Week 4 - Gelato #33 All measurements per 1 liter of water Day 22: Wow start of the 4th week. I feel like week 3 just started! So I'm going to be leaving tomorrow morning but will have time to feed the girls but not update the diary. They'll miss a feeding on wednesday the 27th but I'll be back thursday so they'll only really miss one feeding. I think they'll be just fine considering they're in large 20L (5gallon) pots. -- I'm also going to start adding CaMg to every feeding. Since they are separate and not a all in one CalMag concoction its important to note the dosage as the calcium is 15% pure and the Magnesium is only 7% pure so a 1 to 1 ratio will give 2 to 1. Now i like to keep that a bit more than that, at least 4 to 1 ratio so as to make sure all the calcium bonds to the magnesium and the girls dont get magnesium poisoning. So you'll note that the mix of 0.25mL calcium @ 15% to a 0.1mL Magnesium @ 7% brings me to just about a 5 to 1 ratio. My tap water starts at EC 0.2 and contains no chlorine or chloride to begin with. I always mix this first and let this sit a few hours and a few stirs to give time for the Ca to bind to the Mg. This brings my water normally to 0.4 to 0.5 EC. From there i mix my nutrients. The order i do them is and has always been this even though i've listed them in different orders before. Rhizotonic 0.2mL / Canna A 0.2mL / Canna B 0.2mL / Cannazyme 0.2mL and then check PH which is normally bout 7.0 at this point and begin adding my PH down which during the vegetation phase is Nitric acid (as it breaks down to nitrogen which they need more of in veg phase). When i get to flower phase i'll be switching to Phosphoric acid (which breaks down to ...you guessed it phosphorus). So after everything is all mixed i'm left with an EC of 1.6 and a PH of 5.9 (sometimes the EC fluctuates between 1.5 and 1.6 with the CaMg solution and the PH i try to let vary each feeding between 5.8 and 6.2). Another thing i've been doing has been tucking the larger fan leafs underneath the new growth that will eventually be growing their own cola's. This is a form of LST i suppose but even lower stress than that. You can see in the latest picture the plant looks a bit 'mangled' this is just from the tucking process. I've also taken a few tiny leafs and tiny branches on the very bottom of the plant that weren't getting any light and liked to lay in the dirt/aluminum foil. This has helped the airflow beneath the skirt of the plant. Day 23: Quick update before i leave on my minitrip. I'll just be gone effectively tomorrow and back on thursday. Fed the girls CaMg to EC 0.5 then normal feed of Rhizo 2mL / Canna A 2mL / Canna B 2mL / Cannazyme 2mL to PH 5.9 EC 1.7. Hope the girls dont throw any wild parties while i'm away πŸ˜‚ Day 24: Was away on a trip. No feed. Day 25: They must of thrown a party while i was gone....they pretty much doubled in growth. From 15cm for the White widow, Critical Jack Herer, Gelato #33 to 30cm and from 20cm to 40cm for the Purple Punch! Being back I noticed that their roots were starting to come up below the aluminum foil so i've removed that permanently as its done its job of keeping any green algae at bay. They were probably thirsty with all the new growth so looking everywhere. I fed them the standard amount of CaMg and 2mL Rhizo / 2mL A / 2mL B / 2mL Cannazyme and PH to 5.8 and EC to 1.6. I also defoliated just a little bit under their skirt to take away any tiny growth near the soil and any small growth that wasnt going to get much light. Not too much as i really dont want to stress them. For the White Widow it was a leaf or two, as i'm really trying