Alright, second time around! If you followed my last diary, you know that I did a few things right and had a pretty solid plant for a while. The major issue I had was nutrient problems. I had overfed/overwatered my plant consistently in the early stages and had trouble bringing her to flower to the point where I had to trash it (even though she took up the whole tent!). It was an unfortunate lesson in buying organic soil/organic nutrients. This time around, I'm much more cognizant of my nutrients and soil. I'm growing two rather than one in a 24x24 tent, so my goal is to keep them low and get a nice small SoG going after some LST. Both seeds grew their tails last night in their cups of water, so I've planted them and they should hopefully sprout in a couple days! I'll update with pictures when they do. Good luck with your grows! For Rock and Stone. Day 5: It's alive! The first one poked through the soil today. I was afraid I'd planted them too deep, so I went ahead and fished for them. This one I was able to find and replant closer to the surface (good thing too, as it was certainly too deep). I couldn't find the other one unfortunately, although I was less sure on it because the taproot was fairly small. I'll keep a light on both until Day 14, then if the other one hasn't popped I'll dump some of the soil into the other container and focus on Audrey IV (named after Little Shop of Horrors). Also, sorry for the terrible pictures. Once she's more established I'll start taking her out for pictures like I did in my last grow.

Not much changing this week! Audrey is fairly small, and while she's been fed and watered with micronutrients via foliar spraying, I don't plan to do much different until Week 3. Interestingly, she is VERY small in comparison to this time in Week 2 with my last grow. They are older seeds, plus the last one had major nute burn, so I'd rather take this slow if it means a quality grow. I'll update later in the week. For Rock and Stone! Day 12: Audrey is still pretty small. I've been keeping her container moist, and drainage is perfectly good. I haven't seen almost any growth this week except a slow extension of her 2nd set of leaves. Although she hasn't hit her 3rd node yet, I'm going to start her on a light set of nutrients in week 3. I'm guessing she's used up most of her nutes in the seed itself, so if I want some growth it's going to have to be through additional nutrients. 2nd seed hasn't come up after almost 2 weeks, so I've moved that container out and am focusing only on Audrey. Good luck with your grows!

As I suspected, Audrey is beginning to grow more now that I've added full nutrients into her feedings! I'm guessing she's going to be a slow grower, but as long as she stays healthy I'm fine with that. Her 2nd set of leaves is beginning to fully extend, and my hope is that this week we start to see more of an explosion of growth. I'll update throughout the week. Day 16: Oh yeah, she needed the nutes! Immediately finished her second set, 3rd set is already coming in less than 24 hours. Lesson learned y'all: sometimes seedlings do require additional nutes to kickstart their growth cycle. Day 17: Some mild nute burn on the leaves, to be expected since I used full strength nutes. Going to dial back to at least 1/2, won't be feeding her again until the beginning of next week. Day 19: New growth is looking good, coming in about as expected. Very slight canoeing of bottom leaves suggest a bit of overfertilizing or overwatering, so again I'll be keeping nutes to 1/2 strength and watering on Friday. Growth has gone from yellow-green to green across most of the plant, suggesting that the soil was deficient in nutes and needed some additional stuff to kickstart. Will probably start LST next week once she's grown another couple of nodes. She's also in a 5 gallon pot filled with 3.5 gallons of soil, so I might add a bit of additional soil as she grows. Should be easy enough if I fill the whole medium with water to allow the soil to settle.

