I personally do the 48 hour darkness. Plant goes in moist comes out dry. The darkness helps letch chlorophyll from plant. Then I cut in sections leaving fan leaves on but where colas are not bunched. Hanging them on hangers in dark. With slight moving air that is indirect . After about 2 to 3 day I cut fan leaves off. They served there last purpose slowing drying time, around day 7 I start checking stems for a crack when bent at 90 degrees. No big ones but not tiny ones either. Or buds will come off when pulled down is another way to gauge when ready to jar. Slower the drying helps maintain cannabis smell and provides for smoother smoke.
