differences in your specific environment (your light, your medium, your temperature/humidity, your nutrients and feeding schedule, and so on). I'm sure some will say "no, it won't recover", while others will say "there will be more colas".. Either way, i wish you happy growing whether you top it or not! ;)

Just want to know if she’s looking okay. I see some brown-ish spots close to her new leaves and I’m hoping it just has something to do with the colour of her stems or some other insignificant reason. I also know that some of the leaves are heat stressed - had some rough days.

Try placing a oscillating fan around her to keep a gentle breeze of cooler air.. Open a vent on tent n place fan nxt to this to help draw fesh air thru.. Dont blast plants with fan tho.. Stay safe n gud luck with her.. 👍🍀

Hi and congratulations! Basic advice would be to keep the humidity on the lower side when the strecth is over (45-55 RH%) and also when the stretch is over you can switch to flowering nutes 'cos she wont be needing that much nitrogen anymore and more P and K 👌

Is it possible that this girl can drink 1 liter of water every day? I fed her yesterday, but today her pot felt super light, so I fed her again - no drooping is happening and she seems super okay with it. She’s grown in an 11 liter pot and is about 36 cms tall - if that helps.

1 liter seems all right if your grow room is at a nice temperature and with good ventilation, your plant is looking awesome and a little monster for that pot size, and it's going to take up a lot of water with good conditions (heat/humidity/ventilation) and more overall efficiency when absorbing your lights.

Is it too early to even guess what yield she’ll have? She’s an autoflower gorilla glue at the start of her seventh week. If it can be guessed, then what is your guess? 😬 she’s in an 11l pot (3 gallons i think?)

Hello I think it's a little early to tell for certain... a lot can depend on feeding/light/training. The best suggestion i could give would be to defoliate the bottoms since youre only week 3 of flowering, that'll boost those top buds big time. But you can aim in about 40-60 grams per square foot. Almost 2 feet right now so probably around 100 grams... Just keep it as healthy as it looks now and I'm sure you'll be very happy. Plus those gorilla strains are always pretty strong. Happy flowering.

Dark red or purple stems is bad during veg. Not sure how effects flower. I can see your stems are tri-toned. Add bit of cal-mag to your watering. Or put your pH around 6.7 until problem goes away.

Just keep giving bit of water every few hours. With pots dry she started sealing the uptake vein in the top of the stock to stay alive. Once realize there's water should open the main vein to the top again.

Yes, as the white pistils mature, they die off and go orange its perfectly normal and then new white hairs will keep coming out until they find some pollen to make seeds. We know its at its peak of Maturity when the plant is like 80% red hairs👍🌱

Hello So she probably already is a bit sticky. If squeeze the buds they night feel a bit greasy and smelly. While your trichromes are growing they start out all thin and noodley...once the tops look bulbous, they're filling with resin more every day, thats how they get that lollipop look. As for really greasing out, you'll probably notice it mainly in those last weeks..since you're 7 weeks in, probably 2 weeks from now you'll really see the grease and the goo. Some people think dropping your RH down in the last couple weeks helps trichromes a lot! * i am not 100% on this thought yet...but definitely worth trying. Happy flowering. ✌️

Hey buddy, I’ve seen you been through a rough journey and during those period the plant didn’t get chance to grow properly. That could be the reason for slow ripe of bud even though they’re in long period of flowering circle. Now They are looking great and back in form.As long as they are not into any problem, the bud will ripe eventually. If you don’t want to be patient, change your light schedule to 12/12.Sure they will ripe faster. But It can cost your final yield.Good luck and happy growing.. ✌️

I’m not good at getting good trichome-shots of her - I really need a non-phone-relying microscope. This is amber trichomes right? I honestly don’t know if it’s from the bud or the sugar leaves... How long do you guys think she has left?

Looks like you are taking trichome pics from the leaf. The leaf will always show more advanced/deceptive trichomes. Put your microscope/phone on the buds just under the main cola and a few more places to get a good overal idea of the plant. By looking at your grow it looks like your plant has several weeks left as it’s still putting out mostly white pistols and not a lot of color change. When the hairs start to recied back into the buds that’s when I start looking at thrichomes.

Genetics, nutrients and lights might give the purple hue to stems and leaves, also cold temperatures. On peppers/hot peppers, purple pigment is generated because light is too powerful sometimes (is a good sign) and in cannabis too, it's probably more efficient than green at that stage of growing.

What deficiencies are these? I’ve flushed her, ph’ed her water and I’m giving her a good amount of nutrients - no nitrogen for the past two weeks I think. Is this just an age thing? I don’t need her to look perfect before harvest, but I’m afraid it’s affecting the bud maturity.

well the no nitrogen can be a culprit.. But we don't really care too much about the occasional leaf going to down side.. It's a good sign really as if your nitrogen intake is too high this won't happen and your bud can be "bad".

Experimentgreen
Experimentgreen
@HappySkunk, that's great, and a perfect way to look at it... i learn from failure and success. 😁 I don't think you can go wrong removing from the bottoms....but the top if you removed a bit much....just don't remove any more.👍

@Experimentgreen, I actually tried my hand at it today and removed some of them. It might have been too much - but practice makes perfect and I like learning from my mistakes 😄 so I guess I’ll see if it works out! Thanks.
Experimentgreen
Experimentgreen
@HappySkunk, i understand..defoliation can be a little intimidating. But if you stick to only a leaf or 2 and then more if needed you won't typically remove more than you should. Otherwise tucking the leaves is another way of moving then away from new growth sites.

I'm glad you crossed the finish line! Turned out pretty good :) Might I add, since it does look like the buds got a bit roasted from the light, next time between week three and four try doing some lst. And continue through the grow. It looks like vertical height may have been the issue for that problem. When it comes to vertical height being a problem LST will help lower the height of those main sites that grow the most, as well as uniform growth throughout the majority of the rest of the grow. Just my opinion and i hope it helps in your next grow friend. In the end, i think you still did a killer job!
TCMYahma
TCMYahma
@HappySkunk, Always happy to help. I'm fairly new myself honestly. I just have the same issue with height. I have a max height of 5Ft. So thinking a bit ahead im going to have to incorporate LST as well, train the main cola and larger bud sites down just to avoid cooking the buds myself. I will eventually invest into a larger tent, however for right now it's not an option. This is my solution to the very same problem. It won't only help increase all around yield, but it will also train it to the lower height i know i'm going to need. Aside from that problem that was out of your control this time, you did a REALLY good job. So i'm not by any means trying to assert any criticism or negativity. Only imparting what knowledge I have from research in that area. Just remember to continue the LST throughout the grow so it stays at the height you train it to. If a site is stretching up further than what you've allowed, tie it down. There is also another method that might interest you and be easier for a larger plant called SCROG. Look into both LST and SCROG and see what fits your needs best. Both will allow you to control the height of your grows to your wishes. Happy growing! again, great job!