Starting Week 4 alright! Audrey is small for Week 4, but I attribute this to a.) Not sprouting until Day 5, b.) A lack of nutrients in the soil through Weeks 1-2, and c.) Old seeds. I'd peg this more like halfway through Week 2, so I expect I'll have to harvest her later than normal. She remains low but growing consistently. She should take off a bit more this week. I've moved the light up again with the hope that she'll stretch enough for me to start LST. Nutrient wise, she only has mild burn from that first set of nutrients at the end of Week 2. I've dialed them up just a bit more to see when I need to cut back. The second I see mild nute burn I'll have dialed it in. I've also got a lot more runoff than I used to with the same amount of watering (anywhere between 1/4-1/2, even when watering every 3 days). This is due to the fabric pot, which I love. It's been so much cleaner and less of a headache! It also has allowed me to test the runoff, which is consistently 6.4-6.5, exactly where I want it. I'll update throughout the week. Good luck with your grows! For Rock and Stone. Day 24: I'm starting LST training. Last time I did this I used garden stakes and it worked really well, allows for me to move the stakes higher and higher up the stalks as it continues growing and doesn't harm the plant at all. Biggest issue I'll have this time is I've filled a 5 gallon fabric pot with 3.5 gallons of soil, so I may eventually have to cut the rim in order to move allow the leaves to grow past its walls. Day 27: I always hate how mangled the poor plant looks after LST training! I've already ripped a couple leaves by accident while moving the stakes. She's growing quickly now though, and nutrients/water seem to be on point. Couple issues I found: seed was replanted shallowly, so some of the roots are close to the surface. If the soil gets disturbed I end up having to cover them back up. Other issue is that I noticed a gnat flying around when I took the pictures for Day 27. Swatted it, and not sure if it was with the plant inside the tent, but might end up having to treat with Neem oil if it turns out to be fungal gnats.

Welcome! If you're just joining us, it's the beginning of Week 5. Audrey is growing consistently, if behind on schedule. I'd peg this as about Week 3 growth. Nutrients are on point, as is pH. Currently working on getting her LSTed and opening more nodes for growth. I'm expecting another growth spurt this week. I'll update throughout the week. Good luck with your grows! For Rock and Stone. Day 30: I'm going to update with a couple random thoughts I've had so far when comparing this grow to the last grow, which you can see here (both were Northern Lights Auto, last one ended up failing late in its life cycle): https://growdiaries.com/diaries/70337-seedsman-northern-lights-auto-grow-journal-by-4rockandstone/week/338492 First, looking at pictures of both, this grow is almost exactly 2 weeks behind the last grow. However, the last grow I had lots of trouble with nutrients and pH imbalance, which is what I think eventually did me in (as well as possibly being given Fem regular seeds rather than Auto seeds). Comparing pics from the start of Week 3 last grow to Week 5 of this grow, I can see a definite difference in health. This current grow leaves are a healthy green, no shininess or clawing. pH has remained the exact same the whole grow, almost stubbornly at 6.5. I'm much more confident that I can finish this one. It goes to show how important organic soil and proper nutrients is to a plant. Day 33: A few updates. First, Audrey has officially entered her stretch phase! A lot of her nodes that I've been LST are growing 1-2 inches overnight. By the end of this week she should cover the whole pot. At that point I'll let her finally start growing vertically. Last time I did this I continued to LST by tying potential colas to the pot so I could continue the LST, but with a fabric pot this time I'm not sure how that'd go. Any thoughts? Also, my Vivosun 4 in. inline fan has begun making a nasty grinding noise like the ball bearings are failing (after only 5 months...). I've reached out to customer support since it's under warranty to see about getting a new one. In the meantime, I'm tolerating it but can't work in the same room as the tent now. I hope to have it replaced in the next week. Finally, health wise everything is going well with Audrey. Her leaves are a healthy green, no nutrient burn. Only spots have stemmed from accidentally splashing nutrient water while feeding that never evaporated off. No gnats either, so must have been a fluke last week. Her taproot is gigantic, and I continue to have to cover it up because it's so close to the surface. When she grows a couple inches in height next week I'll cover it up with much more dirt. Overall, going well!

