Can DWC compete with Ebb and Flow?

I've seen incredible growth with flood and drain systems using giant netcups of hydroton but the upkeep is a burden. Can DWC compete in terms of yield and quality? The simplicity of DWC is very appealing to me. Anyone tried both?

I have been having issues and believe its the lightsToday I moved my light closer from 60cm(thought my light would be too strong at 600W) to 30 cm after looking at the specs

Water temperature control in DWC. CuriosityIn DWC growing, chillers are really expensive and frozen water bottles you need to replenish kind of frequently.
