Germinating in soil how much to water my seed?

Germinating I’m fox farms soil; it’s been 2 days since I transferred from RO water. The soil is drying out on the top layer. How much am I supposed to dampen the soil, just barely like I would paper towels or give it a good soak because it will permeate lower soil?

Let me just tell you how I germinate in soil ... I thoroughly soak the soil using water with microbes and ph balanced... I then plant the seed, put an inverted saucer over the top (to make sure the seed is germinating in the dark) and put the whole thing in a trash bag that is tightly sealed to make sure it stays very VERY humid. I then let it alone for 3 days. I'll open things up on Day 3 to see if a sprout is showing ... if not, it gets wrapped back up again and I'll check it the next day. The longest I've had to wait for a seedling is 4 days... they're usually up in 2-3 days... if I don't have anything by Day 5, I gently dig around to see if I can find the seed - which usually I can't because it's a dud and I pitch it. Doing it this way, you don't have to worry about how much water to give it ... it's got plenty to work with and adding the microbes at the beginning will help the newly formed roots spread and grow really quickly. If I were in your shoes with your seeds right now, I'd use a spray bottle so the watering is gentle but I would spray a lot to make sure the water permeates down ... Good luck with your grow!

It worked! It sprouted and is waiting to let those green babies out! I have it under a 150 led with a humidity dome from a bottle :)

Do u have any water bottles cut in half make yourself a small humidity dome till she spouts from soil I like to leave on for a week keeps that humidity high seedlings need that humidity I start with 1 inch slowly move your watering circle 1 or so every watering till those roots grow out. Overwatering will kill those small ones roots need to breath don’t drown them my biggest problem

you put it in with the tap root out? how deep and was the tap root down? I’ve read not to water to much cuz you don’t want to push seed down. mine popped quick don’t let it dry i’d just use a spray bottle and mist the soil till slightly damp

If its just the top stuff you can mist it a bit. the lower stuff should still have some moisture. Can also use a upside down glass on top of where you planted it as a humidity dome. Good Luck!

Use spray twice a day, just for 30 sec max with smallest drop. Keep temps closer to 27 , believe me it will help to have huge plants, drop in flower. Good luck !