Welcome! If you're just joining us, glad to have you. Audrey at Week 6, about Week 4 in terms of growth. Nutes are on point (mayhaps a bit too much nitrogen, but can correct that this week), pH is a little higher than I'd like at 6.5 but well within adequate range for veg. Besides some nute splash causing mild spots on leaves and some ragged growth/rips in the leaves from handling during LST, she's healthy. Still LSTing through this week, although I'm going to start allowing her some more height starting midway through the week. Speaking of, it's hard to tell how much Audrey has grown because of the LST and her strange root depth. Her highest point vertically is about 3 inches from the soil, but her main stem is somewhere between 6-8, having stretched in a backwards C shape while LST. This is intentional, as I intend to keep her low until we get close to bloom then allowing her to grow naturally. With my last grow the NL Auto took up the whole tent by Week 11 and was brushing the lights, so I want to avoid that much height growth before harvest (burnt buds aren't worth the hassle). The other conundrum I'm thinking of is that I'm suspicious that these NL Auto seeds from Seedsman weren't actually autos. I had a lot of veg growth in the last grow but virtually no blooming, and no buds whatsoever. Judging from other customer reviews at the time, I think these were regular fem seeds. As such, I'll be switching to 12-12 if I don't see any signs of bloom by the end of Week 7 (next week). At the end of this week I'll start switching my nutes to bloom nutes in preparation. Good luck with your grows! I'll update through the week. For Rock and Stone. Day 39: I've been very aggressive with my LST. Perhaps too aggressive...besides some ripped leaves (which you can see most clearly in the bottom-right cola) I ended up snapping one of my larger colas during LST yesterday and didn't catch it. She's a goner unfortunately. I'll be easing off LST at the end of this week. I've been aggressive because my last attempt at this was a very, very large plant that ended up taking up the tent, and I want to keep her low this time around. One thing I noticed today is the faint sparkle of trichromes coming in! I never had any of those on my last grow, so that's a very good sign. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow if I can zoom in enough. I'm intending to switch to bloom nutrients on the next feeding. If I don't see any impact at the end of next week, it's 12-12 to force her into bloom. I'm not taking chances like I did with my last NL Auto grow! Day 41: So couple updates. I've switched to bloom nutrients using Foxfarm's feeding schedule. I may add some molasses next week into the nutrient schedule, but we'll see. I'm beginning to see yellowing between the margins of the upper leaves (probably can't see from photos, shows up well under the LED). This is a similar problem I had with the last grow in Week 7, eventually devolving into a full blown crisis of dead leaves everywhere and yellowing up and down the plant with no flowering. It's not light burn; LED is too far away for that. Doubt it's magnesium because it's only on the upper growth. Could be zinc deficiency or potassium. My goal is to break the pH from the 6.5-6.7 range and bring it down to 6.2-6.4 range and see if that helps. The additional bloom nutrients might help add in enough potassium. Finally, she's not showing any signs of nute lockout or nute burn, so I doubt it's that. Also! Last week my Vivosun fan's bearings started to fail after 5 months, so I ordered a replacement. Their customer service was a hassle, the new fan that was sent was broken on arrival (fan blade snapped in half, rotor disconnected from hub entirely), and the 2nd replacement fan still hasn't shown up after a delay in shipping. So to everyone, a warning on buying Vivosun fans! The room has been smelling up a storm, and it's started to percolate to other parts of the house. So much for a stealth grow...fingers crossed the new fan gets here soon.

Welcome! Audrey has officially entered the flowering stage. I caught the first couple white pistils on her today while taking photos. When they get a little larger they should start showing up. I think she probably has 1-2 weeks of a stretch phase left in her before she kicks into making buds full time. I've kept her low, so she's only about 6 inches off the pot. Personally I'm good with this. I hope she gains another 12-18 inches in height, but I'd rather she build out than up. Health wise Audrey is doing good. Slight nute burn from the most recent feeding where I fed her a bloom booster, molasses, and epsom salt, but it seemed to have done the trick. pH is stubbornly at 6.5-6.7 range still, and while I'll keep trying to bring it down at a certain point I'll just let it go. I've brought the humidity down to between 35-45% for the flowering stage, temp is remaining between 77-80 degrees F. No more LST; I'm letting her grow naturally from here on out. Perhaps some defoliation at the end of the week because her LST has led to a thick bush. With signs of flowering, I'm hesitant to kick to 12-12 unless there's no major improvement by the end of this week (last grow she grew her first few pistils then just never flowered). We'll see there. I'll update throughout the week. Good luck with your grows! For Rock and Stone. UPDATE DAY 46: There's definitely pistils beginning to show. My apologies for the awful pic of one, they're super small still. I'll hold off on kicking to 12-12 until next week, let her do her thing and hope this really is an auto seed. Also picked up an AC Infinity inline fan to replace my broken Vivosun, and while it's not pushing as much air it is getting rid of the smell finally. Back to stealth grow! Temperature is going to be up around 80-82, but I'm willing to deal with the increase. UPDATE DAY 48: Audrey has hit a growth stretch and starting to really move! I'm hoping to see flowers pop in the next week. That will be my indicator to keep her at 24-0, but if she doesn't have them by Friday next week it's 12-12 to kick her flowering into high gear. I've cut out her Grow Big entirely and am feeding her just bloom nutes to trigger that switch. Also, pH is finally at 6.3. She's also taking in tons more water, about 3L every 3 days. Going to have to continue adding more water to intermittent waterings. UPDATE DAY 49: Going into Week 8 I've decided to do my last LST session and my only defoliation/lolipopping of the grow. Since she hasn't started growing flowers and she's fairly bushy, this is a way to open up the last few nodes to light and prep her for packing on buds. After the LST she's taking up most of the 2x2 tent, which is exactly what I want. My goal is to have her take up the majority of the square footage rather than the 1.25x1.25 section she was previously.

