The idea is to place your lamp as close as possible to your plant to ensure that the intensity doesn't decrease too much. In growing, the farther away it is, the weaker it is (geometrically). So you should be around 30/35 cm... the umol measurements aren't precise enough for LEDs in my opinion, you have to rely on your plant; if it stretches too much, you need to lower the light, if its leaves are too close together, you need to raise the light a bit. 30cm/40cm seems too close, but that's how it is in reality.
