Supplemental light for flowering?

I have a 300w quantum board LED. Its a Mars Hydro TSW 2000. Should I add more light of a different type for flowering or should I just run the LED alone? I've heard people mention the UV-B lights.

Hey Chevron! Studies do show that little amounts of IR (Infra-Red) and UV (Ultra-Violet) are beneficial to plants and increase flower yield! In the Mars Hydro TSW 2000 you mentioned there are IR diodes ( you can see them in the middle of each diode row) so you have nothing to worry about that part, as for the UV it has very small benefit and mostly beneficial for vegetative growth so nothing to worry about in that part as well! Hope this helps! Good luck and happy growing :)

How I see it is if you want to add one and pay for the expenses of using it go for it. I don't feel its needed personally. The mars light is very strong and as long as you have your light in a good spot to maximize it's output without burning your plant, your buds will be of good or better quality. Keeping in mind everything else is in good levels during the grow. Happy growing and good luck my friend. 👊

Hey Harbringer, yeah the UV has never been disproven and does benefit the plant during flowering as well but like the article you linked said the increase in THC Yield would only be as much as 3.4% (some believe it can get up to 5% but there's no official research showing those results as far as I know) which is a nice increase for large scale growers, but for micro-grows like most of us out here the cost efficiency of buying and running a strong UV-B/A light to increase yield will be very small and can even decrease cost efficiency! It will be very helpful against pests and fungi though!

And if anything research/information available says it helps flowering Cannabis produce more Thc but not CBD.

*Oh and forgot to mention that UV light can also be helpful against harmful bacteria and Calcium uptake but with proper grow space hygiene and proper diet it's quite irrelevant.
