Day 70!
Blimey, start of week 10 now and jeeeeeez, has this run gone quickly!
There are some MASSIVE buds on these ladies and I'm somewhat pleased these were kept low and stocky because if I'd let her stretch, I would be supporting them which, given the relatively large disparity in sizes/heights between all 3 plants, would have been a real pain in the arse in terms of scrogging or any other support system. They are around 500mm tall and very stocky so are holding themselves beautifully. As I said very early on I wanted to let these autos run without too much in terms of any LST/HST, just so I have a datum by which to measure for when I run the Black Lights again which, according to Sensi Seeds may be some time as they are now out of stock. Oh well.
So what else... yeah... MASSIVE buds, I hadn't really finished what I was writing; they are dense! I am not one for predicting scale weights, simply because I am such a nooooooob still that I will be wildly out for sure, but I am confident I will have beaten my last auto grow which was around 120g dry (pre-cured) when trimmed. The longest, main cola is about 180mm long and 80mm diameter, so a circumference of 250mm. Definitely my biggest buds yet! Across the 2 main plants there are 7 or 8 similarly sized colas following a teeny bit of LST. There are another 6 around 2/3rds that size, and then plenty more 3 or 4g (predicted dry weight) in size, too. The two main plants have had a significant haircut throughout early flowering and I still nip out the occasional fan leaf.
Runty girly has a main cola some 200mm long now and is thickening up nicely. She has been left, like the others, with very little training, but a good deal of defoliation now. She's in the first picture. I very VERY nearly pulled her at 3 weeks as she was quite odd in terms of blotchy leaves and stunted growth but I am so glad I let her run.
Last thing on the buds... last picture shows where they are in terms of Trichs. A few clear still, plenty of milky and a few amber. Tonight I will start a flush on her and I think 7 days should she her harvested. The next girl is a few days behind.
Again, I strongly believe the rainwater that was exclusively used (unfiltered other than through a sieve to remove larger particulate matter) and Biobizz Fishmix are the reason for such a good grow. I just stood there and watched, frankly.
Roll on harvest because I am having trouble not removing a bud for a quick nuke and taste test, and that is just a sin!! :D
Thanks for reading! 😊
I can confirm that BioBizz All-Mix might be a little bit too hot for this strain. I grew two Black Lights CBD Autos along with two Sensi Skunk Autos on my south-facing balcony last summer. All of them were started at the same time in small cups with BioBizz Light-Mix before I put them into 11l pots with BioBizz All-Mix two weeks after germination. Although I didn't fertilize, the Black Light CBD Autos showed signs of nitrogen toxicity, while the Sensi Sunk Autos were doing fine. In the end they recovered and although it could have been better, it was still a pretty good harvest.
@StuG69,
Yeah, this is going to be interesting. I’ve also seen autoflowers go into flower early and then turn into midgets because of stress caused by cool and rainy weather conditions lasting for several weeks. However, this fortunately won’t be a problem when growing indoors.
Anyway, it’s good to hear that your runty girl is picking up :)
This has been my favorite strain so far, btw.
Good luck!
@Krautklaus,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I think perhaps I should have researched a little better before assuming that the straight to final pot - in Allmix - would be OK for this strain. I think assuming that as my other runs - Zkittlez autos and Bubba Kush (photoperiod) took off straight away in Allmix, the Black Lights CBD autos would too.
The above said, the runty girl is now showing signs of picking up but is still 50% behind in terms of size compared to the other two, but I am glad that I resisted the urge to pull her. It'll become interesting come harvest, if I have to run her extra time to flower as I use my tent for drying so I may have to start thinking of a plan B! 😀
@MarsHydroLED,
Hey, thanks! Loving the light - really get great results from the TS1000. Is the TS2000 that much of a step up for a 80cm X 80cm area? I can get 3 plants under the TS1000 but think maybe I could get at least one more with the TS2000 in the same space? Or maybe I should get a 1M X 1M tent and then run the TS2000 in it?
Thanks again. 😀
