I'd like to know the origin, purpose and owner ship of this site. The truncated options in diaries leads me to think this site is owned by a company in the cannabis business. Why else does the query for nutrients allow one to input typing and then dump it and replace it?

They may have links on the cannabis industry as they obviously sell them advertising and promote brands in prizes in contest.. Im sure its a free web page tho as in nobody will every contact u trying to sell u shit n ur completely free to post ur diary's (of even ur own strains if u have them) n comment's.. If they dont av ur feeds u can choos a custom option n write on their n this will upload correctly.. Stay safe n gud luck with ur future grows .. 👍🍀

Because the site is for Grow Diaries and maybe the nutrient you use, and want to keep track for your diary, is not in the database?
I use that feature to store my on "veggie teas" and my own nutrient recipes.
Why else?