Welcome! Audrey is looking good heading into Week 8. I ended last week with a last LST and defoliation/lollipop session. She's wide enough now that she'll take up the square footage of the tent once she's grown a bit more. Also has kept her low, exactly how I want it. Without LST she'd be about 16-18 inches on her main cola, but right now she's sitting at 10 across the board. Nutes on point, pH on point, stems and leaves healthy, temp and humidity on point. She perked up a lot after the defoliation so I'm guessing another growth spurt week. Biggest concern I have this week is getting her flowers out. If you've followed this, you know I strongly suspect these are not auto seeds. Although she's grown her first white pistils, I'm not seeing any triggering of the flower. If she's not built any flowers by the end of this week I'm flipping her to 12-12 to trigger the process, no questions asked (last grow I did with these seeds she grew the entire tent without flipping to flowering. Not having that again!). If you have experience with 12-12 on autos, let me know. I'm most curious about whether I can flip her back to 24-0 once she's into flower to finish the process. UPDATE: I just looked on Seedsman's website to see if there's new reviews and yep, a lot of people stating they received photoperiods. I'm switching it to 12-12 now rather than the end of the week; I've been growing since May without a harvest because of this screw up on Seedsman's part, so I'm not waiting around! I'll update throughout the week. Good luck with your grows! For Rock and Stone. Day 52: God, I wish this plant was done after last night's roller coaster. Well, good news is that the 12-12 flip seemed to have triggered flowering, as those pistils are blowing up all over the plant. The ones that already were there have lengthened considerably. Seeing as the last grow she only had a few wispy ones, I consider this a good sign. Will probably do some more defoliation at the end of the week to clear out some of the new growth on the underside that isn't getting any light.

It's starting Week 9, and it looks like we'll start getting true flowers this week! Audrey is still growing like lightning, did another 5 inches the past week. I really hope she slows down because I only have about another 5 inches of headroom before I have to start jerry rigging something. Everything seems on point and Audrey is healthy, so not much to report there. As usual, I'll update throughout the week. One thing -- my apologies for the drop in picture quality. She's gotten so big I can't take her out easily from the tent without possible damage, and I intend to try some minor LST to keep her lower. I'll do my best with the pictures. Good luck with your grows! For Rock and Stone. UPDATE DAY 60: Not much to report! Audrey is looking good. Temperatures have fluctuated a bit where I live, but nothing too egregious. Flowering is fully in, with nice pistils blowing up all around. I should start seeing buds forming over the next week. Headroom is what I'm most concerned about, and although she's slowed down I hope she slows a little more so I don't get any burn. Good news is I unintentionally trained the main colas out to the corners of the tent, so they can grow a little larger than the middle without absorbing as much light. I've also switched from watering every 3 days to every 2 with less volume, as it's easier for me to parse out the nutrients that way. I think at this point Audrey has about 5-8 weeks left, depending on how long she takes to form her buds. Let's hope it's the former!

