Abstract
Four-week-old Cannabis sativa L. plants were treated with 1 ml. of gibberellic acid or indoleacetic acid at concentrations up to 250 p.p.m. The treatment was repeated at weekly intervals for 3 weeks. These plants were harvested 1 week after the last treatment. Gibberellic acid caused a significant increase in height and a decrease in the weight of leaves and Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol content Indoleacetic acid produced no significant changes.
Gibberellic acid when applied at a concentration of 100 µM enhances the amount of THC and CBD in the plant tissue. One reasonable hypothesis for this action is that the application of Gibberellic acid adds to the regulation of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid, ramping the level of ethylene, thus leading to increased THC and CBD content (Mansouri et al., 2011). ...