to take it easy on her. For tomorrow I plan on upping my A and B nutrients and backing off the rhizo a bit as they look hungry and ready! Day 26: I raised up the light even more. 80cm from the top of the tallest girl (Purple Punch) as I'm seeing more of the new growth tips getting a little light stress. I assume its because they grew so fast while I was gone and grew closer than the 60cm buffer zone that I was trying to maintain. I'll see how they respond to that. I've also upped their dose of nutrients and fed them twice today to get some good runoff. The solution is as follows: Starting water 0.2 EC to 0.5 EC with CaMg in a 5 to 1 ratio / 1.5mL Rhizo / 2.5mL A / 2.5mL B / 2.0mL Cannazyme to a PH of 6.0 and EC 1.9. Instead of their normal 1L per plant today they'll be getting 2L each. Tomorrow They'll go back to 1L each and one feeding as long as their runoff looks adequate (10-20%). I've also taken out the humidifier as it was hardly ever triggered anymore to turn on. Since all the new vegetative growth the RH seems to be in the 42-50% range by itself. I'll monitor the RH value closely going forward but seeing as they'll be in flower very soon it was my intention to keep this above 30% but below 50% to keep any bud rot away. Since i've taken it out it allows the ladies more room in the middle where the light is most intense so it should even out a little bit with the light being raised so high. Second feeding was the same measurements but a PH of 6.1 and EC 1.8. Will update with pictures tomorrow Day 27: Just started noticing they're beginning to flower! I'm really excited. To start week 5 I'll be adding Canna Boost to the mix. Today they've been fed twice (2L each plant) to make sure they are nice and happy. It's with the increased dose of A and B. The measurements were as followed: water CaMg from 0.2EC to 0.6EC / Rhizo 1.5mL / A 2.5mL / B 2.5mL / Cannazyme 2.0 mL to a final EC 1.9 / PH 6.0 and the second feed with the same measurements but final EC 1.8 / PH 6.1 Day 28: Last day of week 4. Today's feed is a bit different as I've added boost, lowered Rhizotonic and switched from Nitric Acid for my PH down to Phosphoric Acid as in flower they'll need less Nitrogen and more Phosphorus which is what each break down to respectively. It was interesting to note that it took way less phosphoric acid than it did nitric acid to bring the PH down from the regular 7 to the 6 range, this is due to the nitric acid being about 38% pure and the phosphoric acid being 80% or more on average. I fed them twice and an increase amount of boost (2.5mL per liter which i'll be dropping down to 2mL per liter tomorrow, i just wanted to get it soaked in the coco coir and hence i did two separate feedings so each plant got 2L of solution today. The values were as follows: Water starting at 0.2 EC raised to 0.5 with 1mL Ca and 0.4mL Mg / 1mL Rhizotonic / 2.5mL A / 2.5mL B / 2mL Cannazyme / 2.5mL Boost, those same proportions in both feeds. The first feed came out to EC 1.8 and PH 6.2 and the second feed EC 1.8 / PH 6.1. I dont plan on any more defoliation as after reading countless diaries on here i've come to the conclusion that it most likely hurts yields and probably should just be avoided altogether with auto's. I have been trying to tuck the larger fan leafs underneath the future cola sites however to try to get them as much light as possible. The humidity since i removed the humidifier is between 35-45%. I would prefer it to stay in the 40's but i think that 35% is sufficient and i wont be very fearful of budrot as they start blooming. Will update Week 5 with pictures to start the week tomorrow.

