I wasn't intending to document this grow, so please forgive my lack of note taking. I will do my best to provide a rough estimate of veg time.Since I didn't document start dates, I am going to say she is at the same veg time as the other photoperiods she shared the veg tent with. At the time of posting this, she is at day 70 of veg. I have used the same feed schedule for all my girls. In veg I have been feeding mid This one was a clone from previous run. She was monster cropped (clone taken from flowering plants). I don't know her exact age. She was vegging with the current run of ladies but was stunted when I treated for spidermites. While the rest came back, she took a little longer. Since she has recovered, I have had to do a lot of work training her to fit her small space. She will be moving to flower once I harvest and make some room for her.

I have to say that last run, she didn't turn out like the GDP that I remember. She was probably the most potent of all the strains last run (breeder states 25-35%) but seemed more like a glue cross to me. I have had clones do some interesting stuff and the conditions are better this run, so hoping for the best. She is very robust with tight internodal growth and has a ton of tops from training.

Hello growers! Thanks for joining me for another update in my grow adventure with Grandaddy Purple from Blimburn Seeds! She was moved to 12/12 on 8/8/2020 Observation: She looks happy and healthy with nice green coloration. No indications of toxicity or deficiency and no indications of pests or disease. She has a ton of tops and will likely need thinning in the near future. Hoping for a nice stretch! Method: I am holding back on defoliation until after she finishes her stretch in an effort to avoid stunting. I added some Dutch White Clover as a cover crop. Cover crops are new territory for me. Not only does it look cool, but I have read that it offers several benefits to your plants and rhizosphere. I plan to defoliate rather heavily around week 3 or so of 12/12, after she's done stretching. Thanks again for joining me. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns. Any thoughts, suggestions, or feedback is welcome and encouraged. As always, happy growing! Peace, love, and frosty nugs! ☮️💚❄️🌲

8/17 update: Welcome back to my garden! Thanks for following me on this journey! It has been 9 days since moving this Grandaddy Purple lady into 12/22. Some light stretching starting to happen, but I expect she will start really stretching hard soon! Stay tuned for BUDS! Thanks for stopping in and if you get a chance, check out a few of my other diaries and give me a follow. Happy growin' friends! Peace, ☮️ Love, 💚 and Frosty Nugs! ❄️🌲 - Fo' Twenny

Fo' Twenny Back with another update on our "Grandaddy Purple" from Blimburn Seeds! 8/24: I did some selective defoliation to help increase light penetration. Next watering will be a flush with 2 tsp/gal of Fox Farm's flush agent SledgeHammer. A flush is recommended after week 3 in the Fox Farm Feeding chart. I figure the recommended flush will do some good considering I have a lot of coco in the mix and there are small amounts of salt fertilizer in my schedule. She is really starting to do some stretching and she has an abundance of growing shoots. She has a few leaves that look textured or "crinkled". I tried doing some searches and not sure if this is due to a virus or some other factor. She is center in the tent and the only plant being grown in a fabric pot. She has also been vegging longer than any of the other plants in the garden. She was a survivor from previous run when I almost killed all my plants (did kill one) trying to kill so spider mites. This is the only plant presenting these abnormalities. I gave a lot of detail about the abnormal leaves because I am hoping someone may be able to help me troubleshoot. 8/28: Flushed the medium with tap H2O run through 2 KDF filters with 2 tsp/gal of Fox Farm Sledgehammer flushing agent and pH adjusted to 6.2. I started by giving 5 gallons. After checking the PPM of the runoff I ended up adding 5 more gallons mixed to same specifications. 10 gallons total was shared by 3 large flowering photoperiod cultivars and 1 smaller autoflower. She probably ended up with about 3 gallons give or take. I didn't measure how much each plant received. I just kept flushing each and checking runoff until it was under 1600 ppm. Thanks for checking out my diary. If you liked this diary, check out my other diaries and give me a follow! Until next time... Peace ☮️, Love 💚, And Frosty Nugs ❄️🌲! -Fo' Twenny

