Things are coming along nicely. Both plants shows signs of magnesium deficiencies so the bale of soil got conditioned with Epsom salts. Light has been dimmed lower and raised higher to reduce stress to the plants.
Mate they look awesome.Great genetics! Do you still think your A5 is a NL dominant pheno? It looks very sativa in flowering.Expect some very hard, compact buds from it.It looks that way to me.Looking great!!
Gotta sayi t's hard to tell. Plant was defoliated and striped of big fan leaves at flip and 5 days ago. Sometimes leaves grown in flower stay narrower than older ones from late vedge (??).
I agree: nice genetic! She will be a beauty queen!
Thank you for your kind words!
They are looking great, I have also been surprised with the lack of stretch with some of the landrace style sativas. Panama didn’t stretch much either. My Grinspoon was the biggest stretcher so far and likely will stop at about 4 1/2 feet. (Topped twice)
You seem to have topped A5 at 4th node if I'm not wrong and it had quite long internode distance in veg.Isn't it marvelous how these plants at least triple in size in flowering? Mine has already 6 nodes at week 4,gonna top it in a couple of days.Side branches getting bolder every day. What is your yield expectation on your Killer A5 Haze? It'll give you 100+ easily,I guess.
@sativaman, my god! I thought we talked today but it says you replied 1 day ago! im non stop high I think but can't feel that ??!! sorry for late reply.
yeah I'm actually happy with my A5,others are doing great too.My pheno looks to be really sativa, very thin leaves as yet. haze dominant or silverish malawi might be.I'm thinking about switching to flower next thursday.
@sativaman,definitely,this is what I'm experiencing since I started growing with a hps lamp all the way through.longer plants with lots of open space between branches.only 1 topping and some lst and these plants reach the climax. It becomes harder to do lst on them when internodal distance is shorter, just like Congo which has tighter structure.First top, then lst when other branches get long enough to bend, then a few hst's after switching.
@HighRoller909, smell is very addictive! Their is a lot going on when you take a deep breath. Nothing close to any other strain. Smells like medicine, pine, varsol paint thinner, maturing to a tropical sweet note. You get spicy tone with decombosed matters.
On the other hand it's very manageable my tent have positive pressure and very light nutty smell in the room.
@Oldbay, Days in the sun ..lucky to you!!! here it's winter coming. Well if you grow them outside you might get the best out of them with long 2 months of summer vegetation! Those Malawis seems pretty legit as far of potency. I have 2 already 7 weeks in and they smells like crazy good stuff. Larger one have hearty, fuel, and mint aromas. Then other one smells sweet and lemony.
Best of luck on your pheno and happy season!
Looking for full smoke review, it looks really fantastic after live trimming and it is a great yielder as well, can't believe how it turned out after vegetation phase! Always gotta love scissor or finger hash. Never disappoints :)
@sativaman, hahah I believe. You don't know what I did... Few days ago while harvesting that automatic girl scout cookies, I noticed one of the Golden Tiger's bottom, tiny side branch from a main branch was bent over.Instead of fixing it,I cut it down and hung for 3 days. There was no callyxes on it,only some sugar leaves with trichomes and very very early calyx formation. 0.04gr total. It was dope!!! Drove me into very warm and dreamy place. No joke, it really did. No placebo because that auto is very weak and turned out disappointing,I was able to feel the difference. The small sample of GT was much better than it! AND THE GOLDEN TIGER HAS 7 WEEKS MORE to harvest!!! I can't imagine what GT and A5 could be in the end.
@Grey_Wolf, I am an hardcore cannabis lover. I live in Canada. Here it is fully legal. This means multi million $ company push out nerw strains, with a lot of money spent in research and development aka pheno hunt, some Licensed Producers even gets elite clone straight from breeders. ACE's Malawi is one of those strain that not only compete with the most exotic and expensive stock available in term of potency but it's effects put them in back! You can google SQDC cannabis: this is the government own store that sells weed!
It is good to see Killer A5 Haze is starting to flower only after 2 weeks into flowering.I have one running at the moment at day 10,it grows really fast and vigorous as yet.
