Growing 4 strains for my first ever grow. This specific Diary will be for Linda-Seeds Gelato #33 Auto Day -4: Soaked the seeds for 24h Day -3: Seeds soaked for 24h and all sank to the bottom saturating the seeds. Mixed Canna Coco Plus+ substrate with 5% Perlite. Then proceeded to wash even though the Canna Coco Plus+ comes prewashed I wanted to make sure and also get it nice and moist. Once the water was soaked through I took my fist (with gloves on) and compacted the soil to squeeze extra water out. With a sanitary glove on (no powder) after draining then i proceeded to loosen back up the substrate so it was nice and fluffy. Also to remix and distribute the Perlite evenly as seen in the next photo Placed pots in grow tent and soaked up any excess water draining from the side. Placed non popped but pre-soaked seeds into the pots about 1 inch down and gently covered with coco. Placed humidifier in tent and set to 60%. The reason why I did this instead of the paper towel method is because I did not want to risk transporting them once the taproots were already out and placing them in damp loose soil and slightly covered achieves the exact same effect without any downside risk of transporting them. The drawback is I wont know if any seeds are duds for about a week but that is not a very large risk. Plant health is paramount. Day -2: Nothing to report. Humidity level and temperatures holding steady. Lightly sprayed the top of each pot's substrate. Substrate is still moist, don't want to over water and kill the seedlings Day -1: Nothing to report. Sprayed the top and a few drops of tap water (ph 8) Day 1: Auto Gelato #33 just taking a peak above the soil (I reordered the days so that day 1 coincides with 'seeing green' and the seedling poking out of the soil to match other diaries.) Day 2: Fed her 1ml of water from a plastic syringe of just my standard ph8 water. Day 3: G33's looking great, nice and healthy. Fed her 1ml of water from a plastic syringe of just my standard ph8 water. Day 4: Soil was drying out a little on the periphery. Today is my first day of feeding, also my first attempt doing so ever. I'm attempting to mix a very light solution while bringing down the PH to within range. I mixed in Canna A+B + Rhizo and a tiny bit of Magnesium and Calcium with a EC of 0.7 and a PH of 6.2. I'll be monitoring the seedlings closely. I worry that my EC is slightly high by 0.1 or 0.2 EC. After about 10 hours since there was no runoff from the substrate I elected to water again. This time i only did Rhizotonic 2mL/L (4L total, 1 Liter per plant) with a much lighter EC of 0.4 (my water is 0.3) and gentle PH 5.8 Day 5: All the girls are looking great. They seem to really be enjoying life and their Rhizotonic (2mL/L 5.8ph 0.4EC) which they got again today Day 6: Nothing to report today. Looking healthy. The soil is nice and saturated so no watering today. I'll update tomorrow with a new picture to end the week. Day 7: She's been getting bigger. Her medium is still nice and saturated so i elected not to feed any Rhizo today. Tomorrow being the 1st day of the 2nd week I'll be feeding a bit more than just Rhizotonic. I also lowered the light down 10cm to 80cm total height. (from 90)

Worried if the tips of the new growth are exhibiting any signs of a micro-nutrient deficiency, CaMg? I've been feeding her CaMg but not every feed, about once every 3 days.

You may have a light stress issue, I see the serrations on the leaves are starting to curl up a little bit. I've had this problem as well. Try either moving your light up or turning down the intensity, and see if you notice a difference in 3 days.

I second @smoke24 about light stress. Had the same with my HLG fixtures, these new led diodes are mega powerful with minimal heat, the good old rules to determine light heights you find on sites apply to HPS/MH mostly, but not high end LEDs. Try to stick with the manual that comes with the light, however I had to move my HLG a few inches further than listed on their site cuz it slowly burned my babies with too intense light (not heat).

