Hi Growers, I would like to ask about topping auto flowering plants? Do you recommend it? Does the plant recover throughout its small phased life? If soo what week top? ~ please only answer this question if you have experimented as this is really important to me. Thanks

Hey Mate, You probably won't get a straight answer to this question. Normally you say, you do not top Autos because of the limited Life-Span. But it's very strain dependent and also how your Veg. thrives. I would highly suggest to try it on your own. There are growers here, who top their autos on day 10/11 and get good results. To me it's always dependent on the veg. If she thrives then I top, If not it's just LST. Good luck and happy trails for the rest of the way 🤞 Servus🤘 OimRausch

I would only top the lady if she needed more than 10 weeks in total. You would only ruin autoflowers with shorter growing times.

hi Bud i have topped an auto and she recovered fine. it was from a different breeder but it worked. now, what i learned after doing that is the FIM method. where the plants recovers much faster and the results look better in my opinion. you only need to pinch out the "fluffy" part

If your problem is about the height and you want to control it then go for the bend. If you want to improve your harvest then I'll suggest to not topp it. Automatics can be really fast, 95% of the time your plant wont have enough time to recover which will lead to a smaller harvest.

DON'T! I topped my Gorilla and it seems to have slowed growth. The two new branches that popped up on either side of the cut have grown significantly yet I can't stop thinking how much taller the centre branch would have been by now. I planted a new one in a fresh pot to observe and compare but I'm beginning to conclude that LST would have been more than enough. On the other hand since you have more than one plants of the same variety it wouldn't hurt to top one or two of them as an experiment and compare with the rest but I will advise you against it.

If you've never topped photos before, don't top autos.. To get a good result, you'll either need experience or extremely good luck. To answer your question tho.. If you absolutely have to top an auto, don't do it later than the middle of week 3, since most autos generally start flowering around week 4. - It will recover, but if you do a bad job at topping, it could take a week or more to do so..
