Can a carbon filter be too "big" for an exhaust duct fan?

Is it fine to use a carbon filter that can handle twice the capacity of the airflow my fan can produce? Or will the fan have trouble ventilating the tent then?

As long as your carbon filter can handle your airflow your good. If it can handle more then it will be better on your fan as it will not have to work as hard to push the air through it.
Carbon Filter CFM > Fan CFM = good to go
