Being my first grow I know the outcome could have been much more bountiful if I was experienced. The buds are very airy and foxtailed pretty bad. I wouldn't try this grow again. The smell is faint with a minty citrus twist.

Grow Questions

MrWeeblesstarted grow question 7 years ago
The plant with no lst in the 7 gallon pot seems to be growing skinny buds and at a very slow rate compared to the lst girl in the 3 gallon pot. Is this normal because of the size of the pot? She just doesn't look like other girls ive seen others grow.

Hey there the lst will make a difference the one with no lst will stretch more and have further node spacing as it's being allowed the lst slows the stretch and makes the plant focus more on fattening the buds up instead of stretching but different genetics and phenotype also make a difference especially outdoors as there is no limit to the light they receive so there should be differences things look ok getting fatter for sure

I keep checking the trichomes and the body is clear and many heads are amber. I thought there supposed to go from clear to cloudy then amber, since I have amber heads is the thc degrading or is it improving because the body is still clear? Should I harvest or wait?

Hi there! Only trichome’s glandular domes ("bulbs") should change, from clear to milky to amber. The "foot" remains the same. For maximum resin production and potency, you should harvest when trichomes have moved from milky-white to an amber-hue, meaning they've started to oxidate and they've reached the apex of their development cycle. But your trichomes may have been affected by other factors : physical contact, wind, heat, or the sun. If leaves are dying/yellowing + new pistils have stopped appearing + almost all pistils have turned brown or red and curly ===> you're good to go, enjoy your harvest bro!

This is my first grow. Started way to early because I was excited about my seeds coming in. There planted in Fox farm ocean forest in 7 gallon smart pots. First week they were maybe getting 10 hrs of sun a day until I bumped up the 300watt led to run for 18. Like I said my first grow. There in a small greenhouse "flowerhouse" from Amazon that serves more as a disguise than anything since I'm supplementing with the led light. Nights have been dropping into the low 40s and upper 30s but during the day the greenhouse thermometer will tell me it'll reach up to 90. Might need to cut a wall in the back oing the greenhouse to very more ventilating air when the warmer weather comes. But let me know of anything that'll help my yield. Thanks guys

@Stick, this is the exact answer I've been searching for all over the internet. No idea the foot didn't changes colors since I've been waiting for them too. Now I have so many amber heads I chopped her maybe 30 minutes ago! I appreciate the advice.

Good shit I found this site, I’ve been trying to find info on Afghan autoflower but couldn’t find any. I currently have two girls that are about 11 weeks old and I was thinking they were duds since it’s my first grow. One was 9.5 in yesterday at 7 pm an this morning it was at 10 in. Since I’m seeing yours started to flower at around 15 in I’m going to let them grow that big before I make any changes to see if they start flowering.

DEVALcommented7 years ago
@MrWeebles, they're outdoors so they're getting like 13 hours of light.

@DEVAL, what light cycle you running? Sun or indoors?

@MrWeebles, yeah I got them from growers choice seeds, but I have read some people end up with a male sometimes. So it's good to be able to verify. I started of with three seeds and two made it this far. I'm at 10 weeks from the time I germinated the seeds and one is 10 in high for the one I was able to verify the sex yesterday. The other one is only 6 in high and still it's till in the veg cycle.

you might wanna consider dropping lights from 18/6 to 12/12 sometimes with auto from what ive heard and read you have to do that because the auto part doesnt always kick it and u have to manipulate it like a photo period

Purpdaddy87commented7 years ago
yea ive got mine on an 18/6 myself my critical purple startin showing signs of flowering at 3 weeks my gorilla glue started at 4
MrWeebles
MrWeeblescommented7 years ago
@Purpdaddy87, I'll give it anther week or so. I've heard 18/6 is good for a whole cycle. I got critical purple auto in week 3 under the same greenhouse. Flowers look healthy so far, but ill look more into it

Clear and cloudy can look very similar and hard to tell which is which. If you are seeing amber, she’s ready for harvest at anytime. Lower percentage of amber will give you a more uplifting high (that I prefer personally), waiting for a higher percentage of amber will give you more of a mellow/couch lock high. Hope this helps!

Nice update and good growth this week ;) As for the yield, try to get your environment in the best possible condition for the plants to strive, there are numerous ways you can do that. As for the plant itself, you can use a number of techniques that would enlarge your canopy and create more bud site in the future.

Forgot to mention I have same seeds but 1 in a 7 gallon smart pot with no training and the other in a 3 gallon under lst. Interested in seeing the difference in yield, if any.
