sure. I like to wait until I have 3 nodes to do so. u could have let them grow a bit more to take them, losing the fan leaf won't really affect that shoot at this point. but you went ahead and took them clones I think you'll be fine. 3 nodes just ensures greater success. u don't even need rooting gel with 3 good nodes. I'll use the flesh of aloe vera and sometimes not even that.

Dear Henry,
Yes they are a bit small to be a clone, but their fan leaves dying doesn't mean that they will not grow. Just keep feeding. She looks healthy and those stems will grow more.
Try to get clones between 10-20 cm (5-8 inches) to get the most out of it. See my latest defoliation (7th week) on my grow (Jack Harrer).

Yes you can clone them now if you want however I would advise to let them get a bit bigger. If they are too small the stems will just rot. Wait till they are about 6 inches long or more is usually a good length. Small short clones tend to grow into bushes with alot of wasted grow time lollipoping them to make the plant more suitable in grow height.

They will root if keep with great care!
Success rate will be higher on a cloner or bubbler with good rooting hormones! I have cloned 3 cm plants on 3 centimeter pots.

Is doming clones a must?I just topped 2 plants and for shits and giggles decided to try cloning the toppings. I removed the bottom leaves peeling down to expose the flesh and dipped in pro-mix root stim, they are now in my veg tent thatβs at 82F and 50% humidity. I just didnt have ziplocs to dome them