Fo' Twenny Back with another update on our Grandaddy Purple from Blimburn Seeds! She is looking really good this week. She still have a few of the feformed leaves that look wrinkled. From some googling, I would guess either Tobacco Mosaic Virus or just a natural deformity. She a cutting from a previous run and she has it then too. It isn't wide spread and she still put out quality medicine. Even though she wasn't very Grandaddy Purplish, she was still gassy and frosty! Other than the funky leaves, she looks super healthy with her leaves "praying" to the canna-gods! Now, let me nerd out with the deets! LIGHTING: Increased lighting at dimmer last week with good results. Was about 70k LUX on average @ Canopy. Turning it up a bit more this week. 8 Outer Boards @ 665.5w 6 Inner Boards @ 601w LUX APP MAXES OUT READING 78750 LUX @ Canopy. Lets hope its not too much! RHIZOSPHERE: If you didn't tune into the last update, I had just flushed pots due to high PPM runoff. pH of runoff was at 6.3. PPM and pH are tested using 2 separate calibrated BlueLab meters. Fo' Twenny Back with another update on our Grandaddy Purple from Blimburn Seeds! 9/9 - Day 32 of 12/12: I waited a day too long to water. So, she started to lightly wilt/ droop a bit. Other than that, she is stacking up and getting frosty! 9/10: She is no longer dropping and looks much happier. Defoliated some leaves that were showing deficiencies. Now, on with the deets! LIGHTING: I had increased lighting at dimmer last week and I think this is causing some stress. It was also getting pretty hot in the tent, which could be part of reason the girls in bloom tent looked a little stressed. It got up to 86°F for 2 days and dimmed the lights to compensate. I will be upgrading the AC soon and maybe then I can experiment more with pushing the lighting intensity. Backing the light off to about 75k lux max at the canopy. RHIZOSPHERE: All Water/Fertilizer is shared by 3 plants 6 gallon tap H20 through 2 KDF filters START PH: 7.2 (taken from reservoir that contains impurities/residue from previous feeds) START PPM: 635 (also taken from reservoir) TEMP: 76°F WEEK 5 FEED SCHEDULE: .25 tsp/gal Gringo Rasta Cal-Mag 1.5 tsp/gal BIG Bloom .5 tsp/gal Grow Big 1 tsp/gal Tiger Bloom .125 tsp/gal Kelp Me Kelp You 1.5 tsp/gal BEMBE .125 tsp/gal Beastie Blooms pH Reading: 5.8 Adjusted pH of solution to 6.3 PPM: 1440 1 tsp/gal RECHARGE .6 ml/gal MAMMOTH P PH: 6.5 PPM: 1480 Added 2 gal h2O to lower PPM pH: 6.5 PPM: 1370 Thanks for checking out my diary. It's week 7 and all is looking great! She is getting super frosty and starting to present some really nice purpling. She smells of fuel right now. She is incredibly resinous and frosty! It's week 8 and all she is looking great as she progresses deeper into senescence; however, she is still a bit greener than either of her tent mates! She just seems to get frostier ❄️ by the day and her fragrance smells a bit sweeter than last time I ran her. I love her colors, the pink and yellow contrast is just beautiful! I keep checking trichomes, but still not a lot of amber. Maybe another week or more. Also, I realized my BlueLab Conductivity Meter has the option to switch to EC. Since EC is the most accurate way to measure the nutrient concentration in a solution, I will now be measuring and reporting EC readings rather than PPM. We're going for about 30-35% amber. That said, I will be letting her go past breeder recommended flowering time. This week, we will be giving very light feeds to get her progressing deeper into senescence. She looks better and smells stronger with each day that passes! This is going to be some really nice smoke! Observation: Ever since I upgraded the AC and have been maintaining lower temps, I notice that don't have to water nearly as often. Used to be about every 3 - 4 days, and now, its closer to 5 - 6 days. The White Dutch Clover may also play a factor here. I do mist the top of the pots with 1-2 oz every day to every other day with plain water to keep the White Dutch Clover happy. Any advice, suggestions, or constructive criticisms are always welcome. Week 19. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

