Read an article about cutting back to the cambian layer on an established stem and pinning it to the ground to create another root stock. Made me think...

Had a cone and got me thinking. Can you do a LST and for every node grow up and down, instead of cutting the one growing down off, could you use it with some rooting hormone and etch it back into the dirt to create another root stock?

Google "serpentine layering", this is what this technique is called, but in my experience, hard to achieve, taking a long time and requires constant monitoring to ensure correct moisture levels. You can do one node or many and finding a suitable branch or three often isn't as easy as it may seem. Probably best for "woody shrubs", but not ideal for fast growing herbs like cannabis. Can be done though. Much faster and easier to take cuttings the normal way. Hope this helps,...... Organoman.

yes, that's correct. i would use cloning gel, or a jiffy cube and a propagator. the trick for success is in the spray you use while they're cloning 😉
