Grams/watt

I notice that the grams/watt calculation might be misleading. For example my 2500w light puts out actual 530watts. Should this not be the way its actually calculated or am I the only one who thinks so?

Schauen sie immer auf die tatsächlich gezogene watt zahl alles andere ist nur werbung bei ihnen also 530watt also gramm/watt wäre 530g oder mehr da die neuen leds mehr schaffen

Nvr used anything other then hps to flower with….led lights are 3-4xmore then a good 1000w de hps light..I always hit 1.5-2g a watt depending on strain and time of year..I don’t see how a led light pushing less watts can get over that…seen some of them say 3-4 pounds a light. I think this is BS…i had a grower friend or two changed the whole set up to leds and after a crop went back to hps…been skeptical about spending so much to do a side by side and see with my own eyes…

Also no one’s mentioning the larger the plant (longer veg) = more nutes(price) lesser space & longer bloom not to mention the maintenance of said large plant for optimum results

Same! Very misleading. I’ve mentioned it after every grow where you can review the lights and Kind LED don’t seem interested in addressing the issue. They’d rather get you through the door with inflated power out put claims than let you get true GPW from at the wall wattage.

I agree. False or "stretched" advertising is not cool. Low cost lighting is one of the worst offenders. A 2'500 watt grow light is an obvious marketing lie. Most home electrical circuits can't even provide that much wattage. But manufacturers still lie and many people believe the lie and buy their lights so they keep doing it. Hey, if you can buy a 2'500 watt light for 0 why would you buy a 0 light that is only 300 watts? Breeders stretch the truth on grow/flower time. And every few days a new grower is on here asking why their first grow is taking weeks longer than the seed specs say. A professional doing hydro and hitting conditions exactly might get the rapid growth cycle advertised but most can't. The inflated grams per watt numbers is another stretching of the truth. They just don't tell you that they are professionals, growing in hydro and veg for a really long time to get a huge plant. They can technically get 2.5 grams/watt. It might not be the most efficient regarding time, space, or electricity consumed and almost nobody grows like that. But it can be done.

I hear what you a are saying and I agree 100%. I just think with the database on this specific community that the grams/ watt should be relative to the actual wattage of all the grow lights that people use, especially the company's that I assume are sponsoring members etc. Maybe I'm nitpicking a bit but I feel it should give a more realistic final analysis upon harvest. Maybe because I don't fully understand all the different lighting systems but from my own experience ( led only) led lighting systems should reflect actual wattage to help people nail down a setup and expected yields from the manufacturers

The whole grams per watt thing is not something I subscribe to.. it’s unrealistic for most home growers. It’s watts from the wall btw. You’ll be lucky to pull 1 gram per watt but a lot of light companies advertise 2.5g per watt range which would mean pulling 3 lbs from your setup. Just forget about those expectations and do your best
