Test a EC or PPM meter

Is there any way of testing an EC or PPM meter to see how accurate it is? My EC meter seems to be giving me strange results compared to my PPM Meter. Both are cheap meters from china.

You use calibration solution or two different EC/TDS. Ie you test/calibrate with a 700ppm then you test/calibrate with a 1000 ppm solution.. Then you recheck your readings with your calibration solutions to see how accurate your pens are.. Here's a link to a company that sells the calibration solution. Cheap or Expensive all TDS/EC meters need to be calibrated once a month or so. :http://hmdigital.com/product-category/accessories/calibration_buffers_storage/

I don't see any ppm or ec listed on the labels. I dont have a ro system. but i do have a zero water pitcher. The water that comes from measures 0. the charts i find for my nutes shows a ppm range and no ec.

there are 2 ways to calculate EC. If dividing by .5 doesn't match up with ppm, divide by .7 and see if that corrects it. if yo have a nice RO system, you can mix up some measured amount of nutes and calculate what the PPM should be from the guaranteed analysis labels. then, compare. A really good RO system wil be near 0 ppm, if not mistaken? if not, that's what you'd need, then mix and measure.. start with a known.. compare measurement. easy as pie. look into re-callibrating, if that's something necessary for those pens. that'll also verify integirty.
