LST - How far down should I pull the stems? If the leaves touch the media, too far? Try and go down as far as possible without breaking? Or just as long as the upper leaves aren't casting shade below?

My rule of thumb is to bend them to the edge of the pot. I would recommend putting a tie around the base though - opposite the direction you are bending - to support the base and the root structure. The idea is for the stem to bend, not for the plant to uproot or tip over. As for leaves touching the media, it's okay, as the leaves will usually perk right back up within the day.

Hi there,Here’s my advice for you to perform LST.First,Start bending your main stem in one direction,as parallel as possible to the soil.Be careful not to break the stem. Counteract that bend from opposite side.So that your main stem can’t fall off easily and accidentally. Then continue on doing that as the main stem growing taller.Do the same to the other branches and spread the branches to side way.Don’t worry if the leaves touch the soil. It’s normal to touch the soil. You can remove those leaves later on if they are yellow or damaged.Second one,Using shoelaces or some kind of strings.Lay down the strings from one side to another over the your pot’s rim.Put your main stem under that string and also counteract from opposite side.If you are interested, you can check in my organic vs inorganic diary.Happy growing... ✌️

Much more 👍 at the base close to the soil tie it good and solid. Bend it near your biggest fan leaf, I kinda roll it and bend it very very slowly...only thing I can say is watch a youtube vid to get the sense because you can snap it very easily, not if you work it though 👊👌👍
