When to harvest?

Vitora
Vitorastarted grow question 3 years ago
This is a mobydick from latitud sur. They say 8-9 weeks of flowering. She completed the 7 week. By the way she is developing Should I harvest when she completes exactly 9 weeks or she will need less or more time?

At least another couple of weeks. You want to see a few things: 1. all those white pistils turning to a rusty orange colour and shrinking back. 2. Buds swelling up and packing on weight fairly rapidly, eventually slowing down. 3. Leaves being cannibalised and dying off. After you see at least 2 of those 3 things, you'll likely be in your harvest window and you should check the trichomes if you can. A 40x or 60x Jewellers loupe on amazon is very cheap and will help you immensely in checking the state of trichomes. You'll want to harvest when you see a good amount of amber coloured trichomes. The exact amount is preference, really, I tend to go early at about 10% ambers.

Those pistils seem all white which suggests to me that it's still on the younger side. They will go more red when it's closer to harvest time. I would stop giving nutrients in week 7 from flower and give 18ml/gallon of fancy or blackstrap molasses with the water. Once the hairs go red and the fan leaves start going yellow, you know you're getting closer. To know for sure, you need a cheap microscope or magnifying glass to check the actual trichrome glands. But from what I'm seeing I'd say you have a ways to go. I'd aim for 9. Things can change quickly though.

ich würtde behaupten du hast da noch gut 3 wochen zeit am besten wäre es aber dass du dir ein Microscope kaufst und die Tichome checkst dann kannst du einen perfekten ernte zeitpunkt festlegen ;)

Know this, most seed banks are quite lite on their flowering recommendation. I think you'll want to let it go a few more weeks. Your buds and colas are quite small. Get yourself a nice Eye Loupe (magnifying glass) and keep an eye on your trichomes (the tiny glands that contain all the THC, CBD, and cannabinoids). Be patient. You can't rush it or make it move faster. The plant will be ready when it's ready. Look for cloudy trichomes for an uplifting buzz, or 10-30% ish amber trichomes for more of a couch lock. Its up to you my friend.