Worried if the tips of the new growth are exhibiting any signs of a micro-nutrient deficiency, CaMg? I've been feeding her CaMg but not every feed, about once every 3 days.

You may have a light stress issue, I see the serrations on the leaves are starting to curl up a little bit. I've had this problem as well. Try either moving your light up or turning down the intensity, and see if you notice a difference in 3 days.

I second @smoke24 about light stress. Had the same with my HLG fixtures, these new led diodes are mega powerful with minimal heat, the good old rules to determine light heights you find on sites apply to HPS/MH mostly, but not high end LEDs. Try to stick with the manual that comes with the light, however I had to move my HLG a few inches further than listed on their site cuz it slowly burned my babies with too intense light (not heat).

@Lord_Gabe_Newell, Ya I think you're both right. I've already moved the light up. We'll see if thats enough. I have a lot more room to move it up as these girls are shorties

@smoke24 Thanks for your help. I think that is exactly what it is, light stress. I havent measured my plants in awhile and some of them grew closer than 60cm (50cm about). I've since raised the light. Thanks again for your astute observation and help!

Yes Yesss Brother 😊 Good to see a fresh update on the babies and they're all looking super fine my friend!! I know you was having a few issues but it looks like everything is in order and tidy man!πŸ‘ Have you been watering with runoff or do you just stick to a certain amount of water only? I noticed you're only feeding 1ltr in a bigger pot but I've been feeding my plant 3ltr per day in an 11ltr pot to get my PPM correct on runoff and my PH runoff has been perfect too! I don't know if it's the best way but it's been working so well I don't wonna change Shit!!!!! πŸ˜• On my first grow I didn't do this and on flushing my PPM was CRAZY high which made me do things different this time round!! It made me concerned that they were sitting in a high concentration without me knowing because I hadn't runoff properly!! Respects πŸ˜‰

@@Lit_1, You're a lucky man bud with humidity perfect then!!! πŸ‘. So good that it remains low where you are as we know what high humidity can do for the babies!! Speak soon brother πŸ˜‰

@Bushbaby808, I just took out the humidifier (Rowenta Aqua Perfect) a few days ago as it wasnt kicking on anymore since i set it for 45% and thats where it seems to be without it. Outside humidity in the room is about 38% on average, inside the tent it seems to range from 38-48% which i think is ok, although maybe on the low side for the plants health. I'm paranoid against budrot though so i think i'm ok with it being that low. I live near the mountains so the humidity isnt very high here and its been raining quite a bit lately so that always spikes it up. During the day and night i try to keep the window cracked open for fresh air/cO2 and equalize the temperature in the tent. I'm hoping these conditions will be good but as you said we'll see what happens and we're learning as we go 😎

@@Lit_1, Yes bruv, more than likely a bitta both to be honest!!! I'm definitely moving up a pot size next time as I've got roots peepin out all over pot so I'm sure she would've flourished with more room!!! Hahaaaa, the venture continues.......Let's see what happens man, we're learning as we go!!! How are you doing with regards to humidity? There's no way I'm gonna be able to clock a 30-40% for late harvest!!! What dehumidifier do you run and do you deal with humidity inside or outside the tent?

Your running your ph a little high for soiless in the veg stage. 5.8 is ideal for what the plants want at this stage. You only need to add a little calmag if your using coco coir. Ppm should be 4 to 500 until they start to vigorously grow
Lit_1
Lit_1
@GMSgrows, Thank you. I've been using Nitric acid as my PH down during Veg as it breaks down to nitrogen just for this reason (during flower i switch to phosphoric acid). It also has to be a micro nutrient 'immobile' issue as its in the new growth and not the old growth. Nitrogen is a mobile nutrient and i believe the leaf color is healthy besides the new growth tips, which indicates micro nutrients. I'm not sure if its just because they are so new and i'm trying to see a problem where there isnt one. I believe its good to let the PH fluctuate a little bit in the healthy range so that the plant can take up certain nutrients it needs at more optimum PH levels. I'm not really a believer in runoff levels as you can get a pretty large discrepancy depending on your runoff on which nutrients happen to wash out during that time and which do not. Thanks for the help though all the same, i do appreciate it!
GMSgrows
GMSgrows
@@Lit_1,your correct there. But 5.8 is where your babies take up more nitrogen, that keeps your leaves green. Can't say for sure its calmag issue, if it is there is a reason why. Check your runoff make sure the ec is not way higher than what's going in. Luck my friend
Lit_1
Lit_1
@GMSgrows, 6.2 is the proper PH for maximum CaMg uptake. The range of 5.6 to 6.6 is generally whats recommended. Still this doesn't answer my question "if the tips of the new growth are exhibiting any signs of a micro-nutrient deficiency, CaMg?"