First off I have to say that this is some extremely powerful flower. This mostly Indica cultivar's buds are covered in trichomes and definitely pack some gas! This lady was actually a cutting taken from a previous run. First dance with her, she didn't have the same environmental advantages she had this time around. We are pushing more light that is more evenly distributed, added a humidifier, and we're running cooler temps with a bigger AC unit. I don't know if it was these factors or some changes in the feeding schedule or some other factor, but her terps are off the hook this run. She has a very complex terpene profile with notes of some fruit, some gas, a little cream, and some of that distinctive skunky kush. She tastes very nice too. Not super sweet, but there's a sweetness to her and you definitely catch that gas. I just tested some and on the exhale, I get the aftertaste of PEZ candy, like after eating cherry, raspberry, strawberry, cherry, and grape flavors that end in a soft creamyness that reminds me of the "chalkiness" you get from eating PEZ. She seemed happy most of the way through and she rewarded us with some top quality medicine! I really wasn't that excited with her taste first run, but this time around I am pretty impressed with her overall. She still isn't the GDP I recall from back in the day, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

10/18: Final Flush. Plain water pH to 6.3. 10/23: I harvested her on day 77 of 12/12. She really is easy to grow in terms of nutrients. Never had any issues with her there, but what makes her difficult is that her branches were falling all over the place in late flower with heavy bud weight. That is probably partially my fault in how I had trained her, but she was very difficult to keep standing tall in late flower. Buds were flopping everywhere, but those buds are beautiful colors of pink, purple, with some almost neon greens and yellows. She's a beautiful plant with a high resin production. Regardless of the fact she has a lower wet weight than the other 2 cultivars that were flowering with her and her floppy buds, I really do love this strain! She produced top shelf nugs that are a joy to smoke.

@FoTwenny, yes I have some. I think you can get then bigger with more yield. I was wondering...
FoTwenny
FoTwennycommented5 years ago
@amazongrow, She's still in veg, but she will still grow a lot before she goes into the flower room. I pack them in there pretty tight. I am no expert here, so idk what she will yield. Just being honest. Next run I want to try more of a SOG type grow in half of the tent. The other half I will continue the way I have been growin to see difference in yield. I am still finding my style By bigger, do you mean taller or what? I thought I should keep my canopy from getting too deep to ensure light penetrates through the bottom. Any suggestions or feedback is always appreciated! Thanks for stopping by the garden!

@NatureBoyNeo, Yeah, this pheno (it's a cutting from a previous run) isn't anything worthy of the name Grandaddy Purple. Not fruity and not purple, but who knows... Maybe she will show some different traits under the quantum boards. Last run she was under an AGLEX 3000 w/cobs. All that being said, she IS super potent and still really enjoyable. I'd like to get my hands on some of the GDP beans from Grand Daddy Purp. The original bred by Ken Estes. I used to get some black market GDP that is really just untouchable. Supposedly the producers lost the mom and I have never had anything of that calibre of bud since. It was dense with chunky nugs. It was super potent and incredibly frosty. And it was a beautiful color purple with a shiney white/silver frost and really no green to speak of... Just solid purple buds with bright contrasting orange hairs. It smelled and tasted like Fruity Pebbles cereal. Really just something special. I miss that stuff.

That's a great looking plant, so you took this from a clone? Great training, when you flip this to flower it will be a monster bush!
FoTwenny
FoTwennycommented5 years ago
@MrJones, Yeah, my helper took a cutting from a plant in mid flower. She struggled a bit at first and then I put her through all kinds of hell. She has been through a lot and has come a long way. She was lanky last run, but hoping the new lighting might reduce some stretching in early flower.

@GYOweed, This lady was from a cutting and I kept her because she was very potent the first time I ran her. That was prior to upgrading the lighting and she came out so much nicer this run!
