Week 8 - Gelato #33 Auto All measurements are per 1L of water Start of week 8! Day 50 (Flower Day 22) - Fed the ladies 2L each today. I raised up the LED another 5cm or so (seriously cant raise it up anymore). For my next grow i might be getting a taller tent, my only complaint about my current one. The purple punch is just too big! She's 140cm tall and on barney's website they list Purple Punch auto as an indica dominate at 70-80cm.....well this thing sure doesnt have leaves like an indica, its much more sativa like. I'm pretty disappointing in Barney's lately to be honest. I dont think i'll be growing her genetics again. A friend just harvested about 5 different barney's seeds, all photoperiods and really took care of them well and not one yielded above 2 ounces, far from it in fact. The genetics from the diaries just seem to be all over the place. On the other hand I cant say how impressed I am by Delicious's Critical Jack Herer, very suprising that this is the only diary to run this strain as its a real winner. I'll absolutely be growing more CJH in the future. The White Widow from Seedstockers has been a real trooper from the accidental topping and she seems to be shaping up well. Her and the Gelato#33 really get the least amount of attention being at the back of the tent but they are both doing great. In the future I'll be growing 3 plants maximum so as to be able to access the ladies better for more TLC and more room for them to branch out. The feed today was as follows: Water 0.2 EC added CaMg to 0.5 EC / 0.5mL Rhizo / 2.25mL A / 2.25mL B / 1mL Cannazyme / 2.25mL Boost for a final reading of PH 6.1 and EC 1.6. I think i'm slowly going to start introducing PK13/14 but not at the regular dosage (a huge spike). I'll keep you all posted. Really excited to have the finish line insight, i can already tell that the CJH will be finishing first, which is a good thing as she's one of the ones in front. I also added a small video, forgive the crappy phone quality, i tried to get all the ladies in it. Day 51 (Flower Day 23) - Ladies fed 2.5L each today, they seem thirsty developing their flowers. Humidity down to 50c but now that it stopped raining its a bit warmer but not by much. Feed was as follows standard water of 0.2 EC added CaMg to 0.5 EC / 0.5mL Rhizo / 2.5mL A / 2.5mL B / 1mL Cannazyme / 2.5mL Boost for a final reading of PH 5.9 and EC 1.8 - I'll add more photo's tomorrow Day 52 (Flower Day 24) - Ladies got another 2.5L each today. I added a small amount of PK13/14. I wont be adding this every day this week but every few days. Next week it'll be increasing until week 10. The feed was as follows: water of 0.2 EC added CaMg to 0.5 EC / 0.5mL Rhizo / 2.25mL A / 2.25mL B / 0.5 PK / 1mL Cannazyme / 2.5mL Boost for a final reading of PH 6.2 and EC 1.7 --- The Gelato #33 is smelling amazing, the best smell in the tent, Critical Jack Herer is starting to frost up on her sugar leaves and just keeps filling in. White widow is jugging along. I try my best to take away any fan leaves that get in the way of bud sights but its hard with the two shortest ladies being in the back of the tent. The Purple Punch just wont quit, luckily I think her main Cola has stopped stretching but i've noticed other Cola's of her's stretching, she's the least developed flower wise. Humidity is well under control now, unde 45-52% range, however since its summer its 26/27c outside but i've got the tent pretty wel ventilated with fresh air so its pretty much the same temperature at 27c. Day 53 (Flower Day 25) - The week is moving right along. Ladies all seem having and doing well. Seems like growth has slowed down and now its all about those flower production! Today's feed was 2.5L each of the following: water of 0.2 EC added CaMg to 0.5 EC / 0.5mL Rhizo / 2.25mL A / 2.25mL B / 1mL Cannazyme / 2.25mL Boost for a final reading of PH 5.9 and EC 1.7 - Pictures to come tomorrow and some long overdue measurements. My LUX meter finally came in i'm happy to say. Readings from the tallest cola's seemed to be in the 28000-30000 range which for a white/blue/red LED @ 3500k should put it 'roughly' around 720-770 PAR which sounds good during flower. This is a bit lower than what the PPFD map that Lumatek lists but not by much and i'm willing to be its probably closer to the truth. We'll see though, regardless now that i have a good idea of things i can learn from these readings over successful grows and get use to it and the light. Day 54 (Flower Day 26) - Did a lot of wrangling (LST) of the purple punch, not letting her go over 140cm as there isnt anymore room to move up the light. Luckily the light intensity seems good for her at the moment. I made a video of each plant, the Gelato #33 and White Widow videos are a bit shorter as its much harder to take them since the two tall ladies are in front. Feed today was 2.5L each and a little PK was added, feed as follows: Water 0.2 EC to 0.6 EC /w CaMg / 0.5mL Rhizo / 2.0mL A / 2.0mL B / 0.7mL PK1314 / 1mL Cannazyme / 2.0mL Boost for a final reading of EC 1.7 / PH 6.3 - Height Measurements were as follows: PP = 140cm with LST / WW = 110cm / G33 = 90cm / CJH = 120cm Day 55 (Flower Day 27) - Not much to report today. Ladies looking good, everyone filling in. Standard feed today without PK, and i was in a rush so i didnt add CaMg as i normally do with every feed (i normally let the CaMg sit for an hour and stir a few times to let the Ca bond to the Mg since mine comes in separate bottles. Feed was as follows: Water 0.2 EC / 0.5mL Rhizo / 2.0mL A / 2.0mL B / 1mL Cannazyme / 2mL Boost for a total reading of PH 6.3 / EC 1.3 - Will add pics to close out the week tomorrow. Day 56 (Flower Day 28) - Last day of week 8, cant believe we're moving into week 9. Time really does fly by, but atleast this way i'll have a lot of weed πŸ˜‚. The Purple Punch is starting to flower and catch up. The Critical Jack Herer is realy filling in nicely, i think she'll be the biggest yielder. The Gelato #33 is also filling in nicely although its harder to see her, but holy molly does she smell the absolute best! Her smell is electric, very pungent aroma, i think she'll live up to her name. The White Widow is also flowering nicely but she's behind the big girl so its hardest to tell with her. We'll see how things go. The feed today was 2.5L each of the following: water 0.2 EC to 0.6 EC / 0.5 Rhizo / 2.25mL A / 2.25mL B / 1mL Cannazyme / 2.25 Boost for a total reading of EC 1.7 and PH 6.3. Starting next week i'll be adding and upping the PK dose while slowly lowering the A & B, Rhizo, and Cannazyme, and increasing the Boost.

