Started grow on 8/25. Everything looking good overall 7 days in! My Tangerine Dream died, but that’s why I bought 3 seeds! Got another one germinating already, hopefully the seed shell pops off correctly this time. Temp is now at a steady 78F and floating between 50-55% RH. Have not watered or fed plants any significant amount, only using a spray bottle to wet the soil and mist the leaves. Water pH still 6.3, soil pH 6.7.
Restarted Tangerine Dream on 8/31. Relieved, and excited since that was my favorite strain of the 3! Seedlings are a nice healthy green. Got another MarsHydro TS1000 this week to supplement my TS600. Soil pH is 6.9, soil EC 1.204.
Had some trouble fine tuning the temp and humidity with the new light in there, but I think I’ve got it situated now. Started giving them real waterings this week @2cups per plant and growth has taken off. Soil pH 6.7, soil EC 1.206.
Started leaf tucking at the end of this week! NCH x SB and Sour Kush are nearing 6-7in tall, so I may begin more serious LST next week. Soil pH 7, Soil EC 0.809
Starting to experience some calcium deficiencies in my two growers choice plants, topdressed both with powdered dolomite lime @2tbsp/gal. Sour Kush is worse off, so hopefully she recovers soon and the lime prevents the Tangerine Dream from experiencing this. Decided to lightly defoliate the Meph plant because she is very healthy, and there are some leaves that are becoming difficult to tuck under newer bud sites. I don’t expect her to react at all. Feeding every other water with Fox Farm Trio, just adding yucca, liquid bonemeal (low dose), and molasses to regular waterings. Progression of deficiency seems to have stopped. Tangerine Dream is growing much slower than the other two but has a lanky sativa-like structure so I expect her to take longer to finish. Regular watering pH 6.3, EC 0.4. Feed pH 6.18, EC 0.851. Soil pH 7, soil EC 0.73.
Defoliated the NCH x SB on day 36, removed almost all big fan leaves to clean up the canopy. Did some light defoliation on the Sour Kush to remove some older deficiency-effects leaves on the bottom. Almost 15-20 tops on both the NCH x SB and Sour Kush, so I’m hoping they’re some big producers. Tangerine Dream is finally making more progress but remains the smaller plant in the room. Both large plants are stating to fade/show N def so I upped the feed nutes to full strength (1/2 regular strength). Water pH 6.3, EC 0.4. Feed pH 5.8, EC 1.619. Soil pH 7, Soil EC 0.73.
Went on vacation for a few days and ended up missing my usual update. Plants have grown significantly since then, but none as much as the Tangerine Dream who grew a good 3-4in in her secondary colas. They are all now fully LST’ed and I won’t mess with them again probably until harvest. All plants took a full (half) strength feed really well. Water pH 6.4, EC 0.5. Feed pH 6.37 EC 1.774. Soil pH 6.8, EC 1.09.
Both NCH x SB and Sour Kush are experiencing some N deficiencies, topdressed with worm castings @2tbsp/ gal and gave her a flush plus an inoculation. Inoculation seems to have caused some tip burn, possibly from too much humic acid. Gave them a flush followed by a feed with a bit of extra Grow Big and Herc and they have recovered nicely. Flowers are starting to bulk up and all 3 are now fully flowering. Feed pH 6.4, EC 1.6. Water pH 6.1, EC 0.7. Soil pH and EC TBD.
Started this week off strong. Decided to switch out the extra Grow Big for extra Tiger Bloom since it’s a lower concentration on N and higher P. New growth is a good color and no tip burning. Raised the lights and turned them up to 100% for the rest of flower. Sour Kush is starting to stink up the tent! NCH is looking like she wants to finish soon, but buds haven’t fattened up and trichomes are still a mixture of clear/milky. Feed pH 6.2, EC 1.8. Water pH 6.3, EC 0.8.
NCH x SB is starting to fade significantly and has stopped throwing out new pistils, trichomes are significantly cloudy and a few on the sugar leaves are beginning to turn amber. Debating whether I should pull her at full cloudy in a week or two or wait until I see more amber. Sour Kush is still fattening up and has a lot of white pistils yet to mature, trichomes are of course a mixture of clear/milky, no fade on this plant yet. Tangerine Dream is making great progress in flowering and bud sites have thickened up considerably, trimmed a majority of larfy bud sites on this plant since the discrepancy in the distance to the light was so large. Water pH 6.15, EC 0.4. Feed pH 6.15, EC 0.717.
Sour Kush is beginning to fade significantly and is producing a lot of purple hues. Trichomes on both the Sour Kush and NCH x SB are milky, but the Sour Kush is fully ripe while the other is almost there. Tangerine Dream still trucking along, colas are starting to thicken up substantially. Feed pH 6.3, EC 0.77. Water pH 6.3, EC 0.95.
Chopped on day 78, trichomes were fully milky and beginning to turn amber on the calyxes. I was looking for more of a sativa feel, so I decided to pull her today! She stinks like gas, sour candy, and hints of spice and kush. She started out super strong but began having calcium, nitrogen, and phosphorous issues throughout flower. Fortunately she turned out healthy in the end and pushed out a lot of resin. Decided to go with a Lotus Cure on this round since my last round got dried too quickly and lost a lot of terpenes. Buds were chopped down, green leaves without trichomes removed, and straight into jars and into the mini-fridge at 55-62% RH and 40F.
NCH x SB is still ripening, but most of the leaves are completely faded and dead now. Probably going to chop her within the next week or two as the trichomes fill up, lots of amber on the sugar leaves but the calyxes still have some clear. Tangerine Dream leaves are fading rapidly and dying, so I flushed both her soil and the NCH x SB to try and correct whatever issue I’m facing. Going to continue flushing until I see improvement. Feed pH 6.3, EC 1. Water pH 6.3, EC 0.7.
Decided after seeing the improvement in the Tangerine Dream to continue with the new feeding schedule, which will include a flush in a few days. She got pretty burnt from the salt based nutes, but her flowers have thickened up considerable over the last few days so I will try to get as much out of her as possible. NCH x SB trichomes are finally beginning to fill out with milk, and several sugar leaves have already gone 30% amber. One more week of flushing and I think I’ll chop her down. Feed pH 6.5, EC 0.9. Flush pH 6.2, EC 0.3.
She started out as the most vigorous grower, but may have been too quick for her own good. She began having deficiencies early on which were easy to address, but they came back intermittently. Ultimately she didn’t thicken up quite as much as I would have liked, but the trichome coverage is much higher than the Sour Kush.
Getting into the final stretch here. Gonna give one more round of feeds, a microbial, and start flushing. Trichomes are starting to look primarily cloudy. Feed pH 6.4, EC 1.16.
A week or two left. Just waiting for amber. Discovered some immature seeds in both growers choice plants, inspected and found no bananas. Just took everyone out of the tent and did a deep clean. Not super worried about getting pollinated, as it seems like the plants were self pollinated. NCH x SB did not get pollinated. Feed pH 6.5, EC .95. Microbial pH6.4, EC 0.41.
Started out pretty slow, then blew up like crazy during preflower before running into deficiencies followed by nute burn. In the end I switched to organic nutes and she came out great! Big frosty purple buds consistently ping pong ball sized. Smells like straight skunky oranges. Although this took a really long time for an auto, I would grow this again!