Alrightie, looking good for Week 10! Pistils blowing up everywhere, flowers coming in full force, beginnings of buds beginning to show. She might have been running late, and I might have had to switch her to 12-12 to trigger flower, but she's there now. Looking at another 4-7 weeks before harvest. Temps on point, nutes on point. I've scaled back on the epsom salt and Grow Big, added more molasses to get some K in there. Water volume is decent, but I'm not getting runoff so I can't check her pH at the roots. I might do at least one minor flush this week to check runoff, but she's kept in the 6.0-6.7 range all grow so I'm not too worried. Healthy with very little nute burn. At this point it's a waiting game. Only real issue is with the four corners having grown past my LST, I've moved the light as far up as it can go without jerry rigging. Here's to hoping she doesn't grow any more (but she probably will, knowing her). Don't want any light burn if I can help it. Did some defoliation of a few fan leaves and previously lollipopped spots to open her up some more. I'll update throughout the week! Good luck with your grows. For Rock and Stone. UPDATE DAY 67: Nothing really to report! Audrey is healthy. Vertical growth has all but stopped. Buds are coming in steady. Taking a fan leaf or two every day when I notice them covering a juicy bud site, but otherwise leaving her alone. It's the waiting game now. I think my only other bit is dialing nutes even better. I have no good bloom boosters available, so I'm making due with natural ingredients (molasses being the big one, might add wood ash next week). If you have thoughts on good natural K ingredients leave them in the comments below!

Welcome! If you're just joining us, we're beginning Week 5 of flowering with a NL Auto(?). I had to switch Audrey to 12-12 to trigger flower, so who knows if this is actually an auto. She's trucking along well, no nute problems or pH problems, weather is stable, and she's healthy as can be! I did a very slight flush at the end of last week and got her root pH, which was 6.2. Perfect! She's stopped growing vertically and is building her buds out and beginning to get real frosty on the top sites. I'm guessing I have 3-5 weeks left. This week and next week will determine when I do a final flush. Couple things I've been doing: I'm defoliating fan leaves that block bud sites at a rate of 3-5 leaves a day. Hasn't affected her at all. Also stepped up the molasses to get more K in there, and that's really done the trick. She's actually reacting well to more nutes rather than less, which is surprising for marijuana. I don't want to pressure it, but if I had two plants I'd experiment more with nutes. Her root ball is also at the surface now and she could suck down 3L every 48 hours if I let her (currently sticking with 2L to keep her dry cycles up), so if you end up growing NL Auto I'd suggest a 5 gallon bucket for the biggest yield. As it stands, I'd love to get 2-4oz out of her. This batch is going into tinctures, which I'll document as well for people interested. I'll update as usual throughout the week! Make sure to check back, these next two weeks should see some fattening buds. Good luck with your grows! For Rock and Stone. Day 74: Not much to report! Photos aren't showing it well, but she's slowing fattening up. Trichomes are making her real frosty. If she continues on that route, she's going to be a real frosty girl. Humidity has been a problem, as temperatures have dropped here and she's hovering at 40% as long as I keep the room closed. Catching new pistils turning brown now, so she's on track to harvest. I'd say no more than 2-3% of pistils have browned, so it'll be a while. Although it's a couple weeks away, I'm considering how I'll accomplish a flush. She's pushing against the tent walls, so if I try to pull her out I'll be disturbing the buds a lot. Will have to get creative on that one.

