•••••••••••••••••••••••••• Oct. 24 - Oct. 30 •••••••••••••••••••••••••• 👩‍🌾 SOWED: Aug. 9th 🕛 12/12 START : Oct.1st 🗓️ WEEK 5 of FLOWERING 🏁 ESTIMATED FINISH: Dec. 14th - Dec. 19th •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• WEEKLY SUMMARY: •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 🙋‍♀️Fo' Twenny here!🙋‍♀️ Back with another update on our mostly Sativa cultivar 💙💭 BLUE DREAM bred by HUMBOLDT SEED ORGANIZATION! I am trying a new format for the weekly summary portion of my diary. Let me know what ya'll think! 👃 AROMA: She smells of haze with and hint of sweetness. I am excited to experience the evolution of her terpene profile as she progresses through flower. One of my favorite aspects of growing cannabis is how much these plants change from start to finish and how much variation is possible with this plant. ❇️ BUD STRUCTURE: Lower calyx to leaf ratio than I would prefer and looking pretty ordinary. I am hoping she will bulk up a bit as she progresses. It's still pretty early and I am optimistic this is just the calm before the storm! 🎨 Color: She is a nice healthy shade of green. 🌿 STEM, STRETCH, & INTERNODES: She has really surprised me. She did not stretch as much as I had predicted. She is one of the shortest cultivars in the tent. She has thick stems with tight internodal spacing from top to bottom with a tendency to want to produce side branches. ✂️ TRAINING/PRUNING: I have continued selective defoliation as needed to avoid crowding herself and her neighbors. I remove no more than 25% of foliage at any one time, and usually closer 10-15%. I space out defoliation with a minimum of 3 days between sessions, in most instances. There will be exceptions to that, but it's a good rule of thumb I try to adhere to. She has been trained to have 4 main shoots and I am using LST techniques to gently bend her stems to evenly fill her space without overcrowding. ❄️TRICHOMES/RESIN PRODUCTION: She is probably the least frosty at this point in the run. Due to having a longer flowering time, it iss likely she is just a late bloomer. 🚿 WATER/FEED: I have continued with a light bidiurnal misting of White Dutch Clover cover crop . This, in conjunction with running lower temps (New AC), has seemed to have drastically increased feeding intervals. My plants are needing much less water than in previous runs. I typically give the whole SOG one feed per week with light watering of select individual cultivars as needed between feeds. I try my best to "read" my garden. The amount of water between feeds depends on how soon the next feed will be. I feed the garden as a whole and this run I have been generally spacing feeds out about 4-6 days when the the first plant shows beginning signs of wilt (slight droop of lower fan leaves). 📝 OBSERVATION/NOTES: She doesnt appear to have any signs of deficiency or toxicity. I think I may have stunted her during the stretch because I had split her stem performing some light LST that turned out to be some some accidental HST. Oops 🤷‍♀️. Any advice, suggestions, or constructive criticisms are always welcome. Now, for the weekly break down! •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• THIS WEEK'S BREAK DOWN •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 10/29 - Day 81/Day 29 of Bloom °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 🚿 FEED DAY 🚿 The cultivar received approximately 1 gallon of solution. I mixed 17 gallons of solution for 17 plants. The solution is applied via wand sprayer powered by a submersible pump attached to a garden hose. Nice mainline! Your plants always look nice so I'd like to ask ya a question? I read in another one of your posts about your soil mix and it seems to be a nice soil, but you also have quite a lineup in bottled nutes that you also deliver; seems like the cost would pile up. I'd like to ask if you feel like your soil mix is lacking, do you feel your plants get hungry easily? Basically, what are your ideas on soil health?

@FoTwenny, sounds awesome. Love to hear it. I've used soil for years, but I've been wanting to do side by sides on some of the cuts I've kept for ages for exactly the same reasons. Just last night I almost bought these different packs of nutes to do a bubble bucket run comparing the lines. Decided I should wait til I move into my new house in Nov before I start anything new though... I'll throw my two cents what I've done in the past: shorter veg is better for yield if you fill the space with more plants. Did some training experiments in a 4x4 a while ago. Pure numbers in a sea of green was the best. 25 plants in 1.5 gallon pots, vegged for 3 weeks, flowered for 8. Harvested 47oz(1.3kg) in 11 weeks. No real training, just lots of cloning.

@ZalySk, The soil is good probably good for 2-4 weeks without much nutes. Once I introduce nutes, I never use more than half strength, and often go quarter strength. I try to read my plants and adjust accordingly. I have tried other nutes in the past, supersoil mixes, but have had my best results with this line. Since I am using the full line of nutes, the doses are much smaller than the bottles recommend and I buy by the gallon of nutes used in higher volumes and they last quite a while. Eventually, I would like to do some side by side experimentation to compare nutrient lines. Once I can upgrade my grow location and have the space, I'd also like to experiment with different pruning techniques performed on multiple cuttings from the same mother and see which averages the most yield per day. I am curious to see if taking longer to veg equates to a larger yield per day. I read a lot of stuff other growers have done, but I want to have everything controlled running the same. Then I will duplicate the experiments with other strains to see if those results were strain dependant or if there is a common trend regardless of strain. I am still newer at growing on this level, and still have a lot to learn.

@greenflipcali89, LST/Tie and tie her down. You could super-crop by pinching stems or top the plant. If she's too bushy, may need to open her up with pruning. Good luck and happy growing!