@sativaman, Yes I read about it on their website, out of 4 yours seem to be more indica containing phenotype indeed but at least,it's gonna finish up quick.I wanted to grow a red pheno of Panama but I got the green one, totally depends on the packager guy's aura that day :) It will be a great one at the end I'm sure about it whether it is NL or Haze dominant.I hope I have silverish malawi pheno but can't say anything yet.But it grows really fast that's all I can say,for a 9 days old seedling. My diaries always come a couple of weeks later than actual position, you can expect a new diary in 2 or 3 weeks. But I have another sativa that grows waaay faster than my killer a5, from ACE. Golden Tiger!! You'll be informed automatically when I put in a diary :)
@HighRoller909, Well yes but I wish I had an other phenotype. Have you took a moment to read pheno description on ACE website? The NL-Haze pheno was the least interesting for me. But I like the way it grows too let's just hope it still makes some exquisite flowers. Might grow again. Don't you monitor your growth in a journal this time too?
Hi - what are in the organic living soil? Looks a bit wet. Pure Sativa‘s are Usually from drier area. And their root does better with drier soil. There is still time.
And I am with you on longer veg.
For bugs, I use microbes. My first choice is Beauvaria bassiana but I rotate a couple others into my spray every so often.
Happy growing
@sativaman, Beauvaria is curative. They don’t last long above ground. And it is sprayed.
Anti-mold trichoderma is preventive. Again the don’t last long either.
Good luck.
@Med_in_Tropic, the Organic living soil is made with peat moss, mycorrhizae fongus, worm casting bone meal, blood meal, fish bone meal, alfalfa meal, wollastonite and rock dust, humic acid, lime and perlite.
Each plant also received about 300ml extra of top dress and tea since fower. Top dress mix contains Bone meal, kelp meal, fish bone meal, blood meal, mineralized phosphate, rock phosphate, mined potassium sulfate, glacial rock dust, humic acid, gypsum dust.
Thank you for your input about watering! Those are 15gal (around 60 litres) and they receive about 2gal of collected rain water every 5-6 days. This is my first time in soil so I am all ears to your advices. I grow usually in coco coir with mandatory 20% runoff everyday. I have been told to drench soil until I am just about to see any runoff. Does this sounds right to you?
Because of fungus gnats I was trying to soak soil once a week to have the top 2-3 inches dry for at least half of the time. I did not know about sativas enjoying some draught and it does make a lot of sense as Malawi have a rain and a dry season.
Beauvaria bassiania.. very nice I have just learned something new today! I made a quick search and I looks pretty solid. Would you say that those are more preventive or curative? I have a local company who make some: Anatis Biopretection. If I knew better I would already have those in my soil. Next run will be. My nematodes are on the way so if they do not take care of the problem I'll get the beauvaria, and try to top dress.
Thank you again and have a great day!
Bonjour Merci beaucoup pour votre journal votre travail me laisse sans voix c'est magnifique de voir un passionné de sativa comme vous. Vos info sont precise et clair ne changez rien japprend beaucoup de votre travail. A bientôt
@Greenislandfr, Thank you for loving Sativas!! One of the reasons I love it here is because we can share and see how a specific strain behave under documented environment. I am learning a lot myself on GD! I will take a look at your work and see what's in your garden! Cheers from Canada!
@xanado18, The smell ..mmmh! first word comes in mind is addictive! then I would say complex and nothing close to any other strain. Do you know what Tiger Balm is? (It is a Thai medecine balm sold in a little metal canister that fits in your hand)Smells like Tiger balm, pine and varsol paint thinner, maturing to a tropical sweet note.
Looking great. I don't know why your replies don't come up as a notification, just saw your question.Yes, yesterday I flipped. Under 11/13,I'm expecting to see the first preflowers in a week as they all showed female signs in the last week of veg, they are mature enough.Diary in a couple of days.
I’m growing a out AJs African haze, which is very similar to the Malawi and I’m sure shares some aspect of the same lineage. I’ll be following along and watching your plants stretch out 😎 love a good sativa tent!!
