Terpenes or Sativa/Indica?

I believe in Sativa/Indica But new trend seems to be that all cannabis is the same and only terpene profile spesifies your high. Is this the truth? To prove it I could add some hops with specific terpenes to any weed and this would alter my high? Hop has same terpenes as weed btw

Maybe its the different profile of cannabinoids but terpenes has nothing to do with this! From my understandign terpenes are just aroma stuff and they will produce different smell/flavour but they will not get you high in any way. This is really interesting stuff cos if terpenes change your high then you could make THC-A chrystals with terpene liquid and just take the liquid terpene and add that to any weed to alter yoour high depending what you want. I think this terpene stuff is BS but PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG! I want this to be true 'cos it would be a game changer!

I've seen a lot of conflicting answers on this, for example I've seen some places cite Myrecene (also present in Mangos & Hops/Beer) as the main terpene responsible for the Indica high. My best understanding is that especially since strains are so cross-bred for their many traits both in growing & medical effect, these days that Sativa/Indica dicotomy is becoming a little blurry, but to only credit the terpenes might be an oversimplification. It definitely plays a role in the effects of the plant, but the hundreds of different cannabinoids likely play an equally important role in the effects. For example THC-v which is most prominent in strains like Girl Scout Cookies or Durban Poison is known to have an energizing effect & actually suppress appetite. These days, Sativa & Indica, outside of growth traits, I think is mostly used to describe effects rather than their origin. Hope this helps!

And to add to the answers, essential oils (terpenes) are already used for enhancing or changing moods, so that aspect can be true - think of lavender for relaxation. Nobody is saying smoke a bunch of lavendar though. There is the potential I suppose for some terpenes to align with lesser Cannabinoids? But I don't think this has been shown or proven through proper analysis.

Your thinking cannabinoids. . Terpines are the essential oils found in cannabis. There are 7 main types. 1. Limonene = citrus flavors 2. Caryophyllene = harsh, pepper. 3. Pinene = pine 4. Terpineol = spring flowers 5. Linalool = lavender 6. Terpinolene = woody 7. Myrcene = hops Cannabinoids are the THC, CBD, THC-A..ect

I would say it is more to do with the Cannabinoids, and different terpenes might enhance or elevate different effects. I wouldn't rush to prove anything with hops though - obviously introducing different material would invalidate your "research" so just stick with the herb and mix it up to find what you like. Personally I like some grand daddy purp with something like super sour diesel in the same bowl.
