if you spray enough it'd be fine. never superficially irrigate a pot. that only leads to bad things.
The trick is doing things in a way that doesn't require an irrigation with a non-sprouted seed. avoid the whole sitation because it's easy to do.
I expect seeds to sprout in 2-3 days, but sometimes it can take longer. I never got consistent results until i started using a heating pad with thermostat control. if you live in a warm area, this may not be necessary.
if you use the paper towel method, you keep them there until after germination and the tap root is sufficient to plant in something solid. I don't use this method because it's a bunch of extra, useless steps mostly so people can "see" what you can just confidently know is happening, regardless. Though i will say, if you plant a sprout after using the paper towel method to germinate it, you really shouldn't have to worry about watering a "too young" plant, because it will be several days from that pointn before the next irrigation is needed.
so, i'm assuming you had it in paper towel, didn't wait for germination then planted? definitely don't do that. either stick with the method allthe way through or just plant directly into the substrate.
so, simply wet some small pot - the entirety. Plant seeds. wait. don't fuck with it. If worreid about a rare slow sprout, put a dome or cup over the pot/surface and you'll have 7-9 days before you need to irrigate again. this should be long enough to never have to water while a germinated seed is so young you worry about "drowning" it. Do take off the dome after it breaks ground, of course.
always water entire pot. never partially water. are you teh same person i told a day or 3 ago to stop spritzing?? LOL it's a common mistake. don't feel bad. but it is wrong and leads to elevated risk and suboptimal root growth. No one knows this stuff inherently. you have to learn it.
If you don't want to pour water, you can spritz it until you get a bit of runoff, then you know it got wet all the way down. don't over do this. you need some moisture but not a ton of it, so don't do it daily. allow it to dry off at least 33% of the weight before wateringentire pot again even if it hasn't sprouted, yet.
