During the summer, Basil will grow really fast on the sides of the pots, lots of good food, and also will keep aphids and other pests away.
I also use clovers or dichondra to cover the soil, like "alive" mulch, and after harvesting I recycle the soil and compost the "grass", much like alfalfa for example in crop rotation.
Any aromatics will work in a fantastic way.

Well water PPM/EC looks REALLY high. What to do?I just did a quick test of our well water with a new cheap little meter and found that with our softening system on I hit 267PPM and an EC of 568(!). Smelly Autopot Reservoir. Normal? Advanced Nutes. Water pump stirs every 15 minutes for 4 minutes. Hole in cover blockedLooking for experience with the Autopot system. This is the first time I have used it. 12gal reservoir. I change out the res weekly but by the end of the week it has a foul smell to it. Cleaned each time with half bottle of 3% Peroxide.
