Gnats come out in full force this time of year in my area. It’s a matter of time before they find their way into the room. What do you guys use as a pest preventative measure?

I've noticed a lack of insects around any of my plants since I started growing basil next to them. I dunno if its fact, but I've read and tried and seems to work. I grow alot of other plants besides marijuana.

Additional Note: Had gnats a few weeks ago, but a quick foliar spray and some mosquito dunks in the res for a week did the job. Haven’t seen them in the room since. I usually use Organicide once a month during veg as a preventative measure. Currently in the first week of flower and want to do give final treatment before can no longer do any spraying. Not a big fan of Organicide just due to smell and residue.

What are these tiny things on the stems? Looks like some sort of pest.I can't match them with any of the common pests for Cannabis plants. I thought maybe juvenile Aphids or mealybugs at first, but I'm just a noob. I've only found 3 of these near the uppermost growth, attached to the base of fan leaf/stem. Root Knot Nematode? Larvae? I think it killed this seedling.I found some type of critter crawling around what was left of the root of a dead seedling.