@Lord_Gabe_Newell, Ya I think you're both right. I've already moved the light up. We'll see if thats enough. I have a lot more room to move it up as these girls are shorties

@teddaykgb, Thank you sir! I'm trying as best i can, hopefully a good result will come but who knows? Atleast with my 2nd grow i'll have crazy notes of where i went wrong or right that i can maybe change ๐Ÿ˜‚

@smoke24 Thanks for your help. I think that is exactly what it is, light stress. I havent measured my plants in awhile and some of them grew closer than 60cm (50cm about). I've since raised the light. Thanks again for your astute observation and help!

Yes Yesss Brother ๐Ÿ˜Š Good to see a fresh update on the babies and they're all looking super fine my friend!! I know you was having a few issues but it looks like everything is in order and tidy man!๐Ÿ‘ Have you been watering with runoff or do you just stick to a certain amount of water only? I noticed you're only feeding 1ltr in a bigger pot but I've been feeding my plant 3ltr per day in an 11ltr pot to get my PPM correct on runoff and my PH runoff has been perfect too! I don't know if it's the best way but it's been working so well I don't wonna change Shit!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜• On my first grow I didn't do this and on flushing my PPM was CRAZY high which made me do things different this time round!! It made me concerned that they were sitting in a high concentration without me knowing because I hadn't runoff properly!! Respects ๐Ÿ˜‰

@@Lit_1, You're a lucky man bud with humidity perfect then!!! ๐Ÿ‘. So good that it remains low where you are as we know what high humidity can do for the babies!! Speak soon brother ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Bushbaby808, I just took out the humidifier (Rowenta Aqua Perfect) a few days ago as it wasnt kicking on anymore since i set it for 45% and thats where it seems to be without it. Outside humidity in the room is about 38% on average, inside the tent it seems to range from 38-48% which i think is ok, although maybe on the low side for the plants health. I'm paranoid against budrot though so i think i'm ok with it being that low. I live near the mountains so the humidity isnt very high here and its been raining quite a bit lately so that always spikes it up. During the day and night i try to keep the window cracked open for fresh air/cO2 and equalize the temperature in the tent. I'm hoping these conditions will be good but as you said we'll see what happens and we're learning as we go ๐Ÿ˜Ž

@@Lit_1, Yes bruv, more than likely a bitta both to be honest!!! I'm definitely moving up a pot size next time as I've got roots peepin out all over pot so I'm sure she would've flourished with more room!!! Hahaaaa, the venture continues.......Let's see what happens man, we're learning as we go!!! How are you doing with regards to humidity? There's no way I'm gonna be able to clock a 30-40% for late harvest!!! What dehumidifier do you run and do you deal with humidity inside or outside the tent?

Your running your ph a little high for soiless in the veg stage. 5.8 is ideal for what the plants want at this stage. You only need to add a little calmag if your using coco coir. Ppm should be 4 to 500 until they start to vigorously grow

Lit_1commented5 years ago
@GMSgrows, Thank you. I've been using Nitric acid as my PH down during Veg as it breaks down to nitrogen just for this reason (during flower i switch to phosphoric acid). It also has to be a micro nutrient 'immobile' issue as its in the new growth and not the old growth. Nitrogen is a mobile nutrient and i believe the leaf color is healthy besides the new growth tips, which indicates micro nutrients. I'm not sure if its just because they are so new and i'm trying to see a problem where there isnt one. I believe its good to let the PH fluctuate a little bit in the healthy range so that the plant can take up certain nutrients it needs at more optimum PH levels. I'm not really a believer in runoff levels as you can get a pretty large discrepancy depending on your runoff on which nutrients happen to wash out during that time and which do not. Thanks for the help though all the same, i do appreciate it!

GMSgrowscommented5 years ago
@@Lit_1,your correct there. But 5.8 is where your babies take up more nitrogen, that keeps your leaves green. Can't say for sure its calmag issue, if it is there is a reason why. Check your runoff make sure the ec is not way higher than what's going in. Luck my friend

Lit_1commented5 years ago
@GMSgrows, 6.2 is the proper PH for maximum CaMg uptake. The range of 5.6 to 6.6 is generally whats recommended. Still this doesn't answer my question "if the tips of the new growth are exhibiting any signs of a micro-nutrient deficiency, CaMg?"
