I read that in maximizing yield you trim off the lowest two set of branches. I am growing my plant horizontally to accumulate more budsites without the use of topping until I have the desired amount of branches. Is it safe to remove the lower two sets of branches?
There no relationship between removing the two lowest set of branch and maximizing yield. It's safe to remove them in any case but you want to wait a little bit more to see if they grow weak or strong.
In case they grow weak yeah it's a good idea to remove them but in case they grow strong you'll want to keep them.
Happy growing
Yes, the first pair of branches never amount to much and I always remove them for this reason.
Removing them will not cause anything else to happen, just 2 less branches, that never grow very big anyhow.
Hello. You are growing a photoperiod plants. There is no need to rush like you do with a auto. My advice is to let the plant grow for a while and then shape or prune it the way you want it. This is why - If you take any more than 1/3 of the leaves off a plant it sends them into shock and they don't grow for a while until they heal. If you wait a while until the plant has more leaves it won't mind if you take a couple off or prune some lower branches. Sometimes when I prune heavy or do HST I know I'm sending the plant into shock but I plan a healing period after. Good luck. Chuck.
