The reason is they are not the same is because most coco on the market is not washed or buggered before selling it.
They are also steam sterilize it and compress it where canna composts it and compresses it.
Washing the coco removed a lot of its inherent salt, sodium from the ocean.
Buffering it caused the cation sites to release the bound potassium and sodium in the coco and replace them with a more stable magnesium and calcium bond.
Composting it is a different way of making it consumer ready and ages the product vs blasting it with steam.
You can 100% use that coco coir and buffer/wash it your self. but its a bitch to do. and makes a mess.
