First decent mainline grow from seed. Still learning. Avoided keeping tiny branches to avoid popcorn buds. Now that they are still vegging but have the shape I want, do I leave the branches now? Or chop tiny low ones to try and get THICK single nug branches?

That's a judgement call. You could lollipop it and prune the lowest branches. Or you could let it grow and only prune top leaves that are blocking light or air flow. You're growing outside so I would choose the latter of the two options. You should be getting plenty of light to get good buds a bit lower than an indoor grower. Lollipopping MIGHT increase potency slightly, but I wouldn't give up the extra yield for such a small gain. Either way, it's a gorgeous plant!