Starting the week off well! Audrey is Week 12 and has about 2-4 weeks to go. I judge she'll be right in the middle at 3 weeks. Some bits I'm noticing having changed in the past few days -- she's taken on a fruity smell that is very strong, starting to leak even through the carbon filter. Her pistils are starting to brown up -- I'd say no more than 10-15% right now. Her calyx's are swelling and frosting up nicely, and she's starting to give up on some of the lower leaves that aren't getting light. We're approaching the harvest window for sure! One problem I noticed is the past couple feedings have given her some not-so-great nute burn even though I've changed nothing in her regimen, so I'm dialing back hard this week. Doing two small light feedings, then going to nothing but water starting 12/03. Going to keep an eye out for mold, since these are the hard weeks to worry about. I'll update throughout the week! Good luck with your grows. For Rock and Stone. Day 80: Well, because she's continued to get some nute burn from the minimal nutes I've added, I went ahead and did a flush today. I had to take her out of the tent to do so, and damn she's a lot wider than expected! Her poor colas are so fat they were all falling over! My largest cola actually snapped towards the base, and although I've taped her back up if she looks like it's a goner I'll harvest that cola early (it's probably my furthest along, with 50% pistils having changed). She's back in the tent and propped up, so she won't be taking any more trauma going forward. I did get a taste test, and she's got a real fruity and pine-y taste to her. Here's to hoping things are more chill going forward. Day 81: Checked in today and she seems to be doing fine. The cola that snapped is still getting nutrients, hasn't crisped up at all. Tape job really did work. She's resilient! Since she got put back into the tent opposite side the pics are going to look funky until I can get some better lighting. That, plus all the colas falling over every time I open the tent now. Need to work on support structure next time I grow, since I LST'ed her so hard that the smallest branches never thickened up in time to support the colas. Bet it would work better with a pure photoperiod. Day 84: With pistils at about 60-70% brown and curling and trichromes mixed, we decided to sample a bit. Took 1-2g wet + trim off a middle bud, and after decarb made a small tincture with it. On a scale of 1-10 in terms of "high," both wife and I rated it about a 3/10. Super mellow, took the edge off, but no body high at all and very little emotional high. About what I expected when checking trichromes. I'm thinking it needs at least another week, if not 2-3. Will sample some more next week.

Are these trichromes cloudy, clear, or a mix of both?

From what I can see it's a healthy mix of Cloudy and Clear. Look for 30% amber for a harvest sweet spot on your plant. Always look to the buds and not sugar leafs when checking! 🤘😤

Week 13, just about in the harvest window! I'd say the window should start this week. Audrey is looking good. The flush last week got rid of the nute burn. I'm doing very little feeding at this point, don't want to starve her but any additional nutes she can pull from her leaves. The sample we tried last week was pretty mild in effect, so that mix of cloudy and clear trichomes seems on point. Waiting for some to turn amber before I consider a full harvest. Pistils somewhere in the 50-70% brown range, lots of curling. Colas are fat and falling over in the tent, so not removing her again until harvest. At this point it's the waiting game. We'll try another sample sometime mid-week I think and report back. Daily pictures, as usual! I'll try to include at least 1 trichrome picture for each day from different buds for accurate representation. Good luck with your grows! -4RockandStone UPDATE Day 88: So a few things to report. Some fan leaves are starting to fade, and lots of the sugar leaves and brown pistils are curling inward. Buds are becoming much more exposed and noticeably fatter. She's pushed out a few new white pistils on buds, but they're grouped up. I'd say 70-80% of old pistils have browned. More trichromes are cloudier than this time last week, but no amber yet. We're going to take a sample tomorrow and report back, so stay tuned! UPDATE Day 89: We took a sample, the sister bud of last week's sample. Immediately noticed a difference of about 1.5x in weight on the scale from last week. Like last week, we ended up trying it in tinctures after decarb of 60 minutes at 115 Celsius. Way better results -- both of us experienced a longer, stronger head high. Lot more energetic, we rated it around a 6-6.5/10. Only disappointment was no body vibes yet. We'll keep waiting, but we're officially in the window! No amber trichromes, so my guess is they'll show up in the next week.

