When they are new, the crystals are clear, then they get milky, and finally they turn amber colored. Depending on how strong you want your smoke, chop when they are about 15-20% amber and no more clear. The more amber trichomes you get, the more couch locked type high. Earlier you chop, the more energetic the high. Hope this helps!
