Week 1: 7/26/2020 I started from a jar with a bunch of seeds that I saved from, ahem, prior adventures in smoking, plus a very few that were bought from some site in Amsterdam years back. Every seed from this jar, except for the 3 Amnesia Haze fems that are actually labeled, will be called "Wildwood Weed." Not all of them are viable. Of the first 12 I attempted to start, 6 never made it into germination using the paper towel technique, and 4 that were started in soil failed. There is one that is growing well, this is it. The other one, I don't think will make it, and it'll be my fault, which is fine. The entire reason I'm doing this is to learn all the wrong ways to do things so I can start doing them right. These essentially 'throw-away' seeds are perfect for this. So this is my first experiment in cannabis growing, and honestly I'm shocked that anything grew at all. I'll name this one "Steele," because it seems pretty hardy under the circumstances! ______________________________________________________________________________________ Planted seed in starter soil on 7/26. First growth started to show on 8/1. Today 8/6/20 it has grown 2.25" since 8/1. So far, steady growth from unknown seed. Plant looks good but stalk seems a bit taller than it should be. Will lower light to improve this. UPDATE: 8/6 pm: Upon turning the light back on (cycling manually 18/6 while waiting for timer to come in), I decided to use an existing rig to lower the puny (probably) 100W light to around 20". I hate seeing a thin stalk, I feel like the plant is suffering.

I have a seedling that is alive but has not popped its cotelydon leaves open yet. It almost looks like part of the seed might be stuck and holding it back. As it stands now, I'm thinking I should just leave it alone and give it a chance to finish the job. Recommendations?

Use your fingernail or tweezers to remove it. It will come off with little resistance. Just make sure you don't tear the roots by doing it, she's very fragile right now, can't be yanking her outta the ground.

Let's say I have different sets of seedlings that will go into a veg tent 2 weeks apart. For example, week 1 = first set of seedlings to veg. Week 3, add to veg tent Week 5, add the next set. Is this even legit? Can you just extend the veg period until they all catch up?

Hey! Yes it could work but I don’t recommend it. I’ll try and break this down. What you want is an even canopy to get even light coverage to have even growth and in the end nice buds. The first ones you add will be taller than the last, now to have an even canopy what you could do is train the first ones as they grow, doing some LST or topping them, so that as they grow your limiting their height so the others can catch up. With a bit of work you could get that done. But the last sets wouldn’t be as advanced as the first ones and won’t have the same size or yield the same even though having the same height. Basically to do this you’ll need to do a lot of training. I recommend you just pop them in all at once and even doing that you’ll have troubles with getting an even canopy and having the same height. Even more if there’s different strains.. sativas and indicas which grow differently. Not even to mention is some or all of them are Autoflowers. If you check out my diaries I’ve got mostly indicas and Teo sativas.. they’re all in the same tent, started together and there’s quite some difference in height.. which took training and adding support to raise the ones that are shorter. Hope this helped you make your mind up. Any questions let me know. Good luck and happy Growing.

@Ferenc, You should look at the plant photos starting from week 1 and into week 7. I can't believe how this plant's health has turned around! SO AWESOME NOW!! I keep forgetting how resilient cannabis can actually be :)

that is a quite common issue, the seed shell remaining stuck. You need to VERY CAREFULLY remove it without damaging the baby leaves.