Well, here we are, last week! I unfortunately will have to cut this by Sunday of next week due to family coming for Christmas, so my hope is Audrey is ready by then with some amber trichromes showing. If not, we'll be doing sampling over the next week to gauge how well off she is. She's obviously close to the end of her life cycle, as her fan leaves are starting to fade, buds have swollen past leaves in some places, and trichromes are almost all cloudy now. Based on the samples from the past two weeks I did a quick estimation of how much I might harvest, and it looks to be at least above 70 grams including trim. That's about where I'm shooting. Going to take a moment to leave a critical review for anyone considering this Seedsman strain -- DON'T. I can't guarantee her genetics after the debacle of switching to 12-12, she's been extremely slow growing for an auto, and while she smells great and size is alright this has *not* been beginner friendly, stealthy, or swift. My suggestion would be to go with another seed bank if you're looking for an NL Auto and want one of those three things above, or just do a Seedsman photoperiod NL. That's my bitch-fit for the diary! We'll be pulling off a sample today and will report back tomorrow. We'll pull another sample on Wed-Thu and report back. Check back then, and good luck with your grows! For Rock and Stone. UPDATE DAY 93: Took the sample yesterday (about 2g wet) and baked it at 115 C for 40 minutes. After some adjustments to the dose, she worked like a charm. Nice and heady, low dose was pretty chill and calming and could get stuff done, higher dose was much more "baked" feeling. Little body high, not much. I'd rate a 7/10 and probably be fine if this is as good as she got for a harvest. As it stands, I'm letting it go until I find at least a few amber trichromes or Sunday rolls around. She'll gain weight in the meantime. UPDATE DAY 94: The wife has given the go-ahead for a harvest! We both enjoyed the high we got and would actually like to avoid a couchlock scenario, and I've been finding 30% of amber trichromes on sugar leaves (not buds, but again we're looking for peak THC with this indica) so we're starting the harvest today. I'll report back with plenty of photos soon!

Week 14. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

You can read my report from Week 14, but a bad set of seeds that I had to treat as a photoperiod which killed my yield, long grow (14 weeks and probably could have gone another 2 weeks easily, compared to the 8 Seedsman suggests), and an okay harvest size. It's resilient, I'll give it that, but even for the quality of bud I wouldn't recommend it, especially to starters. Just go straight NL photoperiod or another seed bank's NL Auto strain.

I'm not going to go into super detail summarizing the grow! I've written a couple thousand words and posted a couple hundred pictures, so if you want a breakdown just go read the damn diary! Instead I'll break down how the harvest itself went here. Wife and I decided to cut it because this strain has shown few negative effects and we liked the high we got from our samples (only thing I miss is a euphoric/giggly stage, but that might be fixable with higher dosing). We don't smoke (gasp!), but we do edibles, so this whole batch was intended for tinctures. We debated drying them for a few days, but we've gotten good results with baking fresh, so we went ahead yesterday with that. Wet bud minus the stems and trim came out to be 367g, which when baked at 240 degrees for 40-60 minutes (did a tray of each) came out to be 82g dried. It ain't hang-drying and cure, but gives an idea of what to expect! Crumbled in the hand, so it's about as dry as one could get. Also pulled off 56g of trim which ended up as 12g once baked and was thrown into the tinctures for good measure. 52g of stems, all discarded. Tincture recipe used 190 Everclear prepped in the freezer. We shook it around for 20 minutes before sampling a bit, understanding that it probably won't be at full potency for a couple weeks. High is pretty mellow, very relaxed and can make you sleepy but easy to keep moving and energized. Certainly not couch-lock. I'm curious to see if its potency will change after sitting a couple weeks. I'll update if it does. This has been a fun diary to keep up! Hopefully it'll help some of you NL Auto growers. We've got enough weed for the next year, so I'll probably start another grow next fall. Until then, good luck with your grows! - 4RockandStone UPDATE 12/29: Adding to this now that I've done a first batch. After 2 weeks in the freezer, potency has definitely increased some, but not as much as I'd like. I was shooting for something like 3-4ml being my dosage, but it's more like 5-6ml. Could be it just wasn't done, could also be my decarb wasn't enough/was too much. Good news is when it hits it's giving more of a body vibe, so I'd give it like an 8-9/10 depending on the day. I'm running a second wash now, so I'll update if I pull more out from a second wash. That'd really boost the usefulness of it if I can get another 25-33% potency and would be my ideal. Either way, it's about 3-4 months of supply of daily moderate usage as it stands, but more like 9 months-a year of a few times a week. 3.6, not great, not terrible!

@TheGourmetWeed, I have an end date I have to keep to due to company, but I intend to run her as long as I can! NL Autos can take a while; some people on Grow Diaries ran theirs 18-24 weeks!

@4RockandStone, thank you for the kind words :D If you followed my diary, then I really give you a good piece of advice. Let it be a couple more weeks than I did. I regret now harvesting so soon as the effects could be stronger.

@TheGourmetWeed, thanks man! I've been looking at your diary the past few weeks to gauge what to expect with this NL Auto. Hope it turns out as well as yours!
