Can I exhaust my grow tent into the closet it's in?

I'm putting a 3x3 grow tent into a larger closet I have (maybe 8' x 4')? So I guess the closet is called the lung room? I will have a carbon filter and inline fan in the grow tent exhausting out. Can I exhaust out into the closet it's in? Or is that a no-no? Pros and Cons?

Generally you should not exhaust the air from grow tent into the same room the air is being sucked in from - especially if it is a tiny place like a closet. You will have extreme humidity levels and you may suffocate your plant with very high oxygen levels in air - it would work similar to putting a plastic bag around a person's head and expecting the person to stay alive. There's also temperature to be taken into consideration, your light will continuously raise it and with no fresh air your closet will reach very high temperatures quickly. And last but not least - this damp, hot, not very fresh air is perfect for fungi to grow in. You most likely will get bud rot. Basically it is best to give plants access to fresh (or at least fresher air) than to reuse the same air. It is of couse possible to reuse the same air but you would have to monitor the conditions constantly.

I use a bedroom in my house as a lung room. I vent back into that room. It gets hot in that tent if I keep the doors shut. So to combat that I keep the tent doors open and I keep the door to the bedroom open and it stays at a nice 25-26 degrees in the tent. At night I close everything up. In a closet I suspect you’re going to have a hard time keeping it under control. But give it a try it’s all you can you can do my friend. It is what it is. So I would vent into the lung room (your closet) but try to find fresher air to introduce into the tent. Or try and have your tent exhaust just outside that closet. Good luck sorting out your space. 🤙

After being filtered inside tent as long as your lung room is clean to begin with, you have a few choices: You can vent the air from tent to lung and then you have to decide if to use an active intake to draw air from outside - good idea if inside is hot and outside is cooler or less humid You can vent into lung and intake from lung if outdoor conditions not great - air quality, humidity, legality (can someone see you using ducting or not?) Or if that would leave you with preferential internal conditions in terms of temps and rh% - might be cold as fuck outside which wont help if you pulling cold air into tent i suppose heat would be your only concern really, the rest are mostly controllable.

I exhaust into a closet, but keep the door open to keep heat and humidity down. You might find the need to connect an exhaust "pipe" to your exhaust fan and point it out into the room outside of the closet. Or maybe not.
