Heating outdoor greenhouse potential issues?

EmeraldLakeCannabis

I've added a heater to my outdoor greenhouse as it's getting extremely cold at night now and they're not far enough along to harvest. Could you imagine any problems occurring with this other than the obvious condensation on the walls and roof of the greenhouse?

What type of heater? A small/heater fan from wallmart works in our greenhouse 8’x16’. Getting the air to lightly circulate the “inversion layer”helps prevent any cold pockets. Don’t point it directly at your plants. Start on low. Most have a safety switch in case of tip over. I haven’t had any issues in the last couple seasons and would not be able to grow in winter without it. Good luck

temperature below ~18c is going to cause nutrient uptake issue in plant. roots? chemistry in plant? i don'tknow the details of causality, but it will turn leaves fall colors and reduce photosynthesis etc.. other nutrient deficiency symptoms in leaves etc etc... so, i'd say the heater is a great idea... if propane, it'll be a nice boost to co2 during the light hours too. may also want to get co2/co detectors? depending on how you are heating it. condensaton is quite normal for a greenhouse, so just make sure you don't incubate a bunch of microbes and you'll be fine.. i.e. cleaning it occasionally should avoid any problems.
