Start of week 6 now, so what's that.... day something or other, I don't know.
Not much to report, other than to say runty is showing pre-flowering signs, which is getting on for 10 days to 2 weeks behind her siblings! I have rattled on about her in other posts. Week 3 and 4 mostly I think so do check those, and the pics, to read more.
Increased the nutes dosing yesterday too and added Top Max and discontinued Grow (I was using a 50/50 split of Grow and Fish Mix and simply forgot to add Grow to this feed so, yeah, that's why it's not on my nutes schedule.
Pictures added were taken this morning. I had to apply a little LST to the larger plant because the main stem had stretched, so, a quick bend or two and a fuzzy pipe cleaner later the canopy is more even in terms of light distance.
I also carried out more defoliation, despite promising myself not to. That is what happens after 3 beers and a smoke! It wasn't severe; I'm not THAT cruel to the little autos. It just needed doing so some of what would have been popcorn and whispy shit have now gone, and I cleaned up around the lower nodes a fair bit, and finished with some tucking, for good measure.
On the whole I am reasonably happy. I am now thinking however that I REALLY should get the TS2000 light because despite only having a tent with an 80cm X 80cm footprint, I think the TS2000 would hit out to the corners and edges harder than the TS1000. Happy to be told not to spend the money though, if the consensus is that I don't need more power, just more talent as a grower!!
Day 39. Added a couple more pics. Two of the girls are flowering well, runty is still runty and really not doing much but she'll remain... for now!
Final bit of defoliation done last night. I am not Lollipopping these but am being quite robust in terms of what I'm removing during early flowering, but that is is now. They run to the end as-is. Upped the Bloom by 0.5ml/L and introduced Top Max this week too. I also did a rainwater only watering a day or two ago, and they literally looked sad the following morning, almost like over watered, but they're not as I'm super-careful about watering and wet/dry cycles, so, can only put it down to them being hungry feeders so, I added nutes and fed as normal last night and this morning, up and praying again! Yay!!
I can confirm that BioBizz All-Mix might be a little bit too hot for this strain. I grew two Black Lights CBD Autos along with two Sensi Skunk Autos on my south-facing balcony last summer. All of them were started at the same time in small cups with BioBizz Light-Mix before I put them into 11l pots with BioBizz All-Mix two weeks after germination. Although I didn't fertilize, the Black Light CBD Autos showed signs of nitrogen toxicity, while the Sensi Sunk Autos were doing fine. In the end they recovered and although it could have been better, it was still a pretty good harvest.
@StuG69,
Yeah, this is going to be interesting. I’ve also seen autoflowers go into flower early and then turn into midgets because of stress caused by cool and rainy weather conditions lasting for several weeks. However, this fortunately won’t be a problem when growing indoors.
Anyway, it’s good to hear that your runty girl is picking up :)
This has been my favorite strain so far, btw.
Good luck!
@Krautklaus,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I think perhaps I should have researched a little better before assuming that the straight to final pot - in Allmix - would be OK for this strain. I think assuming that as my other runs - Zkittlez autos and Bubba Kush (photoperiod) took off straight away in Allmix, the Black Lights CBD autos would too.
The above said, the runty girl is now showing signs of picking up but is still 50% behind in terms of size compared to the other two, but I am glad that I resisted the urge to pull her. It'll become interesting come harvest, if I have to run her extra time to flower as I use my tent for drying so I may have to start thinking of a plan B! 😀
@MarsHydroLED,
Hey, thanks! Loving the light - really get great results from the TS1000. Is the TS2000 that much of a step up for a 80cm X 80cm area? I can get 3 plants under the TS1000 but think maybe I could get at least one more with the TS2000 in the same space? Or maybe I should get a 1M X 1M tent and then run the TS2000 in it?
Thanks again. 😀
