Question about pH.

GameCatstarted grow question 3 years ago
My soil pH is 7 right now. Every single plant. I am adding pH down and watering with it. My question is, if you have had to lower your pH in say 5/10 gallon smart pots, how long did it take to correct the pH levels?

Hi there, a pH of 7 in your medium is almost too high. If you water with pH around 6.2 to 6.5 it will only take a couple of waterings to bring that pH back down as long as you didn't use too much dolomite lime when mixing your soil. ( If you mixed it that is ) Dolomite lime will continue to neutralize the medium until fully absorbed by the plants. ☺️

I should have mentioned I am using cocoloco from FoxFarm. Chi, the runoff was lower, like 6.2 or so, which is about what it was when I mixed the acid into the water. I haven't done a slurry test, but I used a digital meter.

Did you get the reading of 7 from a slurry test? That’s pretty high for soil…. The water you feed should be at 6.2-6.5 for soil. What’s the ph of the run off???