Worried if the tips of the new growth are exhibiting any signs of a micro-nutrient deficiency, CaMg? I've been feeding her CaMg but not every feed, about once every 3 days.

You may have a light stress issue, I see the serrations on the leaves are starting to curl up a little bit. I've had this problem as well. Try either moving your light up or turning down the intensity, and see if you notice a difference in 3 days.

I second @smoke24 about light stress. Had the same with my HLG fixtures, these new led diodes are mega powerful with minimal heat, the good old rules to determine light heights you find on sites apply to HPS/MH mostly, but not high end LEDs. Try to stick with the manual that comes with the light, however I had to move my HLG a few inches further than listed on their site cuz it slowly burned my babies with too intense light (not heat).

@Lord_Gabe_Newell, Ya I think you're both right. I've already moved the light up. We'll see if thats enough. I have a lot more room to move it up as these girls are shorties

@smoke24 Thanks for your help. I think that is exactly what it is, light stress. I havent measured my plants in awhile and some of them grew closer than 60cm (50cm about). I've since raised the light. Thanks again for your astute observation and help!

Yes Yesss Brother 😊 Good to see a fresh update on the babies and they're all looking super fine my friend!! I know you was having a few issues but it looks like everything is in order and tidy man!πŸ‘ Have you been watering with runoff or do you just stick to a certain amount of water only? I noticed you're only feeding 1ltr in a bigger pot but I've been feeding my plant 3ltr per day in an 11ltr pot to get my PPM correct on runoff and my PH runoff has been perfect too! I don't know if it's the best way but it's been working so well I don't wonna change Shit!!!!! πŸ˜• On my first grow I didn't do this and on flushing my PPM was CRAZY high which made me do things different this time round!! It made me concerned that they were sitting in a high concentration without me knowing because I hadn't runoff properly!! Respects πŸ˜‰

@@Lit_1, You're a lucky man bud with humidity perfect then!!! πŸ‘. So good that it remains low where you are as we know what high humidity can do for the babies!! Speak soon brother πŸ˜‰

@Bushbaby808, I just took out the humidifier (Rowenta Aqua Perfect) a few days ago as it wasnt kicking on anymore since i set it for 45% and thats where it seems to be without it. Outside humidity in the room is about 38% on average, inside the tent it seems to range from 38-48% which i think is ok, although maybe on the low side for the plants health. I'm paranoid against budrot though so i think i'm ok with it being that low. I live near the mountains so the humidity isnt very high here and its been raining quite a bit lately so that always spikes it up. During the day and night i try to keep the window cracked open for fresh air/cO2 and equalize the temperature in the tent. I'm hoping these conditions will be good but as you said we'll see what happens and we're learning as we go 😎

@@Lit_1, Yes bruv, more than likely a bitta both to be honest!!! I'm definitely moving up a pot size next time as I've got roots peepin out all over pot so I'm sure she would've flourished with more room!!! Hahaaaa, the venture continues.......Let's see what happens man, we're learning as we go!!! How are you doing with regards to humidity? There's no way I'm gonna be able to clock a 30-40% for late harvest!!! What dehumidifier do you run and do you deal with humidity inside or outside the tent?

Your running your ph a little high for soiless in the veg stage. 5.8 is ideal for what the plants want at this stage. You only need to add a little calmag if your using coco coir. Ppm should be 4 to 500 until they start to vigorously grow
Lit_1
Lit_1commented5 years ago
@GMSgrows, Thank you. I've been using Nitric acid as my PH down during Veg as it breaks down to nitrogen just for this reason (during flower i switch to phosphoric acid). It also has to be a micro nutrient 'immobile' issue as its in the new growth and not the old growth. Nitrogen is a mobile nutrient and i believe the leaf color is healthy besides the new growth tips, which indicates micro nutrients. I'm not sure if its just because they are so new and i'm trying to see a problem where there isnt one. I believe its good to let the PH fluctuate a little bit in the healthy range so that the plant can take up certain nutrients it needs at more optimum PH levels. I'm not really a believer in runoff levels as you can get a pretty large discrepancy depending on your runoff on which nutrients happen to wash out during that time and which do not. Thanks for the help though all the same, i do appreciate it!

GMSgrowscommented5 years ago
@@Lit_1,your correct there. But 5.8 is where your babies take up more nitrogen, that keeps your leaves green. Can't say for sure its calmag issue, if it is there is a reason why. Check your runoff make sure the ec is not way higher than what's going in. Luck my friend
Lit_1
Lit_1commented5 years ago
@GMSgrows, 6.2 is the proper PH for maximum CaMg uptake. The range of 5.6 to 6.6 is generally whats recommended. Still this doesn't answer my question "if the tips of the new growth are exhibiting any signs of a micro-nutrient deficiency, CaMg?"
