Did I need to size up to larger rockwool cubes?

Geminated seeds in 1x1x1 rockwool cubes. End state is to be in 5 gallon buckets with 8" net pot and clay pebbles. I figured the roots are too small to reach all the way into water solution still so put small cubes into 4x4x4 rockwool. Did I need to use larger cubes?

Id have let em go a few more days at least before going into the bigger ones, if you cant see any roots poking out at all from the smaller cube its first in, there is no need to go up in size yet, but in saying that, goin up to a larger size a bit soon isnt the end of the world, just means you man need to occasionally water from the top if you think the plants roots are not growing deep enough to reach the water- like you see wilting even thou the cube's base is in water or you see the top half of the cube drying out. it will be fine either way so just be a touch ,more careful with watering for next 7-10 days til the roots are nice and long.

If you’re doing DWC, there’s no need for them bigger cubes.. this should be fine tho. If it’s top feed that’s a diff story tho.. still wouldn’t go any bigger than this tho..

I would just put them in the nets with clay. The tap root will reach solution pretty fast

either need to let them grow out more so they can reach before using the bucket-rez or have some sort of drip mechanism at top until the roots do reach the reservoir. could use 2 different sized buckets your net pots fit over... easy to swap out the bucket underneath.
