So, last year i spent a lot of time researching light spectrums of different lights and what is best for plants. UV is interesting! Most grower stick to what they know and preach the knowledge that 400-700nm is all that is needed. They are not wrong, a plant will grow quite happy between those wavelengths. However, when growing outdoors the sun at high noon will emit UVA and UVB. UVC is mostly eaten up by the atmosphere. UVC will kill your plants! UVA/UVB however can be very useful if used properly. There was a study published in America in the 60"s proving that the use of UVA/UVB in flowering stage in small doses will increase THC production. The trick is understanding how much and for how long. The reptile heat lamps are ok but don't emit a lot of UVB which is the most important wavelength. The best of that kind is the Argomax 200 UVB tubes. there are a couple of companies that now offer UV lighting as part of their line. California Lightworks, MigroLight, Invisible Sun LED.
If you are going to use it, time the lamp to come on half way through your lighting schedule to simulate high sun. try it for no longer than 30 mins. Increase that time till you get to two hours. keep an eye on temps in the row space and condition of plant so you can adjust if needed. Check out Migro Youtube channel is you want some more expert advice. Using UV is a game changer to your buds.
